Ask people whether they'd prefer being in a foreign land doing whatever, however, whenever versus being woken by an alarm clock for work at least 5 days a week. I think we all know the true answer.
I'm sorry, but I don't believe for one second that someone can claim to be just as happy back home
I guess self-denial is one way to deal with reducing the Thailand Blues.
You are basing that solely on your own experience .
If someone offered me the chance to live out the rest of my life in Thailand now I wouldn't take it.
To me Thailand is somewhere I holiday , I would like longer breaks there especially in winter but I couldn't live there .
I'm a home bird .

Over the years I am sure we have all read posts by guys saying how much they hate being home and live for their trips to SE Asia. They make it sound like a living hell as they count down the days to their next trip/fix. Personally i enjoy being home, I always make the most of the situation I find myself in and avoid the "grass is always greener." way of thinking.
I'm happy here even if I won the lottery I'd still live in Ireland its a beautiful country .
Sure I'd like more holidays but you can't have it all .
When I return from Thailand it takes me a week or two to adjust and settle but after that I'm fine , you can't beat the comfort of your own home and your own bed .
I feel sorry for guys who spend their lives counting the days until they return to Thailand there is much more to life than that life is for living every day .

Longer you stay or visit thailand you become better informed of how you like to spend and where.
Too true .
If you throw your money around you are no better thought off infact you are seen as a mug .
I have a daily budget and with an ever falling exchange rate it gets further depleted I have to cut my cloth to suit .

Definitely a good line up in Lita's now as good as its been in a long long time .
I love Litas Bar but the only problem is I can't go there for a quiet night , Lita always produces shots and cocktails and after that its 3 sheets to the wind ....ah well I suppose there are worse things in life

A few years ago a ladyboy who shall remain nameless and I were getting ready to to out for the evening to Walking Street .
She came out of the bathroom with just a skimpy top and underwear and high heels and slung her handbag over shoulder and that was her ready ...I had to do a double take .
I asked her did she not want to wear a dress or skirt and she said no she wanted to look sexy .
Later that night I was carrying her piggyback down Walking Street as she was mau mak mak a couple of young buckaroo's thought it would be smart to remind me that it might not be a bona fide lady hanging on to my neck .
One of them shouted "Oi mate I don't like the look of the one you're fucking "
To which I retorted "Well she's better looking than the one you're fucking "
They both stopped and looked at each other quite bemused ...... and then the penny finally dropped ........

Yes normally Pattaya to Bangkok taxi's are a necessary evil and pretty uneventful but that one was strangely erotic .

I have told many of you over the years the tale of the dude who came into Pooks Swan one night with a headless, armless and legless clothes mannequin and has a drink with "her" while watching the comings and goings. One of the most unusual things I have every seen in Patts and that is saying something. Here is the gent in question along with his tilak. Legend!
That is some picture .
Pattaya has probably one of the highest proportion of "interesting" people per square mile than anywhere else on earth .
I remember seeing a naked guy with just a cowboy hat on standing pissing into the oncoming traffic on Beach Road at 12 midday one day .
Nothing surprises you in this crazy city .

I have a theory that perhaps smart phones are a major part of the reason why guys get ignored.
You could be on to something there and I don't think its unique to the Thai bar scene .
In my city I see people sitting in restaurants not taking and playing with their phones , ignoring the person facing them who is probably doing the same .
People walk down the street with their heads down gazing into Facebook absorbed in reading what their friends had for breakfast totally oblivious to the real world around them .

Yes let me elaborate
As my handsome friend will agree we were refused entry to the said disco because we were in the company of two respectively dressed LBs , apparently they didn't allow them though we did see some giving a backhander to the door staff and getting in ,
The girls were upset and to be honest I wish I had of done more , they were wankers .

Goodness me that is a strong accent, almost as though he's playing to the camera.
Yes I think he is, apparently he has a YouTube page where he does impersonations of that Irish legend Daniel O'Donnell .
It is a cracking accent though and yes people do talk like that especially in the Derry direction , when someone from there say's the word one as in " I'll have one please " it is pronounced waaaannn .
Speaking of Daniel O'Donnell I remember reading a few years back that Barack Obama planned to acknowledge the part he had played in American history when he visited Dublin .
I had to do a double take but he was in fact referring to Daniel O Connell who was a strong advocate for abolishing slavery and not the County Donegall warbler .

And there's me thinking all Americans wanted to be Irish

Is being at home shit?

You started out with a pretty bold statement there but I'm glad to see you can now admit that a least one of us is happy now.
Me I've just been for a cycle along the riverbank in the spring sunshine , home for a quick snack then out later to play football with my mates .
In between I'll go online and buy a few records I've been after I'm pretty busy most weekends Djing now .
Not long to summer when I'll spend most weekends in the mountains ...ah the great Irish outdoors .
I might even curse the British Royal family out loud secure in the certain knowledge that I won't get eight years hard labour for doing so .
Life sure is shit ...when I'm tucked up all snug in my new bed with freshly changed sheets tonight I might dream of a 400 Baht room in Soi Buckaroo with faulty aircon
