Flight of choice post pandemic

Evenings folks

I dont know how to conduct a poll on this forum (if there is a feature).

What is your preference flight wise?

1. Direct flight

2. Connecting flight

As for me it was connecting flights, but I do have concerns with the 787 Dreamliner and the A350 (Qatar airways) showing signs of cracks and currently grounded.

Also the fact many aircrews have been laid off along with the aircraft have been in storage for a considerable period now.

They are going to need some serious simulator time or multiple short flights maybe.

I'm leaning towards Emirates and its A380 fleet at the moment. Covid medical insurance included in the price of the flight from December.

During Covid time, I strongly prefer a direct flight as who knows what could happen on the layover.

On my laptop, right above the thread Title you might see Content and Poll.  Fool around with it Fenton; if things get messed up we can easily delete it.  What you see depends on your browser and device.  Things might look quite different on a phone.

In covid times I have only done local flights,  I would like to fly back to Australia but who knows what would happen with the current shit fight happening there at the moment

Yes there is hell up here in the UK. Aussie citizens can't get flights back.

When they try to book they are grossly overpriced or they are cancelled for reasons unknown.

A relative got into New Zealand last year because their skills were sought after, but still had to do the dreaded quarantine.

Have you heard the phrase "AussieWood", Hollywood stars went to Oz by private jet. Matt Damon springs to mind.

Because all Australian states are governed by their own premier,  they call the shots. Australian citizens can't go to another state even for medical treatment or a family funeral yet the AFL football teams can travel Because that state will make money from them .... double standards.

So a Federal system of governance?

My preference nowadays and has been for many years (or should I say it was 'once' nowadays ) would a connecting Flight with Qatar Airways (MAN-DOH-BKK and back), as I personally think they are the best.

If there would be problems with a connecting Flight getting to Bangkok or getting back into the UK then I would quite happily fly Direct with BA from LHR. B)

Qatar was my primary choice Duke for many years. Reached Gold on my loyalty card.

I've done LHR with BA and never again. The bastards accused me of having explosives 555. After the shitfest I was escorted to the gate by the Rozzers.

KLM would be ok if it was both ways. But Air France does the return leg.

Even better one at Doha a few years ago, accused me of having ammunition in my case 555. They wanted to search my case on the belt and I said no. The case is open and observed on CCTV. Told them it was not happening.  Raging argument ensued between myself and Qatari airport security, the case brought up for inspection. Missed my connection to MCR. Delayed for several hours. A lucrative opportunity for me 555.

There was a scam at manila airport, dropping a bullet into your luggage. I tape up my change, but not really bullet shaped, cylinders yes. Just a lot of metal in my case. But bullets are not made out of cupro nickel are they, the scanners can identify the metal and X-ray can confirm the profile. They just wanted a root in my case see if they can nick anything, little twats 555.
