  1. Yes when I was up in the village, only my girl, a gay lad (who died) and one other Yank spoke English - well I not sure about the Yank!!!!!!

I felt embarassed and sad that I could not talk to Palmmy's very disabled grandmother or her friends.

But as you get older your brain can only cope with so much.

My dad spoke 6 languages he said it was like being able to play music you either could or you could not.

I never really cracked any language so no hope with Thai, tired Welsh started and gave up when I realised how easy it made French and German look.

So will have hope that when I go to ,my friend will do all the talking and expect I will do all the paying.

    Keep safe all of you

I thought the same when I moved here but completely the opposite and you will find the same Annat with your girls family .

I said from the start I am not a rich man and have never been asked to help the family with out getting the money back in a specified time , everyone needs a hand out now and then  In my case I have got it back in full .

It will be a culture shock at first but it will work out in the long run , its way different living full time than staying a couple of weeks

Yes agree nearly did it 5 years ago but when I looked at what I would save in rent here in UK, council tax, electric water gas  car tax petrol etc. it looked a good deal as I had already done house and bought car - sadly when i looked into the cost of my pills and potions plus my health insurance and the loss of my business it became more expensive to go to Thailand

Also I am lousy at languages, hate the heat above 32degrees and totally hate snakes

so I was born in the UK and will no doubt die in the UK

though I have been coming to Thailand for 47 years

  3. The Ducks duely arrived yesterday, 100 in number, so more added work for my girl. But she put the rubber to bed on Monday after 7 weeks of working nearly every night.

For those of you who do not realise, working on a Thai farm is gruelling labour. 7 dyas a week 52 weeks a year.

Many families will be pleased that the Ladyboy member has returned home and can take a lot of the manual labour off elderly parents shoulders.

While my girls family appreciated the money she sent - they really appreciate her return and she works bloody hard.

Of course they really appreciate that she has silly old friend who send a few bhts now and then.

They are suggesting I go live there so I can be looked after - must have ATM stamped to my forehead.

Well as the money has gone to the ducks and following me being a dick - my two favourites at Sweethearts will have to do without their odd drinks  for a while.

Hi there Jimbo,   There is no pulling the wool over your eyes.  Who else would have figured someone using the handle ‘Pyongyang’ could possibly be the same genius who branded the other Board as North Korea-repressive by calling it ... Pyongyang !!! ???   Only Jimbo the sleuth… Hope you also realize it was a deference to you so as not to use ‘Rom’ to your face …

You should also have sleuthed by now that my online ethos is for ALL my interventions to have information and/or entertainment value.  Wondering if livestreaming is becoming a new, more profitable business model that will displace or (more likely) raise the costs to the user of old-fashioned bars with barfinings is a very timely and pertinent concern for all of us non-bar owners stranded in the faranglands. If more money is to be made selling drinks through livestreams, in the future no ladyboy will accept to be barfined by old geezers or it is gonna cost us way more… Perhaps Jimbo you could help us preparing for that eventuality by sharing a little more on the huge financial success that Sweethearts livestreams seem to be...

Many BMs think of me as a wild and crazy carefree dude in a Romscars world of his own, but au contraire I am quite the cerebral monger.  When I go to a bar I don’t just seat there and party on with the ladyboys. I also like to assess the operational aspects of the bar and, among other things, estimate what the break-even nightly revenue might be for that particular bar, i.e.: how much gross revenue the bar needs to average per night to pay for costs.   For example, a little beer bar in a big plaza with 2 or 3 captive staff can get by on as little as 1-2K per night; a hole-in-the-wall kinda bar in Chayapoom or Jomtien with 5 or 6 staff can keep going on 4-5k per night.  I was only once at Sweethearts pre-covid and my estimate was that it needed like 20K a night to keep going on such a prime location and with the 7 or 8 ladyboys I counted… and including a minimum 2K self pay off for each Jimbo and Cindy … am I wrong or am I right?

