Irish monger Paultain (1957?-2015) was a familiar name and face to many ladyboy mongers from the early days of online ladyboy boards and he was also a self-published author of a book called “The Paultain Experience” (2009) about living and mongering in Asia (mostly Thailand). Over the years, several BMs nominated him for the Romscars Hall of Legends, and many more were left wondering why he was not picked. My reason not to give him early priority was that although the book covers a fair amount of ladyboy action over the years, most of it was GG action, plus some of that action may be fictionalized as separately discussed here in the Board (http://www.ladyboyreview.com/index.php?/topic/10174-my-book-review-of-the-paultain-book-and-some-personal-reflections-it-triggered/). But the important FACTS are that (1) Paultain did publish a mongering book with ladyboy coverage, which to date no other ladyboy monger has done; and (2) through his death in 2015, he was a high profile member of our sissies-chasing community, having garnered both fans and non-fans. For those 2 reasons alone, and given the fact that even if the book exaggerates it’s of no harm to anyone, this year (2022) Paultain finally takes his earned place in the Romscars Hall of Legends, something I think he would have appreciated in line with the effort he made in his book to cast himself as the ultimate mongering machine. According to himself, Paultain started mongering in Asia in his 20s while on R&Rs from Saudi Arabia, then moved to BKK where he had a bar in Nana Plaza, then another in soi 2 Pattaya that he ran with a Thai GG he married, then they had an Irish restaurant on soi Yamato in connection to which Paultain was thrown in the Pattaya monkey-house for a few weeks. Sometime in the 1990s he moved to Holland with the wife who once there stabbed him on that major leg artery and eventually they divorced. AGAIN: all this is according to Paultain's book that does not include a single picture of any of these stages of his life. What we have evidence for is that Paultain would return to Thailand on annual sex vacations during the 2000s because that’s when the ladyboy boards started hearing about him as he would post actively and meet in Pattaya many of the BMs. He wrote some good TRs with pics (including of himself) such as the one he posted here at LBR where we can remember him at his ladyboy-scoring best: http://www.ladyboyreview.com/index.php?/topic/297-paultain-2007-2010/ From what I gathered from the book, Paultain was attracted to ladyboys the moment he saw one in Manila but over the next 3 decades spent the vast majority of his mongering time and cash with Thai GGs. Only towards the end of his life, did he report bonding with ladyboys for longer periods, much as he had been doing with the GGs for most of the book. Well done Paultain and Welcome to the Romscars Hall of Legends. Thanks for the memories and Rest In Peace. Rom

This thread seeks to provide my take on the book “The Paultain Experience” a mongering focused auto-biography published in 2009 by the since deceased fellow ladyboy monger Paultain who I am considering for induction this year (2022) into my self-instituted Romscars Hall of Legends. I encourage all BMs to post their own reflections on the book if they read it and on Paultain himself. Regardless of what I think, Paultain is already legendary enough in the minds of many fellow BMs who met him in person on the field of battle (Pattaya) or followed his authoritative posts at several ladyboy boards, including here. However, Paultain was by his own accounts mostly a GG monger and I was never totally convinced of his ladyboy mongering credentials and that’s why I did not put him up for induction sooner. In this thread I will explain why I hesitated, while wanting to reassure upfront that Paultain will likely be inducted this year unless some other BM comes up with hesitations more critical than my own, which I doubt will happen. You see, Paultain did something no other ladyboy monger has done: he wrote a book where he demystifies sex with ladyboys! For that alone he is legendary in his own right. But, by my own literary-critical standards, I am not crazy about his book and when I got it years ago I put it down after reading the first 3 or 4 chapters and skipping to the last few pages which confirmed the rest of the book would be more of the same. I just returned from a trip to TH-PH during which I forced myself to read the book from cover to cover (388 pages) so as to learn as much as I could about Paultain as a matter of due diligence with a view to inducting him or not into the Romscars Hall of Legends. That due diligence objective was accomplished and in the process I realized why I was not so keen on the book the first time around when I had instinctively dismissed it as too tritely and predictably written for me, too self-hagiographic and likely selectively dubious throughout. But as I read more of it during the trip, I began to realize that the real reason I was uncomfortable about “The Paultain Experience” is that it was showing flashes of myself in the mirror and I did not like what I saw.
