Here's a video of wastewater, a nice euphemism for a cocktail of 1 part feces and 2 parts water, being dumped dumped into Na Jomtien Bay, the southern part of Jomtien that the baht busses don't service.  Anyone for some wastewater rafting?

An Italian who allegedly posed as Hollywood superstar George Clooney to sell clothes online has been arrested with his wife in Thailand after years on the run.

Francesco Galdelli, 58, and Vanya Goffi, 45, were arrested in the Thai resort of Pattaya, after policemen surrounded the luxury villa where they lived, far from the city’s tourist attractions and nightlife.

The pair specialized in a series of scams and frauds and had fled Italy in 2012 to avoid being arrested, earning themselves the nickname of Italy’s Bonnie & Clyde, the notorious American bank robbers of the Great Depression era.

"During interrogation, Francesco confessed to claiming to be George Clooney and opening a clothes business to trick people into sending money," a statement from Thailand's Crime Suppression Division said.

The couple is also wanted in Italy for multiple scams including selling fake Rolex watches online, the statement said. They sometimes mocked their victims by sending packets of salt instead of the timepieces.

Italy’s international police and the Crime Suppression Division of the Royal Thai Police finally succeeded in arresting the two on Sunday, after tailing them.

The case against the pair stretches back several years after Mr Clooney told a Milan court that the pair - and another accomplice - had fraudulently used his name to promote a fashion range.

The couple used several figureheads in Pattaya and, thanks to their past fraudulent activities, enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle. Mr Galdelli was also known by the local community for being a generous man, having donated big sums of money to help children with HIV.

He could be seen as a sort of Robin Hood,” said Andrea Vitalone, the security expert that led the international operation ended with the arrest.

Mr Galdelli had already been arrested in July 2014 at Pattaya’s Dusit Thani Hotel. The day after his arrest, however, he managed to escape at the end of his first hearing.

After an internal investigation, local police found out that he had corrupted the prison guards paying them 20,000 Thai baht (around £500) to cover up his absconding.

The couple are now being detained at the detention center of the Immigration Bureau in Pattaya, waiting for the extradition procedures to be started, police said.

And many of us consider Jomtien the cleaner swimming option. :(

Army veteran killed by single punch in Thailand

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-50249633

An Army veteran was killed after a single punch by a security guard in Thailand, an inquest has heard.

Mike Jones-Matthias, 55, was on a work trip when he was hit outside the Mandarin Agogo bar in Pattaya after being accused of not paying his bill.

It was shown CCTV footage of him leaving the bar in May last year and walking onto the main street outside, followed by two Thai men.

The footage showed him throwing a punch to the air before being hit to the floor in a single strike.

Phumphat Tanosingh was cleared of grievous bodily harm in a trial in Thailand.

The inquest in Pontypridd heard Mr Jones-Mathias died ten months later of pneumonia and traumatic brain injury.

Apparently this happened in may 2019, but he died now. No less tragic.

JAILBREAK

Three prisoners, including an American citizen, have escaped from the Pattaya Courthouse and are now, as of Tuesday morning, on the loose. A police officer was stabbed in the melee.

Pattaya police learned of the incident at 3:30pm at a holding cell at the Pattaya City Provincial Court.

Police and emergency responders arrived to find a police captain injured from a stab wound. He was rushed to a local hospital.

A court security guard says the prisoners had been in a holding cell. He says he heard the sound of fighting followed up by a gunshot. One of prisoners had fired at officers. It’s unclear how the weapon found its way into the court precinct.

The three prisoners, still in chains, commandeered a bronze Izuzu pickup truck waiting in front of the court, and sped away with an unknown accomplice .

The three prisoners are a Thai man, ‘Noi Ton Nintet’ who’s charged with illegal possession of methamphetamine and ecstasy pills, and “ice,” (crystal methamphetamine). Reports say he attacked police and opened fire in front of the courthouse.

The other two are an American man, 39 year old Bart Allen Helmus, and his Thai wife Sirinapa Wisetrit, who are charged with illegal possession of drugs and a gun. All three are considered extremely dangerous and police have set up roadblocks and patrols to catch them.

The above fugitives are on the run.  It's suspected that they're headed for the Cambodian border.  Don't think they will be filing a TM30.

Below captured live on CCTV:

There is a 50.000 baht reward for info leading to the capture of the men.

Wow, they value the capture of these two fugitives 15,000 Baht less than one single law-abiding foreigner is required to financially prove as income per month in order to remain within the Kingdom as a retiree.

Bart Allen Helmus, 39, and his Thai wife Sirinapha Wisetrit, 41, were surrounded by police near the Cambodian border today and taken to hospital in a police truck.

Helmus was found unresponsive but alive with a head wound from a handgun, while his wife was also injured but conscious.

A third prisoner who escaped with them, Noi Ton Nintet, 41, was captured in a nearby field in his underpants.
