The primary 30 year lease on the whole property is up in July. Individual leases on bars are immaterial. New owners (leasees) plan to up all the rents and don't care if bars move out. They plan to open their own bars, pump up the patron numbers and then unload the bars on newbys. Time will tell of Nana becomes a thing of the past. A better idea is open a bar with a real lease on Soi 4.

It’s not *that* silly. Soi Bangla, Walking Street, Soi Cowboy, and Patpong are already closed; Soi 4 is the last holdout.

It could be that Soi 4 will be closed only to Soi 6. And access to anything beyond could be via Soi 6 or the Tobacco Monopoly.

The Nana Hotel and Dynasty Inn might bitch, but they know who their customers are, and it wouldn’t take much to convince them of the trouble they would be in should NEP disappear.

Note that Soi Bangla, Soi Cowboy and Soi Patpong 1 & 2 are all privately owned and not public throughfares. Walking Street is dominated by bars and bargoer establishments (rest. etc), so little resistance, I suspect. Most don't know, but Soi 4 has a very large residential community further down as well has some Thai high rollers who would not be amused! Glass

I didn't read all the great arguments here, as most of it's not really applicable to me. The relative cost differences aren't really important to me - I'm there once a year, and the additional cost for BKK is just part of my budget.

A trip to LOS for me is incomplete without a few nights in BKK at the end before my return home. I think I began by doing 2 weeks in Pattaya and 2 nights in BKK, and then I've been steadily increasing the number of BKK nights as I get more accustomed to the charms of the Big Mango (or whatever silly term we're supposed to use today to describe it). In fact, this year I'm spending 18 nights in Pattaya and 4 nights in Bangkok, and I'm sure I'll wish I'd made it 5 or 6 nights in BKK. The quality of the hotels I usually get in BKK are about double that of the nicest I've found in Pattaya, and the hustle and bustle of the big city are invigorating.

A trip to LOS is incomplete without an evening spent at my first LB bar - Guess Bar - and a few nights spent at Nana Plaza and the other entertainments of Patpong and Soi Cowboy.

With that said, I will always love Pattaya and it will probably remain #1 in my heart, especially now that we have our own "Guess Bar North" in Anaconda. That's Guess Bar East or Guess Bar South, as a matter of fact.

Never knew Candy and never slept with her despite various positive reports from others.....I know Anney very well and she was seriously one of the coolest, nicest ladyboys I have ever known, and despite the many chances I had to have casual sex with her I never did, not wanting to ruin our friendship.

Ning seems to be very very popular - she keeps getting barfined out, as indeed are all the girls in Anaconda - everyone of them is very happy so it seems. Two nights ago, only the cashier remained - every other girl was barfined out.
