few of us consider how to go about starting new friendships or even meeting other expats, once` we move to our new and permanent  overseas abode.  I'm just wondering how you factored this requirement into your plans for moving to Cebu ?

I'm at least a year away from a possible permanent move. This is a first step towards future planning.

With regard to making new friends I have been using a forum for expats in Cebu to make some introductions but to be honest I have moved to new areas a few times where I knew nobody and made friends fairly quickly so I'm not really worried about that side of things.

If it turns out to be a place that is unwelcoming and difficult to find friends then I won't be moving there.

Yea. I'm traveling alone.

Flight details are. Dublin to Amsterdam with air lingus. Amsterdam to Hong Kong to Cebu with Cathay Pacific.

No its my first trip. I'm posting a blog here as it evolves.

Just an update on my trip costs.

3 month return flights from Dublin, Ireland to Cebu, Philippines. €790. Note if I waited I could have gotten this for €680.

1st week in 3* hotel €80.

Budget for condo within walking distance of Cebu centre 1mile Max. P20,000 p.m.

I have seen a few great looking condo's on rent.pH or agoda advertised for this amount.

Running cost of play and entertainment is as high as you want but my budget is approx €50 per day. I'll have a little surplus for excursions and trips. But I don't expect it to go much more.

OK I think its time for a quick update.

I have my flights and first weeks accommodation arranged. I have been talking to some girls to get a feel for what to expect. After a wobbly start I have gotten the hang of managing expectations on both sides (I think). There was a couple of false starts.

With that in mind I have a girl who is going to meet me to help me settle in. She has a good job so won't be able to take time off to travel the islands with me. I have other girls numbers willing to meet with me should I want to.
