I´ve tried so hard to "like" westerns, but i just can't. Not my cuppa. Last one was True Grit and i was bored to tears. Ive seen many of above mentioned movies like Ballad of Cable Hugh, Unforgiven,Pale rider, Soldier blue ( Candice Bergen was my wet dream after that) but i guess i just don't get it.

Make sure you do. One of the most uplifting, feel-good docos ever made. IMO.
I didn't know the director was Swedish. How the hell did he come across this South African phenomenon? Was he living there?
I
He was packpacking in SA and came across this story. It was recently awarded at the swedish "Oscars" for best documentary.
It also won Critic's choice movie award, Vancouver film critics circle , National board review and Cinema eye honors.
I believe you, everyone says it´s great, so i will check it out.

T
I believe that Tarantino's best film was Reservoir Dogs...I realize that I am likely alone in that belief...
I agree with that. I really liked Pulp fiction too though.

One of the documentaries nominated for an Academy Award is Searching For Sugarman. I
Made by a swedish guy. I haven't watched it yet, but i will

Without wishing to sound offensive, purely an observation... But the word 'nigger' seems to be the exclusive domain of themselves. If anyone outside of that demographic were to say it THEN it is offensive, but if spoken by one to another then it is acceptable by them.
I feel I am being offensive even by resisting the use of certain other words here despite using the 'N' word already. No offence to anyone intended, it is just an observation described in a clumsy way. Clumsy that is for anyone who isn't a member of that demographic.
I realise this thread is about movies, but I've been watching 'The Wire' and it must be used at least 50 times per episode. But only by that particular demographic to others within it, never used by anyone else.
How about if we use the thaiversion; Chocolate man?

I tried multi quote, sorry.

Oh dear. I wish you hadn't mentioned that movie. I found it hard to watch. I remember going with a male friend of mine & he walked out. I stayed because I figured it couldn't get worse & it may have some redeeming feature still to come. There was no redeeming feature & it did get worse. Nicholas Cage full of existential angst while portraying the most disgusting drunk ever seen on screen, I still feel revolted by his performance. I can't ever remember praying so hard for a movie to end.
I think you confuse it with Leaving Las Vegas, which i think is a great movie. Fear and loathing is about Hunter S Thompson starring Johnny Depp

Matt Damon on the other hand is a light weight compared to Leo and Brad and company.
You´re right.( his name just popped up when we were talking Ben Affleck). He really isn't in their league.
Benicio Del Toro is one of my favorites. Traffic and 21 grams are probably his best so far.
I can´t post multi quotes anymore. Sorry about that

Speaking of Joaquin Phoenix, here is a somewhat-obscure movie some of you may have yet to see; ''Return to Paradise".
Yeah, i´ve seen that one, i liked it. Also check out I´m still here. A weird bio /docu made by himself. This movie is true to this topic, very obscure.

Well, he is only 40, so give it time; his best work may be ahead of him.
As I say, for sure he has made some stinkers in his time, and his career was threatened by some really bad choices; whoever signed him up for Gigli and Daredevil is surely not advising him anymore. Watch some of his better movies like Argo and Gone Baby Gone, and hopefully *all* of his future work; you may have a slight change of heart.
I haven't watched Argo, Gone baby gone or The Town, so maybe i will change my mind about him.
But he is in the same generation of Leo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Benicio Del Toro and compared to them he's a lightweight.
I didn't like DiCaprio either his first years, thought he was just another pretty boy, but in his case i have completely changed, he's one of the great actors of his generation. In We own the night and the Departed he´s fantastic.
Edit: for some reason i thought he was in We own the night, but of course that was Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix.

George Clooney he is one of the finest actors of this era.
Agreed.
Ben AffleckI disagree. He´s nothing special. He thinks he is though.

.Kasikorn wants to physically see your passport and they need your hotel address for their records...
Actually the fee for the ATM card depends on how much you deposit...The larger the deposit the lower the card fee...
Correctomundo. Get the insurance option too. 5 k thb/year. Not a bad deal, covers up to 50 k thb every time you chose to use it, plus you get the atmcard for free. If you take the insurance they will mail the card within 2 weeks to your address in the province. You won´t get it right away. Only the atmcard you get right away

The scene in True romance with Dennis Hopper! It doesn't get much better, except for maybe here:
Walken's character in The Deer Hunter

Its a good song, The first time i heard it was in the eighties by this guy. An old hero of mine. The years weren't as kind to him as to Barry. He passed in 1991 in a New Orleans hotel room. OD. I got to know him in the eighties when he was living in my city, he was a great guy, but so messed up by drugs. RIP Johnny Thunders.

Seven Psychopaths.
I´m watching this tonight. You guys had me interested. I´ll watch Walken in anything. But Colin Farrell??? Come on... he´s not even an actor. He´s down there with Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper. In "Crazy hearts" with the great Jeff Bridges , its so obvious what a poor "actor" he is.
Tom Waits is credited in Seven Psychopaths. That should be good. Thanks for the tip!

This could very well be it. Many key players involved. Its headlines news here. It started when a Hamas top dog was killed 2 days ago, and now Israel move in ground troops aside with airforce and missiles.
Dec 23 2012 anyone?
Three somewhat obscure movies, everyone should see
in Boiler Room

No. Its not a problem stating i don´t like western movies. I don´t like fantasy movies either. There. Not a problem.
