Asawin, today even explicitly recommends pubs and bars and karaoke clubs to become restaurants: 41 minutes ago, Papa Sam said: Why isn't the Chonburi governor doing the same? It might be because the Bangkok governor is elected while all other provincial governors are appointed by the Ministry of the Interior. These days some Western TV pundits seem to use the talking point "unelected bureaucrats" accompanied with the requisite snarky sneer on their faces as a way to denigrate the policies of government officials. So the Choburi governor, like Pontious Pilate is appointed, and not beholden to Pattaya barowners. The Mayor of Pattaya is elected and responsive to local business interests but it seems the governor has the power in this relationship.

Papa Sam
There was a CCSA meeting today. If I get it right, restaurants are allowed to serve alcohol on New Year's Eve until 1 am on January the 1st. That's not exactly what we hoped for, but better than nothing I guess... (fuck you omicron!) NYE events with more than 1,000 people are only allowed if everyone is fully vaccinated and - in addition - organizers, musicians and everyone else working there must have a negative COVID test done 72 hours before entering the event. https://mgronline.com/politics/detail/9640000122924 https://www.posttoday.com/social/general/670490 https://www.ryt9.com/s/iq03/3280947 https://tpnnational.com/2021/12/13/thai-covid-center-announces-new-years-eve-alcohol-allowances-and-new-province-rezoning-chonburi-now-joins-the-blue-zones/ Visitors arriving through the sandbox and quarantine schemes from this Thursday on will have to stay in quarantine for seven days. Previously it was only five days. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2231175 No more dark red zones AND Chonburi will become a tourism pilot area from 16 December! https://www.posttoday.com/social/general/670492 But will this really make a big difference??? Papa Sam
Bangkok entertainment venues remain closed until 15 January 22 to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Police General Asawin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, signed the order today which extends the closure of entertainment venues, pubs, bars, karaoke until January 15, 2022 or until further notice to monitor, prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 during New Year. Violators will face a fine of 20,000 baht or imprisonment for 1 year, or both. https://ch3plus.com/news/program/272236
Papa Sam
No more alcohol in Khon Kaen's restaurants from January 1st. KK is where the largest omicron cluster so far spread to other provinces. How long before Bangkok and Chonburi will follow? Is there a CCSA meeting today, despite NYE?
