seven
The new world order in Laos. And we're worrying about Russia. Laos. It may not be as popular as Thailand, but it's definitely on the backpacker circuit. Take a trip to Luang Prabang or Vientiane, or almost anywhere in the country, and you'll see plenty of European tourists wandering the streets. Except for one place, a place that even the Lao people don't want to visit. In the far northwest of the country, right in the heart of the Golden Triangle and on the border with Thailand, Myanmar and China lies the "Special Economic Zone" of Laos. If you spend just a few minutes there, you'll quickly realize that it's an area that Laos does not control. Who does? You'll have to ask the Chinese mafia that runs it. Locals call the entrance to it the gates to hell. We were soon to find out why. 1
Pulci Gorgon
Last night, I watched a TV programm about China's expansionism in Western countries. In the first segment, they explained how China has established Chinese police stations in Europe and the USA. These stations primarily conduct political policing rather than investigating minor scams or illegal immigration in our regions. Chinese citizens who sought refuge after realizing they weren't free to express their opinions and settled into relatively quiet lives with minimal political activism are pressured to return to China by special police officers. They also face threats and harassment. Upon agreeing to return to China, they are apprehended on China airline aircraft. Subsequent scenes depict these individuals being escorted off the plane by two police officers each, with blindfolds covering their eyes. Chinese television commentary suggests that they will face trial for their prohibited activities. The most surprising aspect has been the tepid response from European countries. On the other side of the Atlantic, the USA reacted strongly. They shut down clandestine police stations, deported police officers, and expelled Chinese diplomats. The second part focused on Chinese espionage activities. China aims to surpass the United States as the world's leading economic power. In pursuit of this goal, they consider it acceptable to flout rules such as dumping, stealing secrets from high-tech companies, or using spies. An illustrative example was provided, detailing how a supposed university professor invited an engineer to China under the guise of exchanging ideas and knowledge. The spy adeptly flattered the engineer before arranging for their participation in a university conference. Upon returning, the engineer's computer was found to be infected with viruses and trojans aimed at stealing their secrets and infiltrating their company's computer systems. A GE engineer who had received a similar invitation was arrested by the FBI and prosecuted after allowing Chinese spies to compromise his PC and obtain GE's secrets. They went on to detail how a military officer working in an embassy in China was manipulated and exploited by Chinese intelligence services. After a lengthy career in the field and special services, the senior officer was stationed in China. He received Chinese language lessons from the ambassador's interpreter and became romantically involved with her. When his wife discovered the affair, she reported him, leading to investigations that revealed the officer had already passed numerous documents to the interpreter. (Everybody knows that an Embassy interpreter in China is a spy. The ambassador did but not the officer.) He was dismissed from the Army but continued to transmit documents. He frequently traveled to destinations like Thailand or Singapore, returning with money that he deposited into his personal bank account. New control procedures, primarily designed to track money from drug traffickers, prompted further investigations, leading to his arrest. As he had ceased working for the Army and could not access fresh information, he was assigned the mission to find someone to replace him and unwittingly assisted Chinese spies in compromising the officer who succeeded him at the embassy. Ultimately, they outlined his spy profile according to the MICE checklist (Money, Ideology, Compromise, Ego). The senior officer amassed significant wealth in just a few years. He believed that European nations were weak under the influence of the USA and preferred to collaborate with China's perceived strength. His unsociable nature in his job also made him susceptible to his Chinese contacts. Finally, he felt his talents had not been recognized by the Army, prompting him to seek employment elsewhere. The individual was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while his successor received an 8-year sentence. Finally, they discussed the situation in Djibouti. Despite assurances from the Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister that China would not engage in expansionism or establish military bases in Africa, they forged contacts with the Djibouti President and effectively turned the country into a vassal state of China. To provide a brief history of Djibouti, it was a French colony from 1883 until its independence in 1977, following a referendum that led to the adoption of a democratic constitution. France maintained Djibouti as a military base to exert influence in Africa, and the USA also established a presence in the country in 2002. Djibouti was renowned among military personnel as a mongering destination, and spending time there was considered a pleasant experience. Djibouti also hosts Japanese and Italian military bases Finally, they detailed the construction of the Chinese naval base in Djibouti. Officially designated as a logistics base with a few warehouses, satellite imagery reveals a substantial runway concealed amidst the buildings, capable of accommodating heavy aircrafts , along with a one-mile-long platform capable of hosting China's largest military vessels. According to a former US general officer who served as commander in chief of Africom, military facilities are constructed underground. This base enables China to expand its influence across Africa. However, a major concern arises from the fact that a family has gained and retained power in Djibouti, with the current president being the nephew of the former president. This second president has gradually transformed the republic into a dictatorship under the guise of democracy, employing police tactics modeled after those of Chinese forces to spy on and pursue opponents both domestically and those seeking refuge in Europe. China has not only provided telecommunication equipment to assist Djibouti in suppressing dissent domestically but also to spy on Western military personnel as soon as they venture beyond their bases. Lastly, it is increasingly evident that China intends to eventually annex Taiwan, employing soft power tactics if possible, or resorting to military force if necessary. In the event of such a conflict, the USA would need to redeploy forces from Europe. Considering its strategic location, Djibouti is ideally positioned to impede US Navy movements between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. China is actively involved in a global chess match as part of its expansionist policies, aimed at countering Western influence with the support of its allies. 1

