JustSumGai
y'all might make fun of Alabama but total cases in my county so far is 26,000 but deaths have skyrocketed (not)doubling to 508 since it all began. Around half million in my county. our graph line is pretty dang flat. And hey, being in Bama, I am used to boredom :) plus I'm a hermit with no family gatherings to go to and get the "gift" from family. I do wonder if this shitstorm will go back to the fairly normal and "easy" travel regs. I suspect they will leave many of the tightened up ones on the books for some time.
seven
At least something: Sweden sees slowdown in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations https://www.yahoo.com/news/sweden-registers-9-779-covid-131636175.html STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Sweden has seen a decline in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations in recent weeks, the Health Agency said on Tuesday, though it warned it was too early to say if it represented a lasting slowdown. Sweden, whose unorthodox pandemic strategy has placed it in the global spotlight, registered 9,779 new coronavirus cases since Friday, health agency statistics showed. The figure compared with 17,395 cases the corresponding period last week. "It has started to come down in all age groups, although primarily among younger people," Chief Epidemiologist Anders Tegnell told a news conference. "We will see if it lasts." ___________________________________________ Pfizer is the only vaccine proven to have effect on the new UK strain so far. I think the nurse who gave me the jab did say, but I was too distracted to take much notice. I think he said it would probably be in 5-6 weeks, but not sure about that.

seven
Opps. Thank fuck I live in the EU and will be getting other options than the Oxford vaccine. PARIS — The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine should be prioritized for people younger than 65, according to recommendations by government advisory bodies in France and Sweden on Tuesday, while Poland set its threshold at 60. https://www.politico.eu/article/france-sweden-poland-recommend-prioritizing-astrazeneca-vaccine-for-people-younger-than-65/ "Currently available data for people aged 65 and over are limited by a small sample size and don't allow for a conclusion on the safety and the efficacy of the [AstraZeneca] vaccine for this population," the French national authority for health (HAS) said. "The [AstraZeneca] vaccine is therefore recommended preferentially for health professionals under 65 and people under 65." The three countries join Germany and Italy in issuing such recommendations, even though the EU’s regulator cleared the vaccine for all adults. “We will revisit our advice when we have further data,” said HAS President Dominique Le Guludec, adding this is expected in a few weeks. The HAS also opened the door for pharmacists and midwives to be allowed to vaccinate, given the easier storage requirements with temperature. Sweden’s public health agency also recommended against vaccinating people over 65 with the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab. And in Poland, the vaccine will only be used for people aged 18-60, said Michał Dworczyk, an aide to the prime minister. Last Thursday, Germany’s advisory vaccination commission was the first to recommend that the vaccine be given to people under 65, pushing the country to revisit its vaccination schedule to provide different age groups with appropriate vaccines. On Saturday, Italy proved even more cautious, recommending the use of the vaccine to people younger than 55. Controversy has marked the jab's roll-out, as the EU and the British-Swedish company feuded over contract terms and late deliveries.
bumblebee
This video is doing the rounds on TV here tonight. Apparently it’s a challenge dance to lift people’s spirits during theses dark times. Fair play to the local constabulary for accepting the challenge, we don’t often see them being light hearted.

seven
I don't know what would be the adequate punishment for capitalists like this one who think they are above others. He's facing jail time. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/27/rodney-baker-canada-vaccine-indigenous-first-nations-scandal Backlash grows for ‘selfish millionaire’ who got vaccine meant for Indigenous people Canadian casino executive Rodney Baker and his wife were initially fined C$2,300 for breaking public health rules A millionaire Canadian couple who traveled to a remote community to receive a coronavirus vaccine intended for vulnerable and elderly Indigenous people are facing growing calls for a tougher punishment after they were initially fined C$2,300 (US$1,800) for breaking public health rules. Casino executive Rodney Baker and his wife Ekaterina Baker, an actor, travelled by chartered plane to Beaver Creek, a community of 100 in Canada’s Yukon territory, where a mobile team was administering the Moderna vaccine to locals, including elderly members of the White River First Nation. Marc Miller, Canada’s federal Indigenous services minister, said he was “disgusted” by the Bakers’ behaviour. “I don’t know what went through those people’s minds. There is extreme scarcity of the doses and for some reason people tried to game the system. It’s unfair. It’s wrong,” he said.

JustSumGai
I just looked at Thailand stats for corona https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/world/coronavirus-maps.html can my figuring be right? I mean it took me 3 times to pass Algebra I (second don't really count as we had a HOT HOT HOT lil college gal teacher that would wear mini skirts and go go boots on occasion...that year 17 out of 24 failed the class, I'm betting mostly guys and the odd lesbian) but .02 per 100,000 new cases? is that really like 100 cases in Bkk per day OF which 5 MIGHT die? and over this they are determined to destroy the economy? I mean that would indicate moronic, idiotic stupidity of a magnitude of ten times the temperature of the sun. This whole thing has just GOT to be about more than just controlling some pandemic (which ALL the world's experts KNEW was GOING TO HAPPEN at some point, sooner rather than later). I'd love to see how this is viewed in history some years from now (probably after I'm long dead).

It certainly kept our attention hoping to get a glimpse of her thighs above the stocking tops, or better still her panties. I don't think any of the boys passed their history exam. It was the only subject I failed. I don't even remember now what period of history we were supposed to be studying but I still remember she usually wore white panties! 2
