I’m not sure if it’s being shown in LOS as I’m in the UK

Yeah, Sly has done very, very well.  I think it is common knowledge he started in porn.  Then went off to write Rocky, the original.  But, I doubt he actually just created.  Actually he plagiarized I think he put his own touches on the movie, Somebody Up There Likes Me is a 1956 American drama film directed by Robert Wise and starring Paul Newman and Pier Angeli, based on the life of middleweight boxing legend Rocky Graziano.  Very similar script and actual direct coping of the movie.  But, regardless he became successful beyond his dreams.  If you want to watch a rather unsong movie staring him, that was pretty good, watch:

Paradise Alley
Paradise Alley is a 1978 American sports drama film written, directed by and starring Sylvester Stallone, in his feature film directorial debut. The film tells the story of three brothers in Hell's Kitchen, New York City in the 1940s who become involved in professional wrestling.

What an excellent film that was.  I remember watching it when I was a young lad. I was always a fan of Paul Newman. I’ve seen the film a few times now.

Yeah, Paul Newman, was like the best of the best...........so many movies and he just carried the move.  Check our Road to Perdition....he didnt play a large part but still  great movie.  If you rewatch Someone up there likes me.......you will see rocky stole some of the scenes........but thats ok......cause rocky was a good movie.

I remember going to watch Road to Perdition at the cinema when it came out. Newman played the big boss with Daniel Craig (not yet James Bond) as his fucked up son and was surprised how good Tom Hanks was as a gangster. As he always played the happy go lucky roles back then.

My exact thoughts.  He demonstrated extreme range as an actor, that was totally uncharacteristic at that time.  But, we should not really have been surprised, since playing Forest took extraordinary range. I don't know of another actor, that could have pulled off playing Forest.  Hanks, is in a league of his own, and towers over all but a few and as you stated, who would have thought it, from Bosoms Buddies.

Yup. Same plastic surgeon as Mickey Rourke.

For sure, and I am surprised the surgeon wasn't stripped of his license to practice.  Mickey had a hard life, and it cost him in the end.  He never shook the demons and he through it all away.  He was a most sought after actor, and he trashed it.  Went into boxing and got his face bashed in so much, not sure but might have lost his license to box.  Anyhow, he is ok in my book.
