Someone mentioned having a temperature gun. Reminded me of a moron I know from NA meetings, he was on a Zoom Meeting (lives in Dubai now) and he said at the Dubai Airport they have handheld COVID testers. The point them at your forehead and it can analyze whether you have COVID. I told him those were simply temperature guns, looking for elevated temps and he started to argue with me. I shut up, there's no point arguing with Stupid. You can't win.

Actually I don't go anywhere.

You might need to worry though.

I'm sure you go somewhere.

I think I had a cocktail of different jabs , measles, smallpox , polio, TBC etc.  as an infant which supposedly last you the whole life. But who knows, you can't be sure they still protect you, right?

Not really. Only for shopping, though most of that is done online now. Occasionally to the local park.

Nowhere else I want to go to these days. Though I live in London I've seen most of the sights.

I did go to a local cinema to see the Northman (Vikings) a couple of weeks ago, but that was the first time for about five years.

Its funny how some of us "goblins/ cheap charlies" get a bad name but we really know how to prioritize what we want to do and save for that.

Really obvious if you want to save up for a Patek Phillipe .. we can't be buying Tudors and Rolexs every week.

And once we get there.. P A R T Y? Cuz I got to! :biggrin::party0011::party0005:

Was the trip worth it ? Watched the movie last week - absolutely tedious ! The antics and dialogue in the first hour (seemed like a day) were straight outa Monty Python. Just sayin'.

I thought it was ok, I like the 'swords and sandals' genre. The two hours went quickly.  I don't go to cinema very often, I usually wait for the bluray to come out and buy a second hand copy on ebay.

But it was a dark dismal drizzly day so it seemed worth £6.99 to go to see the film in the afternoon.

During this entire ongoing pandemic getting useful and thoughtful information has been as much a challenge as dodging the virus.  In the US, individuals who should have been definitive voices by virtue of the positions they hold have either been wishy-washy or polarizing (e.g., Anthony Fauci at the NIH and Rochelle Wallensky at the CDC).  Add to them each major news outlet having their pet expert, usually with a political orientation aligned with that of the respective new outlet, and you only have further confusion.

Two individuals who I've come to follow during this time have been Eric Topol at the Scripps Institute and Peter Hotez at Baylor College of Medicine.  Unlike most other talking head "experts", Drs. Topol and Hotez are active and internationally respected researchers, not just administrators.  They are also excellent in communicating complex issues in medicine and research.  Way too many articles, opinion pieces, etc. to post links to, but both are very active on Twitter and other outlets.  Seriously, just google either of them and follow the links to their most recent observations.  And, they each post several tweets with links every day.

At the moment, both are of the mindset that we are now in a lull before the next big storm in the form of ever more quickly mutating Omicron variants that are ever more transmissible, and for which the current first generation covid vaccines are less effective.  Oh, and let's not forget animal reservoirs of the covid virus.  Yikes!  The only thing more scary is an excessively hairy ladyboy butt crack!

i don't know about smallpox and polio jabs to be honest, no memory of jabs, but sometimes now no memory of yesterday either. Guess i must have had them.

But Measles, Chicken Pox and Mumps, do recall catching them all as a child.  No big problem...2 weeks off school for each or whatever. Great!

Now, strangely enough. Quinn and i were having one of our intellectual discussions recently, which usually last about one minute and take the form of 'she's got nice tits' or suchlike.

But a subject that was mentioned was masks.

And the fact that one of the Booster Bros recently over here in Thailand, spent the first weeks of his time here fully masked, and a few days before flying home caught a heavy cold. If masks are so good... How?

and, is it not a long term mistake to deny kids, who have a far stronger immunity system than adults, the chance to build up immunity to flu bugs?

kids here are covered in masks 24/7.

Mind you, this is Thailand, anytime soon we'll we seeing the dogs and cats wearing old woolly jumpers to protect them from the vicious cold here.

Be careful folks and Pards... Monkey Pox is coming to get ya's...

Talking of which... QG, i know that you and your hoss are shall i say...close friends? beware of monkey pox mutating into hoss pox.....

Yes, thats probably what I'm referring to. I honestly have no idea, but I remember my mom told me this a very long time ago.

They're not good for preventing any virus, at least thats been established. Maybe they have a psychlogical effect like  'stay away from me, don't forget the pandemic'.

New Swedish movie just screened at the film festival in Cannes. His previous movies have been great. This clip is fucking brilliant.

Vomit, Poop and Woody Harrelson: ‘Triangle of Sadness’ Shocks Cannes With Uproarious Eight-Minute Standing

Cannes attendees waiting for David Cronenberg’s “Crimes of the Future” to give the festival a stomach-churning shock got an electrifying surprise with the world premiere of Ruben Östlund’s latest social satire, “Triangle of Sadness.” The movie earned an uproarious eight-minute standing ovation after a lively screening that found the audience at Cannes’ Palais theater shrieking in horror and delight.

“Triangle of Sadness” stars “Beach Rats” and “The Kingsman” actor Harris Dickinson as an aspiring model who gets the chance to vacation aboard a luxury yacht after his influencer girlfriend wins them a free trip. Woody Harrelson plays the yacht’s alcoholic captain. The yacht is full of pretentious and snobby guests who make up the 1%, but they all get their comeuppance courtesy of an extended 15-minute sequence in which a storm leads to an outbreak of seasickness, vomiting and diarrhea in graphic details .

“Triangle of Sadness” moves into another gear in its second act, when they take a trip on a luxury yacht captained by a drunk socialist (Harrelson). The boat's uber rich tourists include weapons makers and a Russian fertilizer magnate played by Zlatko Burić.

“Triangle of Sadness” reaches a comic crescendo when the seas turn rough, and an elaborate dinner ends up a farce of vomiting — and worse — while the captain and oligarch debate politics.
