Do You Need To Be Vaccinated To Fly

I have a friend that wants to go to Thailand but doesn't want to get vaccinated.

I believe that there is a 10 day quarantine for unvaccinated people and there is a pool villa which would not be too onerous.

But will he be allowed to fly?   Anyone know which airlines flying to Thailand from the USA don't require proof of vax?

I could not say for sure, but being vaccinated and proof just makes life a little easier flying, not much. But it does.

The 4th of January, is the big day what happening next for Thailand.

If I may speak honestly PDoggg,  if you are a true friend you would not help him with advice on how to stay unvaccinated.  How would you feel later if he gets seriously sick with covid in Thailand?  Or how do you feel about the Thais he will likely transmit covid to from intimate contacts?

If he was my friend, I would tell him "Dude! A pandemic is not the time to monger in Thailand as you will catch and transmit covid.  If you want to risk being stuck ventilating in a Thai hospital it's your call, but choosing not to be vaccinated makes you a MUCH HIGHER transmission risk and you have no business inside an airplane or coming into close sexual contact with other people".

I speak with the authority of someone who, despite having the 3 shots, just canceled his own much longed for New Year trip to SE Asia for this very reason and so I have little sympathy for those who put selfish lustful pursuit above public health safety.

I just add that I don't have any anti-vaxxer friends, as I avoid befriending morons...

If he can't be bothered getting vaccinated then his arse would not be going anywhere soon if it was up to me

I would hope the rules are that he would not be allowed to fly if not vaccinated, certainly wouldn't want him on the same plane as me that's for sure.

Although im a firm believer in vaccination.

Vaccination apartheid is now mainstream.

You can't force or coerce someone to have a medical procedure. But obviously its  flavour of the month to restrict movement, especially in the EU.

If they have tested negative and have a fit to fly certificate. Then yes they should be allowed to fly, observing the necessary precautions/measures in place.

Its really getting ridiculous now.

Omicron has peaked in Suud Afrika, some restrictions have been lifted. At the rate of cases in the UK, its going through the UK like a dose of salts, I expect it to calm down soon.

Besides if you catch it and not hopitalised in the process you have very strong immunity.

I feel the current vaccination is more of a supressant compared to the vaccinations of other diseases anyway.

I second you.

Your post expresses perfectly what I would have posted. I gonna hire you to write my posts in English.

What about the Dengue fever vaccine Dengvaxia in the Philippines. Was a complete shit fest.

Are people morons deciding not to take it?

Looks like they are in your book.

Well Rom, I believe you said you were the only one to judge mongerers were worthy of a Romscar? Or something along those lines.

But I hate to tell you this, I really do, but you awarded a Romscar to an antivaxxer.

Does this by association make you a Moron?.

Happy New Year Rom ;-).

the most moronic thing is that longer term side effects like heart damage and tinnitus have been established for some of the vaccines....

.......meanwhile short term side effects from the second, and third shots are somewhere between no real discomfort to 1 to 2 days of mild fever or illness.

the symptoms of Omicron are mostly close to asymptomatic or 1 to 2 days of mild fever or illness.

So we are being FORCED to pollute our bodies with vaccinations and get sick for a short period to ”potentially avoid” getting sick for a short period.

Its all about freedom of choice.

I'm vaxxed.

Its a medical procedure at the end of the day, if you don't want it, fine that is your choice.

I'm not so concerned at about the disease anymore, but more of the economy, the legality and ethics of the situation we are currently in.

Continued disrupted economic activity will totally fuck up everyone!

Then you will not be dying of covid, but more of things that are/were treatable.

Again im no tin foil hat dude, but I feel there is really something sinister lurking behind all this.

Not you Sith :-).

So really Pdoggg

Your friend will be able to fly pretty sure of that, but there will be so many obstacles, paperwork & quarantine.

He will be thinking, Is it really worth the trouble?

For short time stay like me, no its not. For someone who staying a month or more, yes it is :-).

I agree 100% with what you said.

My body, my choice. And having the vaccination for SURE does NOT mean you are less likely to get it and spread it. It just means you MAY have less symptoms and it may be less destructive on your body.

So as we enter the third and fourth booster shots chasing something that everyone is catching, notwithstanding vaccinations, and is not that destructive to the body, the argument that unvaccinated are endangering other people is negated.

MY BODY MY CHOICE.

Those that defend the best against the variants are those unvaccinated that catch covid and develop natural antibodies.

Well, he can wait then. Hope time is on his side. I agree with Rom , why help him at all when he’s causing mutants to flourish among the unvaccinated and cause problems for the rest. Not his choice, tell him that..

Not for you to say when people can travel or not.

Its for the Thai government to decide entry and all that implies.

Pdoggg has already stated Omicron is in Pattaya, Papa Sam has posted the men in white suits in Tree Town.

I have heard from another source its prevalent there.

But would it stop me from going if I really wanted to go? The answer is No.

Last visit for me was Jan/Feb 2020. It was already starting then and truth be known I was contemplating not going. Then 2 hours before my taxi turned up, fuck it I'm going.

I Wished I sneaked another trip in before the first lockdown.

I am not taking the bait...  but I do want to take this opportunity to share here at LBR a couple memes I almost posted at PY on different occasions, but at the last second held back because they might figure it was me (I had posted memorable Jack Nicholson and The Cure multimedia there)  and whack the accounts:

Think I talked about this in another thread..

Had a friend who passed from covid and didn't want to get the vaccine.

Went to Thailand first time and only had 3 months left in his passport and then got into an argument with immigration that he's only there for 2 weeks but they wouldn't let him in.

Funny guy, more sociable than me but he wasn't the smartest either..

Didn't want to argue with him and show him "my leftist views" are just more common sense but whatever. RIP @ 32 years.

@Fenton : have you ever thought it's not prohibited to be smart one in a while. Even when you try, you post sophisms. You should use this freedom to post something interesting. We're starting a new year after all.

I'm merely expressing an opinion if the OP's friend wishes to travel and the restrictions in place allow him to do so, then he has everyright.

I have not expressed an interest in joining your club?

I was not responsible in anyway for you from being banned from PY.

But from a recent posting a few weeks ago, I can see why they did 555.

You need Six months on your passport to gain entry to LOS.

Immigration over the past few years, their behaviour has been rather strange. Looking at your passport very closely.

In the end I got a new one, to avoid any problems. Never overstayed etc. Just a frequent visitor.

My original plan was to present him with the info along with a recommendation that he not go to Thailand.  Upon further reflection, I have decided to withhold the info from him and not aid him in any way unless he vaccinates.
