Ladyboy killed in early morning traffic accident

At 6.30am, on the morning of December 1, Pattaya police and medics were called to Sukavadee Village, Naklua, after reports that a man had been found dead in the road.

 

At the scene twenty-four year old Mr Wittawat Sermkaew told officers he was driving his pick-up truck to work when the victim, a ladyboy, suddenly appeared in front of him and he ran over the man.

The victim, who was not carrying identification, is though to have suffered multiple injuries including a broken neck.

 

The police believe the driver, due to the extent of front-end damage to the truck, may have been speeding in the area and will be referring to CCTV images.

 

The body of the dead man has been taken for autopsy and officers will attempt to make an identification.

The victim, thirty-four year old Indian tourist Mr Arvinder Singh Bhatia complained that as he was strolling along the street he was approached and hassled by two ladyboys who began touching and provoking him.

He says he remained calm and laughed the incident off until he later realised his white-gold necklace was missing.

Officers will review CCTV images in an attempt to identify the suspects.

A warning is issued that crime in Pattaya is on the increase again over the holiday period. On the night of December 20 Pattaya police committed 900 officers to patrol the streets and try to prevent crime.

Nearly 200 Jomtien Beach massage therapists heard about Pattaya’s latest efforts to bring order to the freewheeling industry.

Manop Sakorn, chairman of the Jomtien Beach Thai Massage Club, briefed the 180 masseurs and masseuses on new policies covering both the “free” and “Jomtien” zones, in which therapists wear blue and pink shirts, respectively.

From now on, all those working in the zones must wear a uniform stating their name, phone number and city registration number.

The vendors also must charge set rates in an effort to prevent customers from being ripped off, and masseuses must avoid use of any drugs.

In the case of a dispute, Manop said, a vendor who gets violent with a customer will have his license revoked immediately. For other infractions – such as selling their uniform or allowing family members to take their place on the beach – masseuses are subject to two-week suspensions.

Police catch Thai male selling drugs on Walking Street

At around 8:30pm on January 16^th, Pattaya police were called down to Walking Street to investigate a potential suspect, thought to be selling drugs to foreign tourists.

The suspect was reported by a foreigner, who called police after he had been approached and pushed into buying some drugs, which he politely declined. Police made their way onto the scene and quietly observed the suspect, before moving in.

They immediately searched the suspect, 26 years old and found what they were looking for. A total of 22 ‘yabaa’ tablets were found, as well as some crystal meth or ‘ice’ as it’s commonly referred to.

After questioning, the suspect received that the drugs were actually his, but were fake. Instead of the suspected ‘yabaa’ and ‘ice’, he told police that they were made up of legal drugs such as paracetamol, and that he was selling them to tourists as a way of getting money to pay for his room and food.

Police were not buying this excuse at all, and did not believe that the drugs were fakes. The arrested the suspect and took him down to the station for more questioning. He will be held until further tests are done on the drugs, to find out exactly what they are. Once the police have the full report, they will then proceed to file the appropriate charges against the man.

Briton shot dead in Porsche in Thailand's Pattaya resort

 

A British man has been shot dead in his Porsche in Thailand.

Tony Kenway, originally from Southampton, was killed in a car park in the resort of Pattaya at 14:10 local time, according to the Bangkok Post.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has confirmed it is in contact with local police regarding the death of a British national.

Sanit Sport Club, where the shooting happened, offered its condolences in a message posted on its Facebook page.

It read: "We are very sad to announce the death of Tony Kenway who lost his life this morning. We would like to offer Tony's family and friends our deepest sympathy and condolences at this difficult time. RIP Tony."

'Chubby man'

The Bangkok Post reported that an eyewitness described the gunman as a "chubby man wearing a white T-shirt and black jacket" who opened the door of the red Cayenne GTS before firing once and escaping on a black motorcycle.

Mr Kenway was described as a father-of-four who had set up a website design business.

His Facebook profile shows he lived in Bangkok but previously resided in Marbella, Spain, and had been married to his wife, Pans, since November.

A FCO spokeswoman said: "We are in contact with the family of a British man following his death in Pattaya, Thailand. Our sympathies are with them at this difficult time. We are in touch with the local police."

The devastated family of a British father-of-four who was shot dead in a tourist spot in Thailand say they have no idea why he was targeted.

Tony Kenway, 39, originally from Southampton, was murdered while sitting in the driver's seat of his red Porsche Cayenne GTS at about 2.10pm today (5.10am GMT) outside an exclusive sports club in Pattaya. 

Paying tribute, his sister Kirsty Kenway, 31, from Southampton, told MailOnline that her older brother had a 'brilliant life' in Thailand and his wife, Pans Kenway, 32, was 'devastated' by what had happened.

