This may be weird but I get no buzz at all until its time to go .

In fact I only begin to look forward to things once the plane takes off .

generally speaking philipino food is imminently forgettable with the 'local favorites' not really my cup of tea

I would have it down as unforgettable ...its disgusting .

Its funny how every country in South East Asia has great food apart from the Philippines .

Best to stick to foreign food certainly in Angeles , Margarita Station is good with a good range of Thai and Chinese dishes , Tequila Reef Mexican restaurant is not bad and there's a little family run Thai place a little off the beaten track which is very good  not sure the name of the place but EyeMakk knows it .

Dongtan Beach in Jontiem is a great spot for a romantic ol' devil like you Dave .

Its a lot quieter than Pattaya and obviously the beach is far nicer , all the daytime deckchair vendors stay open for drinks and many have BBQ's it has a real nice relaxed vibe to it .

Put it down to heat exhaustion and the humidity it couldn't be the multiple litres of wine

I used to like the place years ago and spend a lot of time there. But a few years ago they started a charge up front thing for the girls that lasted a while and then every LB was demanding 1000 ST so like many others I stopped going. I won't miss the place at all.

At had been going downhill for years , I haven't been in a for a year or more I'll not lose any sleep tonight at its closing . 

What is really perverse is the people who come to live in Thailand, and whinge about the number of immigrants to their own country.

Very true I have heard it a few times myself and the irony seems totally lost on them.

Unfortunately big mouths and small brains seem to go hand in hand . 

These people seem extensively to be English also , I'm not having a pop at my English friends here but I've yet to meet a Thailand moaner who wasn't  from dear ol ' blighty .

They all hark back to the good ol days before their country and culture was destroyed by immigrants , so their solution is to go and inflict their superior culture of bad fashion sense , foul language , all day drinking and general loudness on another country .

I'm sure Pattaya is culturally richer for their imput .
