  1. I always found getting an invite to a party was the best trick... Of course that isn't easy but if you make some good friends in bkk its possible.

You could even get on the front foot and ask a contact to bring her friends to a Thai club in Ratchada rd and see who comes along. Discretion being very important of course. Worst that'll costs is 2000 baht for a bottle of whiskey and mixers to invigorate your companions.

  2. For all the passionate debate everyone seems to be forgetting that conspiracy theories remain just that because there is not enough compelling evidence to rewrite history. Most are nothing but a good tale. And like anyone i do enjoy a good show!!

  3. it seems like you never have issues with the official line.....say it aint so azza

Just depends how one defines anything. As we all talk as if nth hand information is absolute, one must question our own biases wouldn't you think?

As for wt7, if anyone honestly believes that was a planned detonation then present me with the people that actually planted the charges? Bring me the ctv footage of all the ordinance going into the building, bring me something other than speculation!! The is no credible 1st hand evidence folks. Just pages of rubbish.

The people who think 9/11 is an inside job are lost.

Any Willy, you are still wrong on Cambo ;)

  4. Climate change will be to blame

If a mini ice age does start it will be in North West Europe due to the fresh water melting in Russia buggering up the Gulf Stream. The world will still be getting warmer on average so the theory goes. Ships wil be sailing around the North West passage by 2050 for 6 months of the year... hence the rush to stick flags in the Arctic. Of this there is no doubt

The only constant i know with the climate is that its changing.

One topic we covered at uni days was "predicting the predictability of weather" .... That name says it all iimho.

  5. This has been a very interesting read...I have not read the Michael Hastings report, having never heard of him before now,so unwilling and unable to comment. Getting back to the JFK assasination, neither of the opposing camps are gonna change their minds, because their minds have already been made up by probably countless years arguing these exact positions.

I wont labour the point,so we will have to agree to disagree on that one.

9/11...now thats a completely different matter.I was discussing today with a 9/11 truther the veracity of that conspiracy theory ......in my case ,it is (almost) impossible for me to believe that the US government would actually pre-dynamite the twin towers and explode them on cue....for me,it is just too awful to comprehend....YET,there are so many unanswered questions re 9/11......questions that have never been answered thereby causing the "truthers" lobby to grow and grow.........One question i would love answering.....Building 7 ,next to the twin towers.....never hit by any plane......it looks ,unmistakeably like a flawless controlled demolition,to anyone who has seen the footage of its collapse....it doesnt look like it could it have been anything else.....and of course there was the famous quote recorded of the owner of bulding 7 (i forget his name) saying "we'll have to pull it".....what on earth could he mean unless it was already primed and ready to" pull"?.....ever heard an explanation of building 7's collapse (that you believed?)

    anyone?

Yes i have seen the engineering explanation behind building 7 and have no issues with the official line.

Doesn't take much reading to answer these absurd topics.

  6. Just on the conspiracy about global climate change: good article in one of our papers about the lack of solar activity just now - Has the scientists baffled.

They linked the quiet solar activity back in the to the "mini ice age" period in The northern hemisphere.

Lack of solar activity causing extreme colds periods in the northern hemisphere.

Guess the build up of ice in the polar regions and extreme weather in the northern hemisphere could in fact be attributable to something natural.

But I'm guessing those with an agenda wont discuss such an important scientific observation.

  7. I don't broadcast where i go to friends, but if they ask i wont lie because im embarrassed about the stigma associated with Pattaya.

Doesn't seem to matter too much the location... If you say you are off to Thailand... They assume the usual.

Neither confirm nor deny any antics that go on and if they ask about Pattaya i just say its popular as it cheap accommodation, lots of golf courses close (so I'm told) and reasonable beaches offshore.

The usual snigger & comments about ladyboys follows to which i reply, ''its Thailand... You just turn the light off'".

Ive been going to Phils for the past 5 years, and a Malaysian girl from work asked "why you go Philippines?, only pedos go there!" ... So if you think Pattaya has a stigma...

  8. I am wiser than this man, for neither of us appears to know anything great and good; but he fancies he knows something, although he knows nothing; whereas I, as I do not know anything, so I do not fancy I do. In this trifling particular, then, I appear to be wiser than he, because I do not fancy I know what I do not know.

Why do people believe in highly improbable conspiracies? In previous columns I have provided partial answers, citing patternicity (the tendency to find meaningful patterns in random noise) and agenticity (the bent to believe the world is controlled by invisible intentional agents). Conspiracy theories connect the dots of random events into meaningful patterns and then infuse those patterns with intentional agency. Add to those propensities the confirmation bias (which seeks and finds confirmatory evidence for what we already believe) and the hindsight bias (which tailors after-the-fact explanations to what we already know happened), and we have the foundation for conspiratorial cognition.

Sums up things rather well i would have thought.

  10. I think it's one that is used for some forms of VD. Don't take with antacids and avoid much sunlight after taking Zithromax.

You are correct i think. Its a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Personally... my use was for an ear inflection... just for the record

  11. I nearly completely lost it on Zithromax once at kl airport. Could hardly stand up. Was so lucky i got 3 empty seats on the plane and could lay down. Read the warning label later and can confirm the side effects noted were accurate!!

  12. I hear you Lefty.

They are known as drugs of last resort. I wont use norfloxacin which is the usual one they give tourists in los.

I only use cipro if the issues go on for several days. Personally find it very very effective.

  13.

Case in point - I was at an Asian restaurant before Xmas when the owner came over & my friend asked him: "ya gearin' up for Xmas?"

The poor guy couldn't even understand he was being asked a question. I said to him "you have no idea what he just said, have you".

Gold Paccers. You have to love these everyday expressions that confuse the utter shit out of the poor folks.

Simplest one i found was "How ya' goin'?" ... Newbies are completly screwed with that one.

  14. Guys it takes 2 seconds of research to realise the topic is nonsense.

"In a 1999 civil trial that did not name the US government as a defendant and sought $100 from Jowers[vague], with both the family and Jowers cooperating together and the only presenting parties, the jury ruled that Loyd Jowers and others, including unspecified governmental agencies, were all part of the conspiracy to kill Martin Luther King Jr.[3][4]"

    It's old news this.

Remember burden of proof in a civil trial is a little lacking....  :hi:

  15. Could be a good time to buy a condo if one were so inclined

I've had some of those thoughts

Been doing some research on financing options... From what i read unless you have a mrs, its near impossible to finance a condo in LOS.

I did read that the Singapoore Branch of Bangkok bank does finance Thai properties....

Anyone know much about this area?

Edit: just been doing some research and found two good links
