  1. So happy to go back to jomtien...Chiang Mai is so nice but I didn't enjoy. Downtown a lot of temples Bazar..etc etc....ladyboy scene is almost absent. Shamrock still there...friendly but not special ..night Bazar closes at midnight. Good place is ladyboy cabaret ...really different scene from what I've seen in bkk, Pattaya isaan or phuket...will not repeat

Twelve years ago, I arrived at the bus station with a ladyboy from Pattaya, and we sought out affordable accommodation by consulting a tuk-tuk driver. He took us to Luck Thai Guesthouse. Returning alone two years later, I found the price had increased to 600 THB. It appears the guesthouse underwent renovations and is now referred to as Luck Thai hotel. The quality of the walls has improved, and the establishment has evolved into a hotel featuring a swimming pool. For bookings, you can visit Agoda.  During that period, the hotel was ladyboyfriendly (much like 99.9% of Thai hotels).

A decade ago, local ladyboys often directed clients to the Royal guesthouse, which you can find on Agoda or in your favorite booking website. I can see the guesthouse was renovated too.

Upon checking Google Maps, I also noticed a more budget-friendly option, Vipa Guesthouse.

Edit : I didn't use a car in Chiang Mai; instead, I booked trips directly at the Luck Thai reception. If you're interested in visiting elephant parks, you can find better (albeit pricier) options at the Elephant Park office, not far from this area. There's also a tiger park a few kilometers away from Chiang Mai, close to an elephant park.

Ten years ago, I negotiated with a tuk-tuk driver to take me there at a low cost. In return, he could pick up customers while I explored the park. If you're into visiting the tiger park, just make sure to clarify how many cages are included in the trip you purchase. While I was told that prices were lower than those at the reception, keep in mind that the cost depends on how many cages you want to enter. The most expensive option is the tiger babies' cage.

If you're interested, it would be worth a discussion to deal with elephant and tiger parks as well as with trips in he area.

I also liked the vibes of Chiang Mai a decade ago. I stopped going there for reasons that now seem trivial. The city used to be bustling with tuk-tuk motorbikes, but over time, Thai people transitioned to small cars, and even SUW. I felt that Chiang Mai lost some of its authenticity. Nevertheless, it remains a pleasant city to visit and hopefully, the  small ladyboys scene is still active.

10 years ago I stayed at the Raming Lodge and was happy with the hotel and location.  It's on Loi Kroh Road which has some beer bars with ladies.  Shamrock Ladyboy Bar was there; have no idea if it still exists or is a ladyboy bar.  There are some beer bars surrounding a boxing ring on Loi Kroh which is interesting.  Raming Lodge is a very short walk to the Old City.  There are red songthaews similar to the Pattaya Baht Busses which are cheap.

    Link To Raming Lodge

I liked the vibe of Chiang Mai although P4P venues are somewhat limited. Maybe you'll find a beautiful Burmese ladyboy with thick 8 inches!

Thanks for the suggestions.... I'll leave tomorrow....will report how the situation is

Its incredible how this two week shutdown affects so many different people's lives .

The workers from the bars/ massage shops then it goes down the line , the bottle shop and delivery guys , the ice delivery,  people selling dresses, bags and shoes to the girls , the rooms the girls rented now empty,  the landlords aren't getting money to pay the mortgage and so on and so on.

Ofcourse there are a few bars that aren't affected by this and that's the boys in brown owned establishments.

I do hope it doesn't get extended like bkk , I was told today immigration at Jomtien was standing room only as many tourists have to extend the holiday Visa.

"And those who return home or leave the area will be arrested and imprisoned for 14 days because of violating and telling the infection to spread again.".....

I have this message regarding Pattaya...is it true?...can anybody confirm?

Googling around these sandwich shop gloves are polyethylene. These are the cheapest and cheap enough to throwaway after one use.  They are the easiest to tear but it's not like it matters too much if they tear as you are not dealing with a chemical that is going to burn your skin off.  Latex is supposed to be more comfortable but costs more.

There are reports that there was some panic buying today in Bangkok.  Perhaps what is helping Pattaya stores stay stocked is that most falangs are going home.  For me, Thailand is home but not for the guys who come 3-6 months every winter.  Was just at a 7/11 and the shelves are full.

Not really sure the exact difference between polythene and polyethylene but the gloves in the store will be ployethylene.

And don't forget to clean properly your phone...if you go out with it

On another point, I was talking to Sindy yesterday, sitting in her room bored senseless. The Thai attitude to this astounds me, they honestly think that after the 2 week lock down everything will return to normal, carry on as you were. I reckon Pattaya is fucked for the forseable and a good possibility if and when we do return there, it will be a very different city.

I have the same feeling...what you say it makes sense...

  7. Maybe Korea ( south ) has done a very good job...in 3 points:

1 ) compulsory test to everyone

    2 ) $ 1.200 monthly bonus

3 ) an app on the phone telling you of there is a positive around 300 metres

    It makes sense to me...science+technology+money

I'd love to see this country fall into a deep recession and struggle for a number of years in order to rebalance their inflated opinion of themselves on the world stage, not to mention the fluke strength of the Baht over recent times.

Here you are served ....were you forecasting this? In the next 6 months Pattaya will be reduced to starvation...

Here in Pattaya I have not observed any panic buying.  Demand is probably lower due to a lack of people.

My gf just bought noodles hassles free.,.

All bars and restaurants closed in Italy!

Exceptions are grocery stores and pharmacies.

I confirm. To go out you need an auto certification that you are going to work or home. Before entering grocery shop you need to wear gloves.

    Police could stop you anytime.

Regarding the fan ban in Thailand..well done. I'm in the middle of it and people is really scared. Do not understimate this virus.

But we have free hospitals...and they are full to the top..what would happen in Thailand?

Thai immigration officers at Bangkok airport diagnosed with COVID-19

Two immigration officers at Bangkok's main airport have coronavirus and may have handled the passports of visitors to Thailand, a health official said Wednesday. One of the officers was among a team leading health screenings of Thai returnees from South Korea -- which has reported the second most COVID-19 infections in Asia after China.

So this makes it 55 cases?

I don't even want to think about how many there really are after seeing all the chinese tourists over the Xmas and New Year and a good part of january.

Tour buses idle as Thai economy takes gut punch from virus

Ranks of tourist buses idle under a burning sun while once-bustling theme parks lie empty -- from above, striking images reveal the hollowing out of Thai tourism due to the effect of the new coronavirus.

Chinese tourists -- 10 million of whom were expected to visit this year -- have abandoned Thailand

I think same same...I tested this morning...result=negative...I had little bit of cough....I presume infection is among us 10 times more than said..... I'm very pessimistic..just the beginning

And how Thai people can pay for a hospital testing when they don't have money for food

Regards from the red zone ( Rome is actually orange )
