  1. Finding an Hotel has been a nightmare. Our original preferred hotel played us along for a month only to let us down badly.

I toured Pattaya looking for a suitable hotel - some were totally unsuitable, some were a little tired looking and some were out of town.

    Basically the spec was:

    * Central Pattaya - we do not want to become involved in transport problems and people becoming lost.

    * The date was set at 27th October to suit attendees. It had to be a Saturday so guys working in Bangkok could attend.

    * The hotel needed a swimmIng pool big enough and of a suitable depth - no drowned LBs.

    * The Hotel needs to provide a Buffet of both Thai and International cuisine at a suitable price for 150 people.

    * The Hotel need to adopt the Drink Coupon to avoid any Unpaid Bins

The selected Hotel has not only agreed to my rigid requirements but has:

Discounted their normal Buffet by 15% to meet my budget of 250 baht per head.

Waived the normal Swimming Pool charge of 7,000 Baht - for towels and cleaning service

Discounted Soft drinks from 45 to 30 Baht to accomodate the Drink Coupon and my spec

Discounted Beer from 80 to 60 Baht

Discounted Gin/Vodka plus mixers from 120 to 90 baht

Discounted Rooms by 10% - people wishing to book will need a special booking reference which I will post soon

It has been a stressful month and I was beginning to think I would need to rethink the overall plan.

I am very grateful to the hotel for accomodating us and I need to underpin the need for everyone to be on best behaviour as there will be other guests at the hotel. The event is designed to also improve the image of LBs by having them participate

Oh yes - the name of the Hotel

The Evergreen - located behind the Areca Lodge on Soi Diana - does anyone need directions..........

    http://www.arecalodge.com/

So the venue is set. I will be paying the 50% deposit this week.

    Now I can proceed with:

Printing Posters to display in the bars

Print 150 Event Tickets which will be on sale in the participating bars or PM me or contact LBWVB@Hotmail.Com

    Print Drink Coupons

    Buy Volley Balls and Net.

    Start collecting Auction items

Arrange for music for the evening.

Continue chasing sponsors - 10 have paid in and 8 have 'pledged' their contribution - I need at least 7 more

Please let me know if you will sponsor a bar - all proceeds to charity.

  2. Interesting 4 th episode.

Thoroughly enjoyed Imm from Alcazar. Nice to see an LB thinking about the future and helping her 'sisters'.

The reality is that there are well over 20,000 Bars in Pattaya/Jomtien/Naklua - more like 50,000. Take Soi 6 - probably close to 100 bars.

The number of sex workers, in Pattaya, was estimated in 2010 to be 80,000+ so their estimate of 10,000 is well below the reality.

Sisters, the self support group for LBs, had over 1,000 members in 2009 and they then only focussed on Central Pattaya bar workers.

There are so many other LBs in Massage parlours, Restaurants, Hotels, Travel Agents and a number of other administrative positions.

The program is about LBs but it was a little misleading - an uninformed viewer may think that only LBs are in prostitution wheras we all know that they are in a minority.

  3. I have been a fan of Musicals since the 1960s.

I agree that Les Miserables, Miss Saigon were terrific. The stage effects were incredible.

I saw Les Miserables when it opened in London (25+ years ago) and the press gave it a terrible review. Joe Public loved it and the rest is history.

The same team did a third called Martin Guerre which was also very good but sadly Joe Public did not flock to it.

Phantom of the Opera was great for effects as was Sunset Boulevard.

I also saw Mame (at Theatre Royal Drury Lane) with Ginger Rogers who I got to meet backstage

Now I live in Thailand I am missing the West End. The last show I saw was The Producers - hysterical.

I have seen Oliver, My Fair Lady, Lion King, Witches of Eastwick, Whistle Down the Wind, Starlight Express and a great number of others.

Musicals can be quite uplifting but there also seems to be a correlation between Dark musicals and the state of Society/Economy. Miserables/Phantom both came out at a bad time in the UK.

  4. Great little place to chill out.

Another was (yes, was) ChaLaLai Cabaret near Drinking St.

Sadly it just closed BUT I am in touch with some of the crew and a new venue is planned.

  5. The ticket is for both the Volley Ball(s) event and the evening - the proposed Buffet is 26 dishes - both Thai and International.

Volley Ball from 2.30 to 5.30 and the Gala evening is 7.00 until 11.00pm

    Ticket price is 1,000 baht

There are 8 bars competing and that is 40 LBs in Bikinis. Obviously in the evening they will dress up but you can take them back home and have them back in (or out) of their bikinis in no time....

We have a big goal to achieve and all the money will go to well deserving charities - please help us out.

It is a great event to promote the bars, the LBs (they get too much unfair bad press) and have a great time with many other Forum members.

I have arranged, with the hotel, for 150 guests. 50 places are taken up with the bar teams/owner and organizers which means only 100 Tickets to sell. Sponsors (I know it is a terrible thing to do) get a complimentary ticket in return for their 3,000+ plus sponsorship.

Hope to see mayn of you there - assuming I survive all the organizing.......

  6. The date is likely to be Saturday 27th October - the prospective Hotel has yet to confirm and submit a revised contract.

I know that sounds a bit formal but we are reserving their Guest Pool area and 150 Persons for an evening Buffet etc

My Thinglish is a bit limited.....

They want to be clear on:

What we are expecting them to provide

They want some guarantee on numbers - that is firm deposit

Agreement on either party cancelling at the last minute

    Teams are

    Anaconda ANA - Red

    Baby Boom BB - White

    CandD CD - Green

    Horny Bar HB - Orange

    La Bamba LB - Black

    Pook POOK - TBA

    Stringfellows SF - Yellow

    TJs TJ - Blue

When the hotel confirms I will instruct the Printers to go ahead with Tickets, Posters and Drink Coupons.

