  1. One thing to remember regarding WiFi is that if one has a True SIM (no pre-paid account required) and is within range of a True AP (in Patters maybe a hop, skip, and a jump away from Beach and Second Roads, and in Bangkok along Sukhumwit), True Move WiFi is available at some pretty reasonable prices.

True Move has two 1-day unlimited packages; 1Mbps for 120 THB, and 256kbps for 29 THB. If one has a Bangkok Green account, True Move WiFi is free, but it's at a much slower rate than 256kbps.

256kbps (and Bangkok Green) is fine for checking email or surfing with images turned off, but I wouldn't want to download any movies with it.

To enable one of the 1-day unlimited packages, send a text to 9434; for 1Mbps send the text "1day" and for 256kbps service send the text "wifi29" (both without the quotes). If all goes well, you'll receive an SMS back with a username and password for the log-in.

For those of you with a Bangkok Green account, service is hit and miss in Patters; sometimes the log-in works, and sometimes it doesn't. No pompems in Bangkok though. As I understand it, Bangkok Green shouldn't work in Patters, but sometimes it does. TIT.

  2. You might put Eastiny Plaza ( http://www.eastinypattaya.com/plaza ) on your list of places to consider.

At 1,500 THB per night for a Double it's more expensive than you're looking for, but it does include tax, service, and a pretty good breakfast buffet.

I don't recall if they have rooms with balconies, but I can tell you Eastiny Plaza has very good hardwired Internet in every room I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in quite a few.

If I had trouble getting around, location would be most important to me, and Eastiny Plaza would satisfy that requirement by being located between Sois 7 and 8, and between Beach and Second Roads. And if one doesn’t want to wander far, there is a lof of fun to be found around Sois 7 and 8.

Never had a pompem wih a LB or two, but usually book a double.

  3. Ok, we have a date. I arrive in Little Moscow on April 07th.

Now that you've moved your dates up, any chance of reschuling the field trip to Naklua to 1 April?

  4. Good report, DownLoLarry!

SiamSam and I were enjoying our lunch on the beach near Ban Chang, when we spotted one of the most gorgeous LBs I’ve ever seen in the wild.

And she would have been mine, too! But sadly I had my GF along. Man, I hate it when that happens.

Can you give us a hint where Rabbit Bar is located?

  5. Change of dates guys. I am now arriving in Pattaya late on March 31st. Will stay there until April 09th and then head into Bangkok until the 17th.

    Great news!

1 April is my anniversary of moving to Thailand, and I’m thinking about having a bit of a night out. Any interest in hitting every LB bar in Patters that night?

I am upgraded to first class since I had the points and first class is virtually empty. It was a good day indeed!!!

First Class is so much more comfortable than being chucked in the back with the baggage. All those frequent trips really pay off!

Plus one may arrive more rested as it's often easier to sleep in the 'flat bed' seats.

  6. The slow cooked meats at Bob’s BBQ (Soi LK Metro in Pattaya) are pretty good. The ribs at Café Orleans (across the street from the Penthouse Hotel also in Pattaya) can be good.

And it’s hard to beat the ribs at Bourbon Street in Bangkok.

  7. In Bangkok, try Friend’s Barber and Massage located on Sukhumwit Soi 19. Ask for Ann; available during the day.

When Ann asks what you’d like, just say “Dat poam” (rhymes with ‘foam’ and means ‘hair cut’ in Thai) and point to your naughty bits. She’ll take care of you from there.

The service costs 500 THB, and extras are extra. Although, Ann has been known to show appreciation to return customers.

While on the subject of ball care, we should also mention Rin of Hana Massage located on Sukhumwit Soi 22. Please note there are two Hana Massage shops on Soi 22, and Rin’s is the second as one walks from Sukhumwit.

Rin’s claim to fame is the ‘ball massage’ (called ‘chep kai sai’ in Thai). Although commonly called ‘ball massage’ by farangs, Rin concentrates on the soft tissue in the groin. It’s a great way to keep one’s pipes clean.
