In the early hours of Wednesday two Japanese Tourists reported a knife attack by a Ladyboy which occurred on Walking Street to officers at Pattaya Police Station.

Mr. Kazunari Ito aged 37 and Mr. Honnoshi Imuta aged 28 described to Police, through an interpreter, how they went to Walking Street in South Pattaya and sat inside a Bar when they were approached by the Ladyboy who was invited to join the pair for a drink.

After a while the men informed the Ladyboy that they intended to visit a Massage Parlor. At this point the Ladyboy suggested he could perform a massage for both men back at their hotel room for a small fee.

Both men refused the offer and proceeded to leave the bar but were followed by the ,now angry, Ladyboy who produced a knife and began to attack the two tourists in the middle of Walking Street.

The attacker was able to escape and the victims made their way to Pattaya Police Station just after 3am to report the incident which left both men with knife wounds to their upper bodies which were later attended to at Banglamung Hospital.

The men were able to identify the suspect from pictures stored on a computer at the Station. An arrest warrant for the Ladyboy has now been issued but he remains at-large for now.

An update on the 2nd road fire:

On Wednesday Morning Provincial Fire Investigators along with Provincial Police Forensic Officers attended the scene of a major fire which caused extensive damage to 5 buildings close to the South Pattaya entertainment area on Tuesday afternoon.

Initially it was thought that welding sparks caused the fire and an estimated 100 Million Baht’s worth of damage was caused. It has now been concluded that the fire started in the hardware shop and not the Arabic Restaurant located next to the shop and the estimated value of the damage caused has been revised down to 30 Million Baht.

Police interviewed the owners of both businesses and concluded that roof modification work at the rear of the restaurant had finished 2 weeks before the incident. The only activity at the back of the restaurant at the time of the fire was a woman washing clothes on the top floor.

Forensic officers are confident the fire started at the back of the hardware shop but still cannot identify the exact cause of the fire which they suspect was started by an electrical short circuit in a fuse box situated in a storeroom.

Witness statements given to Police offered conflicting versions of events and they expect the investigation to last at least 3 weeks.

Masseuse stabbed in the neck by Boyfriend in South Pattaya apartment

In the early hours of Friday Pattaya Police and medics were called to a South Pattaya apartment complex to investigate reports of a 26 year old woman who had been repeatedly stabbed by her boyfriend following a heated argument in their room.

The incident occurred at the Porntip Apartments in Soi Jareunsuk, South Pattaya, and the victim, Khun Pornpan, was found at the front of the building after she managed to escape from her enraged boyfriend following the near-fatal attack.

The victim had been stabbed in her neck, twice in her back and once in her left-side and had lost a considerable amount of blood. Neighbors earlier heard her screaming for help as she argued with her boyfriend who was able to escape from the scene before authorities arrived.

Police inspected the victims room and found blood on the floor and the knife thought to have been used in the attack. An opened bottle of whisky was seen and for now Police suspect the argument related to her work as a masseur and may have escalated due to the consumption of the whisky by the attacker. CCTV images show the suspected attacker entering and then leaving the room. He was seen leaving the scene on a Yamaha Fino motorbike.

Police are now urgently attempting to locate the attacker and expect to arrest him soon.

Heard parties are not really allowed in Patts for the next couple of weeks and even Marine disco cuts its music at 1am out of respect

Ive also read the bars in NEP are closed as are the alco-carts on Sukhimvit and only "falang style" bars are open for the moment

News reports say nightlife establishments and other related venues where alcohol is served would be "asked" to close down throughout the national mourning, appointed to be 15 days, due to Buddhist religious belief which frowns on consumption of alcohol.

BANGKOK -- BANGKOK (AP) — Thailand's Supreme Patriarch, who headed the country's order of Buddhist monks for more than two decades, died Thursday. He was 100.

Doctors said that Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara (SOM-ded PRA YA-na-SUNG-WORN) died at Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok, where he had been treated since being admitted for an illness more than a decade ago.

"(The Supreme Patriarch's) overall condition deteriorated and he passed away at 7:30 p.m. from septicemia," or a severe blood infection, the doctors said in a statement.

After he was admitted to the hospital on Feb. 20, 2002, the Supreme Patriarch was able to perform leadership duties for a time, but in 2004, a senior Buddhist monk was appointed to work on his behalf. That monk died earlier this year, raising speculation about who the Supreme Patriarch's successor will be.

His successor will be formally appointed by Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Thailand is the world's most heavily Buddhist country, with more than 90 percent of its 67 million people members of the religion. As the head of the religion, the patriarch has legal authority to oversee different sects of Buddhism.

The Supreme Patriarch promotes Buddhism and leads the Sangha Supreme Council, which oversees the country's Buddhist monks and novices of all sects. The council's job is to make sure monks follow Buddha's teachings and do not violate the rules set by the council.

The Supreme Patriarch was a friend of His Holiness Dalai Lama of Tibet, who called the Thai monk "my elder brother." The Dalai Lama paid several visits to Thailand since his first state visit in 1967, and each time he would visit the temple where the Supreme Patriarch resided to have a discussion.