We have set up a separate Bank Account (without an ATM Card) and a PayPal account - so you have no excuses...

Charity money will be raised by:

Entry fees - bars all pay an entry fee to participate. They get most of this back in prize money

Sale of tickets - bars will have tickets on sale - there are only 100 Tickets as 50 attendees are the participating LBs/owners from the Bars and Umpires

    Donations - via PayPal/Bank Transfer

Sponsorship - Please PM me if you are interested. We are hoping to have an award for the most sponsored bar. Includes a complimentary, non transferable, ticket.

Auction Items - these will be published prior to the event so you can bid on line - the actual auction will be at the Party.

There is an Email account set up to contact us:

    LBWVB@Hotmail.Com

This is also the Pay Pal account Email ID - if you use PayPal please enter:

Which Forum: LBR (this one), LBQ, LB69, LBP, SFF

    Forum Name: eg. Rossco etc

Type of Payment: Ticket (TKT), Donation (DON), Sponsorship (SPO)

Bar Sponsored: ANA, BB, C&D, HB, LB, POOK, SF, TJ

  7. Mardhi

Looking good - hopefully all the critics complaining about lack of talent will now climb down.

    Nice team and friendly too....

Sunny with her new implants just looks great - especially in a red bikini draped over the pool table - now I know why the balls do not run true on your pool table.

  11. Bar participation is 50% there.

I would rather wait until I have the 6 bars signed up before announcing the confirmed contestants.

Sadly Sally's Bar will not be involved - they were ardent supporters in 2008/2009 and I am sad that they are not involved BUT we have new and keen bars to support this event.

I am now getting worried that I will need to reject bars as we become over subscribed - what can I do?

Maybe elimination contests in my pool at my house - you can pay to watch........

  12. Due to my PC stolen I lost all my photos from the Volley Ball match before - have any of you guys got some photos both of the actual Volley Ball competition but also of the Gala when all our LBs looked so good? Be good to have a reminder of the last event so the newer guys know what we can do when not mongering!

  13. The LB Event of the year October 2012 – You are all invited

You have 5 months to plan your trip – this event is for you

The Olympics are in the UK this year but Pattaya is hosting the first LadyBoy Water Volley Ball competition. LBWVB.

    * 30 LB in Bikinis playing Water Volley Ball in a swimming pool – Only dreams are made of this. Bring your camera.

The event will be in late October (20th/27th) and will take place at a Hotel in central Pattaya. Negotiations in progress.

The event is not specifically supported, nor affiliated, to any particular Forum – this is an independent Charity event.

The Event is organized to raise money for Charity – our objective is 150,000 Baht shared between these 3 charities:

    • Sisters Association – providing support to LadyBoys

    • Care 4 Kids – a charitable organization, supported by Jesters, taking care of deprived children

    • Rotary Club – create and drive projects to help unfortunate Thai communities in poor areas

  14. I have been asked, by an existing bar owner, to promote the sale of the bar.

The bar is an existing successful bar with a good reputation with many of us as regular clients. The bar has operated successfully for a number of years.

The reason for asking me to post is to see if there are any genuine buyers here on this forum.

The bar has possible accomodation for the owner within the building.

If you are interested then please send me a PM with your personal email address. The owner is trying to avoid time wasters. For those seriously interested then please contact me.

There is a brand new lease for 3 years with the normal possibility to renew for a further 3 years.

  15. It was seedy with a capital S. I also enjoyed a few drinks in there and also S

It certainly would not be a good bar to commence your interest in LBs and certainly a bit daunting for a newcomer but it had its place in the scene.

I agree with Jimbo that it actually never put pressure on customers. I noticed that the HiBoss Internet shop is still opn so I suppose their business has gone virtual...

  16. Good point re Social Welfare. Everybody wants it but nobody wants to pay for it.

Look at the US - the only 1st World country not to have a nationwide medical care program. They all want it but nobody wants to pay for it. The rich claim they already pay their way (insurances etc) so why should they pay/subsidize for others. Many administrations have tried but all find huge opposition. The drug companies and hospitals do not want to drop their prices so medical care remains relatively expensive.

At least in Thailand I can visit a pharmacy and pay a reasonable amount for most drugs. In the UK they charge over 8 USD per item on prescription (National Health system) - I can buy many items here for half of that. Where does the difference go? The pharmeceutical company purse.

I believe Thailand is in the same dilemma. I laud their increase of a minimum wage - 300 baht a day. In the West this would be a pitiful sum. However the employers will just pass on the increase to the consumer. Government needs to raise taxes to provide welfare - as a small percentage of the poulation pay significant sums in taxation then the alternative is to increase sales tax - that increases prices which in turn hits the minimum wage earner.

Yingluck has also promised that Post Op LBs can have their ID card changed to "Mrs" from "Mr" - now that is a good sign in the country finally recognisong the right for a person to change their gender. It only applies to Post Ops.

  17. There has been some interesting discussion cocerning how much a person needs to live comfortably here in Pattaya (I cannot speak for more rural areas).

Thai Immigration require a foreigner to have either 65,000 Baht per mobth income (Pension) endorsed by their own Consulate or 800,000 Baht in the bank.

They are not that far off what is required in my own humble opinion.

  18. In the Nation Yesterday

Chart Thai Pattana Party leader Chumpol Silapa-archa on Sunday denied speculation that he was planning to meet ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in Hong Kong in order to form the next government.

Speaking before his flight departure, Chumpol said he planned his trip a month in advance to boost tourist arrivals.

Sounds a little too convenient that the leader of a party would visit Hong Kong on the night of the Election result......
