A Doorman working for a Nightclub located in Soi 16 off Walking Street, surrendered himself to Police on Friday following an incident which occurred on 25th December at the front of the venue where the doorman is alleged to have pushed a Police Officer away and at the same time used offensive language directed at the officer.

The incident occurred in the early hours of 25th December at the Angkor Club where Police received reports of a major disturbance involving foreign nationals. Officers, some dressed in the orange shirts and brown shorts and others wearing standard Police Uniforms rushed to the scene.

Police Captain Yongyut was about to enter the venue to investigate the alleged disturbance when he was prevented from doing so by one of the Doormen, Khun Witune aged 40. He later claimed that he had only worked at the venue for 15 days and was not aware that the Police Captain was an officer as he was not wearing the standard uniform.

Khun Witune thought he was the boyfriend or Husband of one of the Thai females thought to be involved in the situation and allowing him entry may inflame the already volatile situation.

Eventually the situation was contained and Police made a number of arrests, unrelated to the incident. Seven of the staff at the Nightclub were found to be Cambodian Nationals and could not produce passports or work permits.

On Friday at a press conference led by Police Colonel Supatee, the Pattaya Police Chief, the Doorman apologized for his actions but Police have charged him with interfering with the duty of a Royal Thai Police Officer and for now the suspect has been released on a 30,000 Baht Bail pending a Court appearance.

Believe it or not this is a section of the beach between Pattaya Klang and Soi 6. (Patong eat your heart out)    There definitely appears to be a clear up going on, we even spotted guys in green fatigues with a measuring tape opposite Royal Garden measuring a patch of ground and pissing off some of the beach vendors.

Pattaya Transgender Faces Jail Term for 'Kicking a Cat'

CHONBURI — A transgender woman is facing prosecution under Thailand's newly-passed animal protection law for allegedly kicking a cat in the resort town of Pattaya this morning.

A married couple filed a complaint to Mueang Pattaya Police Station at around 5 am today, accusing the 35-year-old suspect of abusing their cat without any provocation.

According to the man, the transgender woman drunkenly approached his female cat and then kicked her, leading to a heated argument between him and the suspect.

"She threatened to call her friends to assault me and my wife," the man said. "So I told her I would press charges against her for animal cruelty."

The Animal Welfare Act was passed by the junta-appointed National Legislative Assembly (NLA) last November. It is the first piece of legislation in Thailand to criminalize animal cruelty.

The suspect was arrested at her apartment by police today and charged with violating the new law. She now faces up to two years in prison and 40,000 fine if found guilty by the court.

Funny, I was on skype with Miss Sindy a few nights ago, as she was sitting in her room talking away, she casually announced "Oh look, have rat in my room". Didn't phase her one bit. Not sure if this is a general Thai thing, or maybe just her not being too worried about the odd vermin infested rodent in her room (no witty retorts please, you bunch of rascals). Personally, if I had a rat in my room, I would evacuate until said beast had been extinguished and the entire place fumigated, that's if I ever returned!!! Yikes.

Could be worse.....In Hawaii around the turn they a real rat problem...Someone came up with the brilliant idea to introduce the mongoose into the environment to solve the rate infestation...That someone wasn't any too bright and they didn't have Google in those days...If they  had they would have quickly discovered that rats sleep the day away and run around at night and mongoose sleeps all night and are up all day...So the mongoose and the rat never met........But the mongoose, being an adaptive sort of beast, did not want for food and proceeded to wipe out nearly every indigenous species in Hawaii...So now they have a rat and a mongoose problem...

Sometimes the best laid schemes o' rats mongoose mice and men....................

When I lived in California there were some rat problems...But we always had cats...Now cat's like to watch late movies on the tele.....so we never had a rat problem but I know plenty of catless neighbors and catless others who did and still do...Mostly roof rats who like to eat fruit...Little fag fuckers....

I have had a couple mice try to take up residence here in the desert...but they are easy to kill...In fact I just killed one a couple weeks back...It's the rattlesnakes and the scorpions that are a bit more worrisome...We do have lots of roadrunners though that like to eat snakes and scorpions...

It's always a trade off of sorts.........

In Pattaya I would be more concerned with the Russians...Rumor has it that they will try to annex Pattaya before long....Now what kinda critter will eat a Ruskie...............

I have plenty of mice at my old farmhouse back home but no rats. They are easy to kill but I probably have plenty of dead ones stored up inside my walls <yuck>. I seldom see rats where I travel in Pattaya. I'm having some trouble recalling the last one I saw. They are everywhere in Phnon Penh. I was in a bar there one night and saw a rat run over the top of the music computer and down behind the bar. He was moving so fast I was the only sitting at the bar to see it. The guy sitting next to the computer terminal didn't see a thing.

Lita Bar

I was there last night and didn't see any rats. Although Nancy isn't much larger than one. I've been making some weird (for me) LB choices this week.

Cambodia actually has an extremely innovative rat killing program.

I was sitting on a bench at the river promenade light one night and there was a Khmer guy with a miner's helmey with a light on front looking into the bushes.  Within seconds he killed a rat with a spearfishing type of instrument.

But there's still rats everywhere.  The uncollected garbage sure doesn't help.

Pattaya Police are currently searching for a Middle-Eastern man, woman and child, who are suspected of being involved in the theft of US Dollars from a Russian Tourist outside of a 24 hour convenience store in Naklua early on Wednesday Morning.

Mr. Rinat Safin aged 26 and his partner, made their way to Pattaya Police Station just before 3am on Wednesday to report the incident which occurred in Soi 23 off the Naklua Road.

Mr. Safin told Police that he was about to enter the store when he was approached by a Man, woman and child, who appeared to be of middle-eastern origin. The man asked if he could see some Russian Rubles as he was curious as to how the bank notes looked.

Mr. Safin produced some Rubles but the man asked if he could see the US Dollar Bills which were also inside his wallet.

At one point Mr. Safin handed over his wallet to the man who then returned the wallet before leaving with the woman and child. Mr. Safin entered the store but realized that US Dollars were missing from his wallet, when he came to pay for items at the counter. He ran outside but the middle-easterners were gone.

Mr. Safin claimed that he lost 1,700 US Dollars which was detailed on a Police Report which will be used for an insurance claim when Mr. Safin returns to Russia. For now Police are examining security cameras in the area as they attempt to track-down the suspected thief.

Bad luck for the bar that it happened when they were supposed to be closed.

Bars got a police letter to close at midnight.  Walking around town, while bars did not close at the stroke of midnight, many seemed to be closing around 1AM.

I suspect today will be extremely dry with very few exceptions.

I haven't been out around Buakhao yet today but suspect I could find a beer if I really wanted one. Usually around 9 or 10 pm a few places try to quietly open up. It's funny to see the places that try and push that a bit earlier by serving booze in tea cups. There will be a row of bars with no customers and then you see one bar that is packed with customers all drinking from tea cups. A sure place to get a drink although I've seen a number of those places get busted because it's so obvious.
