Pdoggg
I recall reading somewhere that starting January 16th Pattaya bars can stay open until 11PM? What have you heard?
Quietguy
I think that is what was being suggested last November. One reason I booked my trip to arrive this weekend. But since then the Omicron variant has spread rapidly and they have imposed stricter regulations again. btw I got my fit to fly PCR negative test result by email last night. I'll get it printed out today, then all ready to fly tomorrow.

What have you heard? At least one bar in Bangkok announced today that they would be open now again until 11 pm: Also: The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) prepares to reduce the level of COVID-19 alert, and is recommending to do the ATK test only once a week. Dr. Kiattipoom Wongrachit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health told reporters today that during the first week of 2022, the number of infected people increased dramatically but that the number was now stable and will gradually decrease as will the number of critically ill patients. The number of patients requiring tracheal intubation decreases also he said. If this continues, the Ministry of Public Health will consider taking back the level 4 warning. https://www.js100.com/en/site/news/view/113739 Better times ahead soon?

Quietguy
Well I arrived ok at 6am, getting through airport was quick, less than 20 minutes. It helps to have all necessary documentation printed out in a folder. The officials did not looked at the online documents, only printouts. A short delay of about 20 minutes waiting for my taxi, not in the same place as the others, but the organisers found it. Stopped at Jomtien Hospital for PCR test en route took about five minutes in and out. Then on to the Venue arriving at 8am. I was told at 3pm that I had passed PCR test and could leave so went out to change money, 45.13 Baht to £ Sterling. Certificate delivered to hotel at 4.30pm. Jomtien Hospital also made an appointment to return for second ATK test on Friday. I thought I would go to livestream at 9pm, but when I got there I had missed it as bars have to close at 9pm so the livestream had been from 8-9pm. Just missed bbg, Quinn and Pdogg. All the bars in Jomtien are closing at 9pm now. Police are driving around in cars and on motorbikes to make sure bars shut at 9pm. Restaurants and bars all shut after 9pm. 7/11s can sell alcohol from 7pm - 12pm. I don't know if alcohol can be drunk outside, probably not. I checked out from the Venue this morning and moved into rental condo. So I'll get to Emmy's Bar earlier, about 7.30 pm tonight.

Papa Sam
Today, the Thai public health minister Anutin again hints that there could be room for the relaxation of covid related measures, including those concerning the Test & Go scheme... The next meeting of the CCSA will be on January the 20th. https://www.nationtv.tv/news/378860709 https://www.infoquest.co.th/2022/164949

Pdoggg
Quote The alcohol drinking hours in the BLUE tourism pilot provinces and districts, including Chonburi (Pattaya) and Bangkok, would be extended from 9:00 PM. to 11:00 PM. only at qualified restaurants under SHA+ or Thai Stop COVID 2 Plus models. They must continue to abide by Covid Free Setting regulations of the Public Health Ministry. It appears the date for this would be the same as provincial color-code changes, Monday, the 24th of January. TPN notes this also needs approval from the provincial governor and disease committee, which will meet to discuss this proposal over the weekend. https://thepattayanews.com/2022/01/20/thailand-covid-19-center-announces-major-covid-19-preventive-measures-changes-including-resumption-of-testgo-scheme/

From February, the program is open to all, however two PCR tests are required. Visitors must take one upon arrival and another on the fifth day of their stay." This leaves me wondering why there's a need for two similar programs: T&G and SB... Edited January 20, 2022 by Papa Sam
