Jimmy's Music Lists..

Recommended Posts

I hope others can contribute (song suggestions by PM if not within the thread?) .. duke got his going on a New Romantic theme. I'm similarly aged (old fart B)) and remember the period well..

One of my favourites was fairly obscure and I think a one hit wonder. Always liked it because the singer sounds like an obsessed jilted ex lover who can't get over his dumb ass getting dumped - all because he was probably a grade A jerk! 55.

anyone can post either the link or simply the song title. ensure to give the full title from you tube though... as Duke did.

will help emmy ensure she gets the correct version because as you know on YT the vids can be live versions etc etc.

definitely what you see will be what you get... maybe!

no frank ifield yet Jimmy? 5555

don't you worry Woodie..i guess people like jimmy and Duke are making their playlists for their own pleasure when they are in Katty... that's my idea of how it should be anyway.

anyone who just wants to add a  few songs [or even one] can just post in the katty bar music downloads tab... THE START sub thread. this will eventually become the main music for the katty Bar. I've started it off with a bit of led zepp.

anyone else who would like to make a specific playlist as Duke and Jimmy are ...let me know.

Not you though Quietguy! it's a bar not a funeral parlour...

Yes it is BBG, and that's why the Scooters Bars (especially the one on Buakhao) are my favourite bars in Pattaya and they get a lot of my custom when I am in town, I just love the music videos they play. B)

Karl used to play my favourite tunes (from a playlist he made up on his phone) when I entered the Famous Bar, it kept me there for longer and I made more visits.

If Emmy or someone else can add my playlists for Katty Bar then I would be very grateful, if it makes me make a few more visits to Katty Bar (on my 28 night trip in June), then it will have served it purpose, and would be of course be more beneficial to Emmy money wise (and I have no doubt Teya too ).

yes Duke, i'm popping down tonight to see emmy and show her where your playlist can be found on here. she wants to get on with it too. one of my biggest complaints to her for  a while as been the lack of decent music... Not hers or the staff's fault really. being thai they don't have a clue about western stuff...except for Hotel California and Zombie......

there is a general mixture of stuff playlist already available in Katty called ' Liverpool' [i don't know why]...  about 60 songs ranging from everyone to everyone but no obscure stuff. i just ran through Youtube one day and downloaded about 60 songs. bog standard stuff...deep purple, doors,  temptations, sam and dave going through to Keane...green day etc.

damn i  forgot new romantics!..........

I should apologise or at least explain the obscure stuff - many of us (incl. duke and bbg I'm sure) have been listening to music all our lives and have heard certain songs a million times (I know I have). It follows that we don't want to hear Stairway to Heaven or Candle in the Wind again ...ever!!! 555. Once you've heard new music a couple of times if it's good you don't think of it as "obscure" anymore ... you just think to yourself that's bloody brilliant. I like mainstream, I like indie, and music from the fifties right up until about 10 years ago (I struggle to find anything really contemporary that excites me) ... and I like the history of music too, which is why I'm likely to bang on about the background to songs, and where they fit into the culture. (My thread --- suck it up :yahoo:!)

Received wisdom is that America was in the music doldrums before the Beatles arrived. Not true of course (wit early Dylan) .. and like John Lennon often said, the best music is often the most primitive... this was a #1 in the States just before the Beatles arrived, and IMO knocks the pants off I Want to Hold Your Man (sic). And it doesn't get more primitive --- add it to the playlist!!

I was just reading a website that said Louie Louie didn't make it to number 1; maybe true, maybe not?  Can anyone guess what song the article said kept Louie Louie from being number 1 (doubt if it will be on anyone's playlist)?

Quote

Several possible versions of the song’s lyrics, included with the F.B.I.’s report, do make for a rather startling read. In the second verse, for instance, Ely might sing, “At night at ten / I lay her again / Fuck you girl, oh / All the way.” Or perhaps his words are more onanistic: “Every night and day / I play with my thing / Fuck your girl / All kinds of ways.” The F.B.I. investigation dragged on through 1965, with each laboratory examination of the record deemed inconclusive: no one could determine what Ely was singing, so the record couldn’t be declared obscene. Ben F. Waple, the secretary of the Federal Communications Commission (F.C.C.), wrote to Wand Records, which was responsible for the October, 1963, pressing of the record, to ask “whether, even though unobjectionable lyrics were used in recording the song, there was improper motivation on the part of the singers … in making the recorded lyrics so unintelligible as to give rise to reports that they were obscene.”

and some other personal faves -

Trying to pick those with good audio as well the visual... (If you think these are too obscure, frankly you need to get out more 55) -

Alright this is a bit obscure (and weird!) .. great US indie band the Pixies. (Bowie loved them). Always want a lb and me to listen to this and scream in each other's faces "Wanna grow up...grow up to be...a debaser!!!!!" 555

Still on a US Indie theme...

Down under we were following the US and UK trends closely. This was our classic garage rock (our Louie Louie) -

Thirty years ago I was schlepping around the north of England. Saturday nights at the only disco in town which played pretty awful music (same any nightclub in the world so that's not a dis) ... except when they played a total gem like this one -

Along the same lines. I was surprised to see that Queen did not have that many #1's. I consider them to be one of the best. They could perform live as well as they did in the studio. Very few could do that!.

I think they became more popular after Freddies death. Certainly in the US. They were not known there until that stupid teen movie (can't think of the name, but had the car with hair all over it), used Bohemian as background music.

Oceania!. Deep South.

