adapting to Covid?

reading Sticks site lately and came across this bit...

https://www.stickmanbangkok.com/weekly-column/2020/11/live-streaming-a-window-into-pattaya-beer-bars/

Now...I had (wishful thinking) suggested on the forum that such a thing would be great (months ago) and hardly a comment was made.

In all the talk about the economic effect of Thai government policy (lock the doors, stick head in sand)many have lamented the hardships on tourist industry, bar owners, the girls and so on.  (Let's face it the ripple effect will be substantial, how many girls and their families have benefited from "sponsors" or loved one who sometimes even move to LOS and build virtual mansions and pump millions into family enterprises, health care, etc.) Well, in these cases the girls or the bars are trying to HELP themselves and I say BRAVO.  If you read the comments the common opinion (by those, who I suspect have not even BEEN to LOS) is that buying virtual ladydrinks is BEYOND stupid. I'm guessing any of these that HAVE been to Thailand are cheap charlies who never buy ladydrinks.

In what I've seen, aside from the guy who runs multiple cams on tripods with a mixer so he can bounce from one cam area to another, these would seem boring.  Girls posturing, laughing and cutting up in Thai, BUT with a little effort this kind of thing could easily rise to the top of the heap. Already there are many blogs from guys who walk or ride a moto around with commentary, often visiting popular spots (hmmm, you could accept gratuity from business owners to feature their place?). Might one be able to charge for daily or monthly feed access?

Personally I'd love to see feeds featuring some members but that kind of thing would have to go thru a private server I suppose. Round table chats, story telling, interactive (youtube has a scrolling text chat section next to the vid).  Coverage of birthdays, special party (if one can HAVE a "party" in these times), I'd like to see the gang hit the beach at sunset, perhaps watch Piddog give frisbee lessons to the girls. Hand the cam to a girl as she strolls the soi to the nearest 7,  cover all the stuff we CAN'T SEE NOW.

That some seem to make MORE on this kind of thing than  usual business is beside the point, which is to help the girls and our favorite bar survive. (some talk has put the actual rebound in 2023 as wide spread vaccine inoculations may not occur until end 2021). Many venues will END. No doubt. Most will change. But the few that can weather the storm will be poised for a rebound I think.

In any event, I find this fascinating.

could there be ladyboy bar interviews with forum stars like BumbleBee? plays put on? (brief Midsummer Nights Dream Thai ladyboy style haha), mini ongoing Thai soapies?  Breaks for weather with Pokki the weather girl? (probably need a translator huh?)

And now the news with TEYA (translator would sure be neccesary for much of this :D

I usually agree with you , JSG, but here i disagree. Buying drinks (water in some cases when they're caught) online truly is just that, beyond stupid.

Just my opinion. And yes, I have been to Thailand. If I want to help a lb friend I wire some baht instead. I have actually done so alot lately.

Fuck Xmas and all that other commercial BS., I rather help a few LBs out while we wait to get back into Thailand.

While I respect Jimbo and Sweethearts owners efforts to make money during corona, its just not for me.

that's you, but there might be others that would consider the "ladydrink" just a donation.

one feature might be the beggers corner where the girls take a seat to sing their tale of woe, sick buffalo, Mom has grown a second head and needs operation, new Maserati is out and I just HAVE to have it, who knows, best bullshit gets "ladydrinks"

:yahoo:

Virtual interactions have never really been my thing, but I have a couple of stateside TGirl/Ladyboy acquiantances that exclusively entertain viewers on sites like Chaterbate.com, and trannycam.com.  So, the good news is the that for enterprising bar owners, they might be able to keep their businesses and girls afloat through the live cam model until things turn around.

In my opinion anything that keeps the bar owners and (more importantly) the girls from starving is a good thing  in my book.

I had to laugh yesterday Seven, when taking a swift look through the live stream from NDTV Assienda bar where they now even have a leader board up for who has paid for the most virtual bell rings,

I may post the YouTube 'livestreams' from the likes of NDTV but I don't actually watch his or any others (with the exception of Steady Eddie Sweeney), but I will and do watch the Vlogs of these YouTubers.

I did send a certain ladyboy 2500 Baht to help her out and I also donated 1000 Baht to the 'Food Fund' via Pattaya FM, that is me done.

Well I may have sympathy for the girls there is no way I am sending money just for the privelige of watching a 'livestream' (that I am not the slightest bit interested in) or buying ladydrinks when I am 6500 miles away.

Charity begins at home :hi:

To be honest, I'm not too surprised hearing that. Oh well. What an accomplishment in life to be on top of that board.

Most people don't want to pay for anything on the internet that can be had for free such as porn or subscriptions.  So I am a bit surprised at how well Assienda is doing with virtual horn blows.  :character00274:   I do think Nick does a good job though with his talk show format, not that I watch very often.  It is more interesting if you've met the guys in the video.  I guess streams where girls are dancing can be interesting but only if you have carnal knowledge of her.

So what makes a guy ring the bell from 6000 miles away?  I think it's about the barowner rather than the girls.  If it was about the girls, you could just send them money direct.   But many guys seem to have a special connection with one or two bars/barowners and have a desire to help them during tough times.  I guess it depends also depends on one's financial situation.  IMO if someone has any credit card debt that they don't pay in full at the end of the month then it is not financially prudent to ring virtual bells or blow virtual horns.

But guys do it so I'm sure they have their reasons.

Trying to curry favour with the bar owner ? Trying to feel important ? Just plain gullible ?

I agree with most of the comments above from all who have posted , if anyone has concerns the more progressive way to help would be to go directly to the bar workers not the owners .

All the bars in my city are closed , my empathy is totally with the already low paid workers who are laid off and struggling , not with the owners

Ditto

I have sent a not inconsiderable amount over the last few months. I hope this covid thing does not go for much longer. Almost all goes to my gf, but a bit goes to those I have known. Yes, I am a fool, but so what. I dont piss it up against the wall or smoke etc. I worked it out that what I am sending, amounts to about the same as an average smoker/drinker goes through. At least I try to justify it that way. Allows me to sleep at night.

Double ditto.

I've been sending some money to a few that I know have it particularly hard back home, and they send me messages and pics about just what exactly they have spent the money on such as extra labor to harvest their rice crop, and, my favorite, a pregnant sow!  Who knew this quiet and sweet ladyboy is at heart a pig farmer!  lol

I'm sure not spending my money on much else during these long stay at home months, anyway.

In the past I have not sent money to lbs from UK. But this is different. A real crisis.

I will also admit to having sent money to help out in these difficult times, even if some might think I'm a 'mug' - I would have thought too that in the past.

But what is a relatively small amount for us can mean a Thai can eat and pay rent.

I hope things will improve and I won't feel the need to help out, but I will while I can.

And I will be saving by not going to los this coming January.

What's the point of sticking money in a virtually zero interest savings account (falling in value in real terms) when 40% will be taken in death duties when I die?

Reading a selection of posts here from you Guys I can say that "Fool & Mug"  certainly does not come to mind for what you are doing ,  more the words of Compassion & Integrity spring to mind.
