  1. Thanks for all the work, Arch.  Yeah, damn, I impressed myself, going 11-3 in the final, only missing by taking the pats and giving the points, the longest FG being over 47.5, and first FG being over 35.5 yards.

You know, sometimes you go with your heart and lose, then go with your head and lose again!  So many times in the season I'd go against the odds with my heart, and of course lose.  In this game I was pulling for Philly, but who thought they could do it?  So, I went with my head.

Sometimes you can't just win....and sometimes pdoggg just can't lose!!!  5555

Wait.... just realized you have me 10-4.  Wouldn't matter, but I had 11-3.  Do you have handy which four I missed?  If not, don't bother, it won't matter.  Thanks again.

Bubba thanks for coming in!!!  Screw up??  Moi??  You can check me by logging on to the box score on ESPN!!!! Thats the benchmark I will use!!!

As you referenced earlier, it looks like a lot of work!  I'm sure I'll just trust you.   :hi:

  3. OK here's my picks.  Since I'm not watching the game, putting my trust in you, Arch, to not screw this up!!!   ;- )

    Pats -5, over 48

    4)  NE  2nd half points 13.5 o/u - over

    5)  NE penalty yards 48.5 o/u  - under   This might be the easiest one, pats are never penalized.  Sacrilege!!!

    12)  Bradys 1st TD pass 13.5 yards o/u - under

    19) Amendola (NE) receptions 4 o/u - over

    24)  Foles attempts  33.5 o/u - over

    27)  Most penalty yards Philly or NE? - Philly  See number 5!

    29)  Will there be a FG made in the 1st quarter-any team? - Yes

    31)  Longest FG 47.5 o/u - over

    33)  Total FGs made 3.5 o/u - over

    35)  1st FG 35.5 o/u - over

    37)  Rushing yards L Blount (Phil) 24.5 o/u - over

    38)  1st TD pass Foles 12.5 yards o/u - over

  4. Yeah, right about that.  They can't resist.  I don't know...

What amused me during the Pitt/J'ville game was I think everyone took the under.  Turned out to be the highest scoring game of all the playoffs so far.  I got a kick out of that.  Wonder what the pay was in Vegas for choosing over on that one.

Sometimes you gotta buck the trend.  Watch out for my picks the rest of the way..... !!!!

  5. 5555, I hear you.  Or maybe worse, a Falcons fan.  I was gutted watching the pats come back last year, and I'm not really a Falcons fan.  But all that aside, you're right.  I remember my working days.  Sometimes you had to remind yourself that someone that works for you is very young.  May be good, but lacking experience.  YOU FORGET THESE THINGS.  But in football, you can't.  I'm not making excuses.  You're right, the kids needed to be reminded what to do.  In football you have very little time to think about these things, they had a matter of minutes.  But you have to remember these guys are rookies (that kid is/was a rookie, the other safety is/was a second year guy.  Both good players, but YOUNG.  Tell them exactly what you said - fucking let him catch it, who cares?  Just STOP him after catching it!!!!  Game over.

I feel for Brees.  Clock ticking on his career; the guy KILLED it in the second half.  Will he get another shot at another ring?  Kinda like the talk about Peyton Manning - one ring, meh.  He gets two, and suddenly he's a star.  Brees playing for hoody would be a different story.

But gotta say, at least for me, the best game of the weekend was Jags/Steelers.  Wow.  I could not believe the TDs the steelers got, including that one you reference before the half.  But there were more in the second half.  I have to give it to Antonio Brown; I was tired of hearing about him, but being an NFC guy, I'd hardly seen him.  Dude puts out.  Catches bombs with one hand like I just tossed a tennis ball to you.  Amazing.  But was reallly glad to see the Jags keep ahead and pull it out.  Now if they can do that to NE next week.... wow.  As depressed as I am, guess I'll have to watch.  (sigh)

I wanna like Bortles, but it's really hard watching his throws... and you say "who the F was he throwing to?"

  6. There are no words to describe the pain and sickness; I can't imagine what it's like to be a player.  Yeah, the kid F'd up, but I gotta put that more on the coaches and maybe the older players.  Unfortunately our veteran safety is out; Saints had lots of injuries on the D.  So both safeties are kids.  But you gotta remind them what the situation is.  As Cowherd said in a commentary, a Belichick coached safety doesn't F up like that.  How true it is.