I thought that Queen were pretty popular in my country when Freddie was alive tbh hence my question, but I do get your point regards their UK record chart listings Woodie.

They blitzed the rest of the Acts on both sides on the pond at the Live Aid extravaganza imho, and for me Freddie was the best frontman and showman there has ever been, he had the audience wrapped around his little finger :good:

Without a doubt. No one came near them in their day, or since.

No takers?  OK, every country has different Billboard charts but in the USA Louie Louie didn't make it to number 1 because of

This is not meant for a playlist unless it's the soundtrack that inspires Teya to dress up as a nun and ends up on the pool table or with her cock in me mouth!

Think that question about 'Louie Louie' I 'm sure I once heard in a quiz. Oddly enough in The Katty last night and up popped a video on Emmy's Klunky Music Machine and it was The Kingsmen doing that number. The rest of that compilation was a mixed bag including lots of the 'Madchester Scene' of which I'm only vaguely aware. Back to 'Louie Louie' - can't remember the original but I did read up about it a few years ago after John Prine gave it a namecheck in his splendid long rambling song 'Lake Marie'. 'Louie Louie' at one time was the most 'covered' song ever till I think it was usurped by the terrible maudlin song 'Yesterday'.

Anyway good excuse to play John Prine. Saw him live once superb Bought his first album way back in early 70's. Some tosser called him the new Bob Dylan which I reckon set his career back a few years - as it did a few artistes who got stuck with that.

very unusual John Prine song that one Quinn. Not his typical stuff.

just going back to The Kingsmen...Jimmy Cargo... isn't the lead singer a young Annat? he's kept that quiet.

Duke..Emmy is already hard at work on your playlist.

Pdoggg...sorry but the Singing Nun may be my first ever Hoovering! Not cause it's shite... just to save  teya the agony..........

Where the hell do you guys get these songs from. Most obscure you could ever find.

I agree totally. Have never heard of the band or song posted by the OP although I am old enough. I looked up Fischer-Z and they had albums that charted in the UK, a few other EU countries and none where I live. I also have never heard a lot of Dukes songs. Although I recognize band names and song titles from songs I don't know so I guess that means they are at least somewhat famous. I don't care for about half the music they play in Scooters (which I haven't visited this trip in 3.5 months). But I suppose any of these will be better than the techno crap lots of places play unless they are "top 40 pop crap®". Sorry to be so picky but needless to say I'm not a big fan of "BIG" obscure playlists featuring others nostalgia. I think the Katty regular that has supplied the bar with a playlist has done a pretty good job.

Flame suit on, fire away.

nobody gonna fire away xyzzy !

i've been a music fan all my life and i've not heard a lot of Dukes stuff.  i sort of lost touch with the 'new romantic' era.. think jimmy and i get on with the same sort though.

early days yet.

remember Duke and Jimmy's playlist's are for when they are in the bar...might be next month, might be next year. Playlists will still be there waiting for them.

just be thankful quietguy isn't making one.......

if you want obscure.... wait for me and Quinn to get going!

i've started a general playlist in the music downloads tab...'THE START'. anyone want to keep it going with good stuff...please do. general toe tapping stuff to enjoy with a beer

jimmy , Duke, nothing to stop you 2 making your specialised list for yourself and adding to my general list too. stones? oasis? whatever.. obviously the general list will get more airplay in the bar, which is what i want to provide for emmy to use . as xyzzy said..lets get rid of the techno crap etc. Emmy is really happy to play what we like to hear... but obviously she nor teya have any real idea. We have to help them.

OK, here's another post that is a prime candidate for hoovering.

I get that Katty Bar is a customer friendly joint and guys really like hearing their favorite music.  But perhaps some thought should be put into what music makes the Katty Kittens want to take off their clothes?   Now ideally the girls would take off their clothes during your playlist and a little booze probably goes a long way in that regard.  But perhaps the girls should be asked not "what music do you like" but rather "what music makes you want to take your clothes off and get naked on the pool table"?  If there are certain songs that make the girls perk up and get a rock hard woody just listening to it that would be good to know!

Here's one favorite of the last generation of ladyboys. The new generation has probably moved on; to what I don't know.

Agree with PD above that it would be good to choose music that might appeal to the girls as well... I just can't think of any at the moment. Especially if the mission is to get them to peel off their kit, drop their knickers and spread 'em .

One more for the playlist, and ok this is just a private joke between bbg and me - although I can hear myself serenading Sunny with it ...as she sobs uncontrollably ...then puts me in a headlock (serves me right for being a twat 555) -

Guy's can i ask a favour?

i went to katty last night and Emmy played Jimmy's playlist as it stands so far.

i must admit that she took me by surprise, i didn't realise that she would work that quickly. i was planning on 'cleaning' this a bit before notifying her to go ahead.

the problem is that obviously she doesn't have a clue... much as  i wouldn't with thai music...she is simply adding whatever vids are put on this thread to jimmy's playlist as they are added.

thankfully she picked up that the singing nun shouldn't go on the playlist ! but anything else that has been downloaded here  probably will...do you really want 'two little boys' Jimmy?......

please Guys.. posts in this thread are not a problem..comments etc... but please no video downloads other than from Jimmy. Same on Dukes thread please... only Duke..

anyone with any other general stuff they want to add...stick it in 'the start'.

 once jimmy' and dukes playlists are completed [let me know guys..]. we'll do a all in-post anything youtube music thread if anyone wants. not specifically for making into a playlist
