In many countries the drunken tourist lout behavior would not be tolerated by the locals. You can see why the locals get pissed off, and if it wasn't for the MONEY it generates for them they would hardly tolerate it at all. For myself if a bar is full of pissed louts, tourist or other wise I just move on
Thailands not done as a destination until it charges "western" prices. The only problem
with moving on else where is that the quality and quantity of LB's is hard to find else where.

It's absurd with all the military & civilian radars across Asia, not to mention satellites and the vast amount of air traffic in the region that the tracks are not monitored more closely and accurately.

If you cannot afford comprehensive travel insurance you simply cannot afford the holiday! In most cases it's only a few short/long times

From else where's comments
how far SE Asia is from Australia! Here's a few distances for comparison.
Sydney to Bali: 4619 km
London to Tehran: 4407 km
Melbourne to Hong Kong: 7394 km
London to New York: 5587 km
Brisbane to Hanoi: 7389 km
London to Nairobi: 6805 km
The major population centres in Australia aren't as close to SE Asia as some people think.
