Thought I'd start a thread about movies and tv BMs are watching and recommend.

I'll start off with a hard-science fiction series I just finished watching. It's an Amazon Prime original.

The Expanse (IMDb 8.5)

"A police detective in the asteroid belt, the first officer of an interplanetary ice freighter, and an earth-bound United Nations executive slowly discover a vast conspiracy that threatens the Earth's rebellious colony on the asteroid belt."

There are four seasons, and it is available on EZTV. I haven't tried to download any episodes as I have a Prime membership.

I found it very enjoyable. The special effects are fantastic. The plot is interesting though a bit heavy on the action.

Looks like the kind of show I’d watch as I’m really into astronomy and what’s out there in space.  I tend not to watch much TV these days, I have subscribed to an amount of channels on YouTube and that does me for the most part, particularly when I’m travelling.

Right now I'm watching Mitch McConnell.  When I get a chance I'll watch the Irishman if it's on Netflix.

was watching The mentalist on Amazon got to series 3 before they suddenly started charging for it so back to Bones season 8 and Sleepy Hollows oh yes and downton abbey

I work 16 hours per day...so when it comes time to go home I need something light...watching queen of the south as previously followed la Reina del Sur in Spanish...found deadbeat funny...but I love curb your enthusiasm ( only in English as it is not even on Italian TV ) I wait for season 10

I found The Expanse in it's first season. I'm a SyFy junkies so really enjoyed it. It gets some mentions in the top 50 lists of best shows of the decade. Those lists are where I find some of my video. 

The Irishman is OK but really long and it's no Godfather. Worth the watch but you may end up wishing it was shorter.

If you haven't already seen it and looking for something a bit lighter Californication is a good choice. It is just a 30 minutes show so one can burn though episodes pretty fast. 

SyFy junkies will probably like 12 Monkeys (the TV show).

Killing Eve is entertaining. Only two short seasons with season one being a bit better.

Of the new stuff this season Prodigal Son is my favorite. But it's in a mid season break and there are only 10 episodes so far.

I agree about the Irishman; it's no Godfather. Well worth watching however. It tells the story of Jimmy Hoffa, including how he most likely died.

I’ll check out 12 Monkeys and Prodigal Son.

SyFy channel shows used to be a joke as far as production values but have improved greatly in quality. If you are willing to go back to the era when the quality wasn't as good Defiance might be worth a try.

Falling Skies is another good SyFy from a few years ago with some cheesy animation especially in the earlier seasons.

tonight I went thru the last of about 17 Charlie Chan movies I torrented.  Did not know Warner Oland was Swedish. Got about 20 OLD john wayne westerns but probably won't get to em, as that's before he had THE style (pre john ford).  I just downloaded it for Seven Sinners with Marlena Dietrich, Broderick Crawford was great as her oafish puppy dog protector.  Hmm, as to "new" (hey, I'm old, I hate new).  Enjoyed the series Dead Like Me (Patinkin is droll and fun) and Reaper was good but didn't keep either.  Mostly lately I've been filling holes in my 30s-40s stuff. Wow, LOTS of torrents for the Expanse, bodes well...always fun to find something good that I ain't seen. thanks for the tip :)

Excellent news for Star Trek fans (geeks). A new series will be starting on CBS All Access in a few weeks: Star Trek: Picard. CBS has already committed to a second season. Yippie! Actors and characters from all of the different series will appear.

Which reminds me if your haven't watched Star Trek Discovery (two seasons/29 episodes with a third season coming) also on CBS ALL Access it's some decent Science Fiction. It stars Sonequa Martin-Green who is well known to The Walking Dead fans.

Looking at this I realised as internet access improved over the years the less I am familiar with those shows.  I have heard of some but never watched most of them.  Unlike the late 90s for example when I loved the X Files and regularly tuned in, along with Friends.

Watched all 8 episodes early July.  Is available here in Australia for free on SBS on demand until Mar 2023 for those here and those that have VPN.

I couldn't stop at the episode 1 got straight into episode 2 and must say I'm hooked   it's fast paced with a great story line unfolding into lots of levels and characters . Homeland you referred to is one of my top viewing shows, loved the ending with Carrie in Russia reactivating the message in the spine of a book for Saul .

Loved that part too. So sophisticated.  I had a feeling she wasn't gonna do him in. Was a great series.  Season 1-3 was the best one Brody was around., imo.

Tel, see if can find this one. There are five seasons. One of my top 5 shows ever.

I am currently watching The Bureau and up to season 4 episode 8.

All 5 seasons currently on SBS on Demand in Australia for those here and with a VPN but season 4 is only available to 27th November 2020 all other seasons available for at least a further year.

It is extremely well produced and acted and storylines keep you engrossed. For seasons 3 and 4 I am watching 2 episodes a night as it is that good. I don't know what I'll do after next week when I have finished season 5.

It was produced by Canal+ the same company that had a hand in producing Zero Zero Zero.

I also liked "Spiral" which again was produced by Canal +, they really do have a hand in some fantastic productions.

Just downloading 4.3 GB now of Season 1 with English hard coated subtitles downloading at 9 MiB/s so wont take long at all.