That’s why the 21K+ estimate in lady drinks Sweetharts got in the livestream yesterday is potentially a game changer from the 20K Sweethearts was not getting otherwise.   In fact I have since learned from one of their staff I befriend on FB that she got bought 12 lady drinks yesterday for 2 on-camera shifts.    If each of the other 14 ladyboys also got 12 drinks, that’s 15 x 12 = 180 drinks.  Throw in at least 20 more for Jimbo and Youngone and that’s 200 drinks.  At 140 a pop that’s 28K.   Possibly more if more drinks were sold… Now we must also factor in that livestreams are not every night so at the end of the week, it averages out lower towards 20k…

But the point is that livestreaming may be here to stay as them bar owners and ladyboys earn more and more revenues from viewers who have never and will never set foot in Thailand.  With the "250" viewers Jimbo said were online yesterday, that's potentially way more revenue than the 20 or 30 punters max who would visit Sweethearts on a good night…   Notwithstanding Jimbo's assurance that he intends to run the bar in the "traditional" way, he/Youngone are rational businessmen and they may not if more money can be made otherwise.  A hybrid bar model would be more likely in the future with livestreams and some barfining of ladyboys subject to the livestreaming priorities.  All they need is to figure out a better way for more of the growing number of online viewers to feel comfortable to buy drinks anonymously, and the money will be flooding in like never before.   Is the writing on the wall ???

Amazing I go to the bar to have a drink, meet friends and chat to ladyboys not to do a finiancial review but different things turn on different people

  7. Thanks for kind words and support.

Strange world sitting here 9 days in, wondering if I am suddenly going to be struck down with the virus.

So much advice, so many different thoughts and knowledge.

Some saying you past the worst probably going to be ok, others saying after 14 days you might be in hospital.

So learning to be calm, watch netflix/amazon, look at the forums, read my kindle and do some of ebay shop work  (though struggeling to get carried away with work).

Will see what tomorrow will bring, my daughter is on the mend, though still in bed most of the time.

Anyway, another thank you, it helps to know people are routing for you

  8. I also had test today so waiting to see what is what - to be honest worried I am too old, diabetic and heart so we will see.

But in Pattaya a closure is sure to finish a number of bars that are only just hanging on.

The girls/LBs are going to suffer badly, unless they work for some one like Sweethearts who will support them for a month, many I am sure will return home if they can. Those who cannot for various reasons are going to struggle.

    What a start to 2021

Happy New Year from lockdowned Wales

great art work Quinn wish you stop making the two of better looking in your artwork

wish Teya a happy birthday and give Emmy a kiss from me, always had a soft spot for her.

keep well you two old people

as I said elsewhere I am in enforced quarentine, cannot leave home until midnight on 4th jan. Went to my daughter for Xmas who tested negative on Tuesday last week but another girl in office was ill, but would not go home, now all three in the section including my daughter tested possitive on Boxing day. So I am waiting to see if I have it, rather frightening as I head to my 70th and having just to sit at home and see if you get the symptons and then if you can trying to fight this virus and trying not to die, great start for 2021. But then i knew the risk when I went felt I had to see her. thats what dads are for

Thats very cold for Thailand it was 12 degrees in lockdown Wales today

It was 14 degress in Chiang Mai in 2010 when i was there and the army was giving out blankets

  11. so now we will see if they manage a pandemic in the country

though i note the government says it is the fault of foreign workers even though a Thai was first reported with it

    wonder what will happen next

  12. Dare I point out that American Samoa is only a  part of Samoan Islands, the other part which a member of the Commonwealth and was originally a German Colony that became part of the British Empire. New Zealand look after it until 1962

  13. being lockdown again with rain everyday for the last six.

I have been saved by netflix have so far watched Korean series Empress Ki 32 of 51 episodes these are where the girls are stunning even the older ones, the men are men and baddies are real baddies.

Also have watched Barbarian not that good, Queen's Gambit a bit slow about chess

Funny so many police/detective/legal shows are so dark and have very strange characters, nothing is simple any more - there are twists and turns and counter plots all over the place.

Also watching Amazon who have a few good films on for a change

Grunt is still around Mr Annat, but very busy.  I have organised a group of people to patrol Jomtien and Pattaya and remove any dry-stone walls and stiles to make things safer for you when you return. I must confess that we are not finding many though.

a few potholes around i'm afraid, are you okay with them?:hi:

Grunt you are like long lost brother, getting the land safe for my return

I am totally and utterly enamoured with a gesture of this kindness

    keep well