Mr Kenway's wife gave birth to his fourth child in September.

Ms Kenway said: 'I don't really know what happened to my brother. He's been in Thailand for years and he's been happily married for five years.

• 'We speak quite regularly and I visited him over Christmas. We had an amazing time, taking the kids to water parks and he spent a lot of time with his niece. He loved being with his family. He had four children. 

  'His stepson is 10 and lives in Spain, his son is nine, and he had two children with Pans, a daughter aged three and a baby that was born in September.

  'He absolutely adored his kids and he enjoyed playing with his baby son and he just made sure he looked after his children.'

• She added: 'He had a brilliant life out there and he did a lot for charity, and helped build some schools. He had even met the future King of Thailand. He was very clever and did very well. 

  'He did a lot of work in IT and was a big fan of sports cars, he was a petrol head. 

  'Pans [his wife] is brilliant and she was the light of his life. She's devastated by what's happened.

  I was the baby sister [in our family] and he protected me from everybody. I was the youngest, and he was the third youngest. We have an older brother, Paul, and older sister, Sarah. 

  'We were very close when we were growing up. Tony was like a father figure to me.' 

  Police are investigating links between Mr Kenway and foreign 'boiler room' gangs in Pattaya.

  Officers collected a single bullet cartridge case and a cigarette butt from the crime scene for examination, the Bangkok Post reported. 

  Surveillance video copied showed Mr Kenway walking across the parking area of an exclusive sports club to his Porsche and sitting in the driver's seat.

  The gunman, who had been standing nearby, then approached from a different direction. 

  Immediately after Mr Kenway gets in and shuts the door, the assailant pulls it back open and leans in, apparently shooting his victim in the head, though the action is not distinctly visible in the video. 

  The gunman then ran off to a waiting motorbike with a registration number plate 7992 and sped away.

   

• Mr Kenway's wife, Pans, 32, told police her husband had set up a website design company.

  He recently had a business conflict with a shareholder, but she did know if that was the motive for the murder, the newspaper reported.  

  The killer was a tubby man, wearing a white T shirt, black jacket, sports shoes and a baseball cap. 

  Pattaya is a popular beachside resort town about two hours' drive from Bangkok, and attracts a significant number of Western expatriate residents. 

  Mr Kenway had lived in Thailand for seven years, Colonel Jirawut Tantasri said. 

  Prior to that he had lived in Marbella, according to his Facebook page, as well as Australia and the United States.  

  
  An FCO Spokeswoman told MailOnline: 'We are in contact with the family of a British man following his death in Pattaya, Thailand.

  A spokesman for Nong Prue Police in Pattaya said: 'We have started an investigation and we are looking for the attackers.

PATTAYA — Cops were called in Wednesday night to apprehend a Caucasian man who went on a naked rampage in Central Pattaya.

The man, who remains unidentified Thursday, was seen wandering at about midnight with a knife in his hand close to the Mae Wilai Market located downtown on Central Pattaya Road.

Thongyib Chomdee, a vendor at the scene, said the man charged at several people and tried to damage property, prompting many vendors, including herself, to close down their shops and bar their doors.

Police officers arrived about 20 minutes after someone alerted them and arrested the naked man. He was reportedly taken to Pattaya City Police Station to calm down.

But a call Thursday morning to the police station found they had no record of the man, indicating he was likely released soon after without charge.

“We don’t have any information regarding this person,” deputy commander Lt. Col. Sompan Suksamran said.

Bangkok: Australian man Antonio Bagnato has been found guilty and sentenced to death by a Thai court for his role in the 2015 abduction and murder of Hells Angels gang member Wayne Schneider.

Antonio Bagnato, 28, was charged over the abduction and killing of Schneider, a former Hells Angel bikie, at a villa complex in the seaside resort of Pattaya, 150 kilometres from Bangkok, in 2015.

Bagnato, a kickboxer and one-time business associate of Schneider, had pleaded not guilty.

He and 22-year-old American Tyler Gerard were arrested soon after the murder. Bagnato was detained in a hotel in Phnom Penh while Gerard was arrested as he attempted to cross the Thai border into Cambodia.

Saudi Tourist becomes victim of knife attack from his own friend

At around 5:30am on February 24th, Pattaya police and emergency services were called to Mayview Condotel in South Pattaya after a vicious knife attack involving 2 Saudi tourists.

Arriving at the scene, police found a Mr. Alhazemt Salamah Obaidallahk, aged 41, with a nasty looking knife wound to his left arm. Blood was still pouring from the wound, so paramedics were quick to treat the man at the scene before taking him to a local hospital for further treatment.