I have no doubt about it with help from Russia and Trump. 'countering western influence' could mean no more Hooters in Thailand. Its a rude awakening for Europe going on. Its obvious we're at it alone in a near future, around 8 months. Its the americans wish. The Supreme Court sided with the orange grifter today, no surprise as he appointment the conservative judges himself. I never thought I would see a US president supporting a russian dictator. No more Ukranian aid, no more Nato. It's a messed up world but I have faith in Europe and our allies, UK, Australia, France, Germany , Spain , Italy etc. I still believe in our way of life as we know it. America just getting more dumb and authoritarian by the day. Shame really, it was great a few decades ago. 2
Pulci Gorgon
I'm uncertain about what the future holds. If Trump is reelected (which is currently uncertain), I'm unsure whether he will continue to pressure Europe in the face of Russian threats. While I agree with his stance on NATO countries spending at least 2% of their GDP on military expenses, I disagree with his previous approach. I believe European nations should surpass this threshold. Germany has initiated a program to prepare for potential Russian aggression, and other countries should make similar efforts. Particularly, providing Ukraine with more ammunition to combat Russian forces is crucial. I'm less optimistic about Europe than you are. I'm concerned about the possibility of Russia first invading a few Eastern European countries (such as the Baltic states and/or Moldova), while Western countries might deem it unworthy of war for these 'small' nations. This pattern might then repeat with Poland, Slovakia and Romania. When Western Europe is at risk, we might find our allies have already disappeared.

Ukrainian victory is the most urgent for Europe and to maintain our security and the global balance of power. But China's ambitions regarding Taiwan pose the greatest danger, even though one could argue that Taiwan wouldn't bring significant benefits to China if invaded. With that being said, I encountered individuals traveling to China at KL airport. They were likely of mixed Chinese-Malaysian descent. I had the opportunity to chat with a couple of them, and they mentioned that life in China felt easier and more comfortable, with fewer concerns about police scrutiny.

Why you think crooked joe gives away americas money to ukraine.....coz they have the dirt on him and his spoiled rotten worthless son..... All those countries you list couldn't carry americas jock strap......UK can't even get there flag ship carrier out of port and there replacement carrier they sent for the exercises never made it either.....that 2 carriers that can't sail, and who knows when they can and for how long. So good luck counting on them. As for the rest of your countries, i wouldn't give a nickels damn for france spain or italy.........i would say there track record is less than dismall. If we had to count on them, only Australia and UK, would I have trust in. Maybe NATO countries should pay what they owe for once in there existence. But no, they rip off NATO and count on the US to carry their load.......well Trump came along and said no more.....and told the freeloaders to pay up and live up to their obligations....and rightfully so. So either pay up or piss off. I'm sure you're dumb enough to believe that when trump got the cost per barrel at $40, that helped russia? russia can't produce oil at that cost, they lose money. But crooked joe fucked everything up and the cost went to $100 per barrel, which resulted in both iran and russia making multi billions and having the funds to go to war. Your ignorance is only exceeded by your arrogance. If your so worried about russia invasion into ukraine........russia only did it after Trump left office..........Putan wouldn't and didn't mess with Trump.......but he totally told crooked joe to go F-off and so did the rest of the bad players in this world........like Iran..........trump had iran on its knees, then crooked joe rewarded them just like the other trader obama. What u going to do when iran get nukes, thanks to crooked joe.......you will blame it on trump of course......that's what all the simple minded morons do......

Pulci Gorgon
I'm afraid the discussion has lost its sense. Arguments are based on false facts. I'll step back from the conversation until it becomes more engaging.

Good to see a post in this thread which had devolved into coronavirus issues which is better discussed on a political website or forum has been brought back to life with a question about traveling to KL and if any laws regarding sex with ladyboys are enforced. I was only in KL once for a couple days. I saw ladyboys from the Philippines hooking on the street. I didn't partake and sorry and have no recommendations. I am under the impression, but don't really know, that these religious laws if they exist are not enforced but as I said, I really don't know much about KL.
Pulci Gorgon
Regarding KL, I shared my observations from November and December. You should read this post and this post. As I mentioned, the scene was much more interesting 11 years ago. Thai and Pinoy ladyboys have been deported, and the few local ones remaining are not appealing. You'd be better off finding a mall and spending your money shopping. 2
Cinederose
I only ever filmed Penang and the ladyboys on Chulia are rough of course but you meet the odd superstar there for the weekend - i was under the impression they only allow ladyboys not women as men are allowed to prostitute themselves but not women openly , Kl is just the worst place sorry i just did not want to film it , everybody in my hostel stayed inside ( all the hostels actually i was in ) people just wanted to go elsewhere , usually mallacca , lots of foreigners volunteering in hostels with no money , Kl is the last stop for many and i was tired of being followed and scammed , but of course if you are in a hotel downtown it may be different for you , downtown is better then the guesthouse district - Penang of course is nothing like that more Thai and easy going so i usually do not go further South ladyboys of Penang :) 3