The Supreme Patriarch was born Charoen Gajavatra on Oct. 3, 1913, in Thailand's western province of Kanchanaburi, the eldest of the three sons. He was still a boy when his father died, and was raised by his aunt.

He became gravely ill as a boy, and his family made a promise to sacred spirits that he would become a monk if he recovered. He did, and he became a novice when he turned 14.

The future Supreme Patriarch moved to Bangkok in 1929 to a well-respected Buddhist temple to continue his religious studies.

He returned briefly to his hometown to get ordained and became a monk in 1933. He was named Suvaddhano — "one who prospers well" — by the Supreme Patriarch of the time, and rose through the ranks of the monkhood. In 1956, when King Bhumibol spent 15 days as an ordained monk, the future patriarch taught and supervised him.

He served as secretary of the Supreme Patriarch who preceded him, and was appointed the top Buddhist monk in 1989, when he took on the name Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara — "a person of great insight."

The permanent secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, Thongthong Chandrangsu, said government offices in Thailand will fly the national flag at half-staff for three days and government officials will wear black outfits for 15 days to mourn the Supreme Patriarch's death.

PATTAYA – October 28, 2013 [PDN]; One Indian tourist named Mr. Sushil Eumar, aged 57-years old, together with his Indian friend, told the police that while they were walking near Pattaya Beach, 3-‘lady-boys’, walked up and closely besieged them, dispossessing the Indians of their valuable ornaments which were fine gold necklaces (22 karats) and lockets, which they stated as having. a value of approximated 1-million THB (Thai baht).

The police revealed that after the initial investigation, they became very suspicious, due to the fact that the value of the lost jewellery was unlikely to be 1-million THB (over US.$300.000). Then the police let the tourists view photographs of local ‘lady-boys’ in their criminal history file, but they didn’t recognise anyone. Therefore the police investigation team questioned them very seriously again, until both of them confessed that they didn’t know where they had lost their fine gold necklaces and lockets.

Furthermore the two tourists admitted that there were no ‘lady-boys’ involved in this case, so initially, the police have released them on a daily notification bond, pending the collection of further evidence. No doubt the police would be wondering if the stolen items really did exist and why anyone would be strolling around with such expensive jewellery.

In the early hours of Tuesday, The District Chief along with Customs officials and Pattaya Police conducted a sweep of bars in and around Walking Street in South Pattaya in search of venues illegally selling Shisha.

Many bars and other venues were checked and warnings were issued for the illegal practice to stop or prosecutions would follow.

One unnamed bar was also found not to have the correct liquor license and was shut down. The owner was arrested and will be prosecuted in accordance with Thai Law.

There was no indication from the District Chief why this crackdown on the sale of Shisha is taking place as the molasses-based tobacco concoction has been available in Pattaya for many years and continues to grow in popularity.

The District Chief has warned venues that he will be back to conduct further checks and this first and final warning is all that will be given.

Aussie Man Accused of Raping 11-year-old Stepdaughter

(31 October) A 50-year-old Australian National was arrested in Pattaya, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi Province, after local residents accused him of raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter.

The girl allegedly told her neighbours that she had been repeatedly raped by her Australian stepfather, Mr. Ben, on at least four occasions. Mr. Ben then threatened her not to tell anyone, including her mother, about the assault.

Pol.Lt.Col.Ohmsin Sukkarnkha, Pattaya Investigative Police Officer, said that the investigation confirmed that Mr. Ben had raped his stepdaughter, despite the fact that he had only been with her mother for 6 months.

Moreover, it is also revealed that Mr. Ben had previously been accused of raping girls aged under 15 on some occasions.

Further investigation is scheduled, as the accused has  denied all allegations. However, the Australian national confessed that he has been illegally staying in Thailand after his visa expired.

To help her cope with the situation, the girl will be staying with the Youth and Family Welfare Centre in Chonburi province. Notably, the centre has become controversial in August after the officers let a 4-year-old girl get raped under their supervision.

I've walked Soi 15 very late at night on numerous occasions.   If on 2nd Road, you cut through the Avenue Mall to go to Soi Buachaou, that's Soi 15.  Being so deserted, suppose it's not the safest soi.  Though off of me all they'd get would be my old Nokia and and about a 1000 baht.

Just after 4.30am on Monday a British National reported an armed street robbery which occurred in a South Pattaya street.

Mr. Raymond Carlyle aged 58 reported the incident which occurred in Soi 15 off Soi Baukao. He was walking back to his Hotel after a night out and was half-way down the street when two men on a motorbike drove in front of him, and with knives drawn, ordered Mr. Carlyle to hand-over all cash and valuables in his possession.

Mr. Carlyle was forced to hand-over 10,000 Baht in cash, a gold ring worth 26,000 Baht and a Samsung Smart Phone worth 10,000 Baht.

Police will check CCTV in the area as they attempt to identify the assailants and arrest them as soon as possible before they are able to strike again.

Roadhouse Bar (aka Sally's):  Was chatting to Som there this evening and she mentioned that there are 8 LBs working there now, and that she has been told to recruit 10 more to add to the 8.  They want to get the bar back to how it was a few years ago,  Should be a good option for a night out if she can pull it off so to speak.