His Thai girlfriend informed police that they had been drinking and socializing with friends in the room. The group consisted of 2 tourists from Saudi Arabia, and 3 Thai girls. Everything was fine until  Mr. Aljameeli Khslf Khalafk, aged 37, who was a friend of her boyfriends, started making moves on her too. Mr. Alhazemt didn’t respond well to the advancements of his friend and a fight broke out inside the condo, with a few kicks and punches thrown. The fight ended when Mr. Aljameeli made is way into the kitchen, picked up a knife and attacked his friend, causing a serious injury.

Police arrested the attacker, and took him down to the police station for further questioning, before deciding to make any charges or not.

As he spoke, lines of women stood behind him in revealing outfits enticing punters into bars with names like Taboo and G-Spot as well as Fahrenheit — a nightspot boasting “The Hottest Girls in Pattaya.”

“The ladyboys and women working there, they are not involved in the sex trade,” said Pattaya’s police chief Col. Apichai Kroppeth, echoing the kind of Thai police rhetoric commonly divorced from reality.

“They work as waitresses, sit and chat with customers, some dance in shows,” he said.

 

Bar fines, short times

For many residents of the city the latest moral outrage fits a familiar pattern: negative overseas headlines prompt authorities to launch high-visibility — yet limited — crackdowns on an industry that pays the bills for everyone.

“You’re expecting the poachers to be the gamekeepers?” said one westerner who has made Pattaya his home, when asked if the latest clean-up will work.

The sex trade is a cash cow for the bar owners, girls, massage parlors, hotels, taxis, mafia and, many have long alleged, the cops charged with policing.

Thais call it “pon prayote,” says British journalist Andrew Drummond who reported on crime in Thailand for two decades.

“It means everyone benefits… it brings in massive amounts of money and simply couldn’t happen without police connivance.”

Apichai insisted there was “no bribery for sure” in his force.

Prostitution is illegal in conservative Thailand. Yet it remains ubiquitous for local and foreign customers alike.

Businesses use a well worn loophole to avoid prosecution, hiring sex workers inside the bars merely to entertain and talk to patrons.

A small “bar fine,” usually around THB500 (USD14), secures private “short time” away from the bar where any deal struck for sex is purely between the punter and prostitute.

While authorities have vowed to shutter the trade, there is little discussion on what happens to the sex workers — who often support large families with their earnings.

There are no exact numbers, but a 2014 UNAIDS report suggested some 140,000 females are employed by sex work across Thailand. Tens of thousands are thought to operate in Pattaya alone.

 

Par for the course

Tourism officials are optimistic for change, citing the increasing number of families coming to the town’s resorts and its popularity for sports, such as jet-skiing and golf.

“In terms of facilities I think we are already there,” said Suladda Sarutilavan, Pattaya’s director of tourism.

Last year some 12 million tourists — seventy percent foreigners — visited a city which now boasts over 100,000 rooms across 2,000 hotels, from cheap backpackers to swanky golf courses and family apartments.

While not everyone who comes is a sex tourist, she admits the city’s seedy image and crime headlines are a problem.

“It makes us feel a little bit uncomfortable,” she said.

Two recent killings have renewed the spotlight on the city’s reputation as a bolthole for foreign criminals.

In January, British businessman Tony Kenway was gunned down as he left the gym, a hit police linked to “boiler room” scams.

In 2015, an Australian former Hells Angel was kidnapped in broad daylight and murdered.

Foreigners who have made Pattaya home lament the killings, but say they fail to tell the wider picture of a largely safe, affordable city.

“Every night I went out in Coventry there was always one or two fights. I feel completely safe here,” said Briton Bryan Flowers, who moved to Pattaya a decade ago and now owns a dozen bars.

Others argue fancy hotels, malls and golf courses can flourish in step with the town’s party reputation.

“It’s why a lot of people come here,” Simon Peatfield, another Brit who owns restaurants and sports bars, said.

“There’s only so much golf you can play.”

There are some extremely good looking and very passable post op ladyboys working in female GoGo's , not very many I'd guess but there are some .

A few years ago I was in a GoGo in Soi LK with a ladyboy friend of mine and she introduced me to a friend of hers who was post op and working there passing herself off as a genetic girl , she was a stunner and I wouldn't have known which is quite a complement given the well trained eye of most of us around here .

Good looking GoGo girls seem to command big prices and most of the GoGo's are always busy in Walking Street anyway so it could well be possible the top earners could be getting that , but I'd guess the average girl wouldn't come near it .

A team of Pattaya police and army personnel have raided Rioja, a popular gentleman’s club in South Pattaya, to find illegal oral sexual activity taking place.