As big a shame was the second half Brees had.  It was freaking masterful.  I was doubtful they could get down and get the FG, but he surely made it look easy.  The shame is not one more first down to either run out the clock before kicking, or leaving less time.  But once Drew got going, he basically took apart the league's best defense.  Guy does not get enough credit.

But my team is cursed.  There's just too many of these kinds of games in their history.  Different coaches, different players, nearly always the same result.  A couple of years ago in a game in the dome against Denver, they stormed back at the end of the game to score the winning TD, then kicked the EP.  Another beautiful come from behind victory certainly in their grasp!  But.... the kick was blocked, and it went right to a bronco who ran it back 80 whatever yards and the broncos won the game.  Just like that.  In over 50 years I've seen more of these than I ever want to remember.  But this one certainly takes the cake.

One more, similar fashion, think it was the year after the Saints won the Super Bowl, 2011 Divisional playoff game, at San Fran.  Game goes back and forth, in the last five minutes the lead changes hands four times.  With just 9 seconds left in the game, Saints let Vernon Davis get into the end zone and make the catch, winning the game, 36-32.  NINE SECONDS!!  Another heartbreaker to add to over 50 years of heartbreak.  But this probably is the worst.

  7. Atlanta -3  Falcons want another shot at the Super Bowl, or at least to keep Saints out!

Jaguars +7.5  D is going to give Big Ben grief, AGAIN.  Hopefully enough to beat the spread, if not win.

Saints +4  Hope Saints have a plan to work the running game; Vikes will be tough on the ground and the air.

Pats -13.5  Not going against hoody.  Titans didn't impress me, KC simply folded once they lost Kelce.

    Birds game, under 41

    Steelers/Jags under 41

Counting on the weather in both games keeping the scores low; Saints/Vikes were tempting under because of the Vikings D, but just never know.  I got F'd last week picking Saints under.  So, I'm only going with the two above games for over/under.

Dont fret Bubba.  Had you not change you over to the under in your Saints game, you would be 5-2 and top of the heap!!!  Its early days yet.  We are going to have A LOT of prop bets for the Super Bowl so there will be plenty of picks overall.

    Now I feel even worse!

Pdogg, Bumblebee and Bubba all 3-1 after day one.  Missed EVERYTHING.  My sked got all messed up due to the storm here impacting the East Coast.  Nearly froze in my car til the heat kicked in.  Last night it was about 5 degrees F whats that in C about -13 or so??  We will finally get some relief tomorrow, Monday, where it will get over 32 or 0 for the first time in 5 days or so!!!!

Bummer.  Sounds like your vacation time didn't start soon enough!

  10. A little surprised at the spreads in these games.  Though I guess there have been a number of wild card blowouts in the past.  But I like big spreads, in football and in food!  I'll stop there!   :rolleye0012:

Titans +9  Only "weather" game; will be cold, hoping it's a low scoring contest.

Falcons +7  Went with the Rams all year with success, and frequently have gotten screwed by Falcons, but these are the playoffs.  Believe the birds will show up.

Bills +8    Hoping the hobbled McCoy can be effective.

    Saints -7  Three time's a charm!!

    KC-TN, under 44

    LA-ATL, over 49

    NO/CAR, over 49

  11. Going solid with my Saints definitely cost me.  But... as that site shows, if you pick the right team to go with you can do quite well.  At least this year the ATS champions were Jets, Pats, Browns (in a negative way) Rams, and Eagles, if my memory serves me.  I guess the trick is to find the right teams.  :FourLeafClover:

I'd probably be willing to do playoffs if you can get enough interest.

  12. Found this interesting.  I was wondering how I did going with the Saints every game this year (well, starting week four, after I picked the panthers and saints crushed them).  I thought they were better ATS than they were; they were 9-6.  But check out the top three... with the Jets coming in fourth!

If you'd picked against the Browns every game this year you might be beating pdoggg......  :rolleye0012:

  13. Looks like Rams are resting starters, too.  Hmmmm....

Saints -8  I'm going with you, tex, on this one!  Or maybe you're going with me?

49ers +4  first time this year betting on them.... I hate going out on a limb!

Colts -4  guess I'm going against your theory, pdoggg; though I probably should not ignore someone that can calculate all those odds; I always had trouble with simple multiplication tables.
