This is the new Sony HX50V recently released which has a 30 x zoom on it...outstanding! The outgoing HX20V is a decent robust camera and if your quick can be found for less than 200 quid.

Anyone thinking of investing in a reasonable compact but are cost conscience should check out featured ones that are being replaced as they usually can be found for 40% less than the old going rate. New features and slight upgrades in the new lines may look more desirable but sometimes you have to ask would you actually use them? I'm pretty tough on my take along gear and generally their lucky to last a season. For those who have trouble taking the new camera along at night invest in a small compact case which you can slide your belt through then you'll never forget it.
