The good news is that we both have more money than AOC!

It's not an easy for a Middle Class guy to have more money than a Congress member.  I guess you could pay Congress less but I'm not sure it's a good idea if only the rich can afford serve in Congress or depend on a soft landing as a lobbyist like Joe Crowley..  Number one problem in the USA is how the corrupt political system does the bidding of the the top tenth of the 1%.

A right wing talking point is that Bernie is a hypocrite because he owns three homes, and maybe is part of the 1% yet advocates for 99%.

Every Congressperson person needs to maintain at least two residences, one in their district and one in DC.  You can't be homeless on the streets of DC.  Some might own their residences free and clear. Some might be mortgaged, some might be rented. Some lawmakers even have Congressional roommates. Don't know if they suck each other off or not.  Not sure why a modest vacation home is such a big deal as it is not all that uncommon for Americans to own a vacation home.

So if Bernie is a hypocrite for owning multiple relatively modest homes then wouldn't Trump also be a hypocrite for owning multiple opulent homes with gilded crappers but also claiming to be for the Middle Class?   By that logic, the only way Trump wouldn't be a hypocrite is if he was upfront about being for the billionaire class and told working people to go fuck themselves. Btw, I think claiming to be for the Ordinary Joe while simultaneously cutting taxes on billionaires while also advocating cuts to Social Security is both hypocritical and a big fuck you to working people.

Bottom line, life is short so I try to spend as much time possible debating politics on the internet!  8P   :help:

I wonder if that includes his wife who was involved in some shenanigians with loans at some podunk university up there in Vermont.

Here it is FWIW: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_O'Meara_Sanders#Burlington_College_presidency

Trump got the poor slobs of America to vote for him. So personal money doesn't really seem to matter sometimes.

The investigation was launched after complaints were filed with the FBI in 2016 by Brady Toensing, chair of the Vermont Republican Party and Vermont campaign manager for then-candidate Donald Trump.

Brady Toensing is the stepson of Fox News contributer Joe DeGenova.

Was Jane Sanders convicted?

No.

Was Jane Sanders indicted?

No.

Was Jane Sanders even charged?

No.

There was an investigation prompted by Trump campaign manager and she was not charged with anything.

Btw, it's not just Fox News and the alt-right who are attacking Bernie.

Think Progress, a "liberal" think tank founded by people closely allied with Clinton did a hit piece on Bernie attacking him for being a millionaire.

On CNN today some guy said that it was a big problem that Bernie is not releasing his tax returns "fast enough".  Apparently not good enough that he is planning to release 10 years of tax returns on April15th, two and half months before the first debate and 9 and half months before the first primary. At least the CNN guy didn't have a condescending smirk on his face like the Weekend Fox and Friends hosts who were discussing Bernie today.

it may not be "fake news" but all media is biased and since corporate interests own all the big media it kind of makes sense that big money corporate media wouldn't be thrilled with a candidate who wants to tax big moneyed interests more so that all Americans can have free health care as a human right.  It's easy for Rachel Maddow to support transgender rights because it isn't costing MSNBC a nickel to do that.  But making the rich pay their fair share of taxes?  Hmmm.  Think you'll ever see something good about Bernie in WaPo?

So if both the right and the Corporate Democrats are hitting Bernie this hard, this early, it means the people who run the USA are scarred shitless of him.

So how do they attack Bernie?  They can either attack his policies or attack him personally.

As far as attacking Bernie personally what can they say?  They can say that he has a net worth of about 2 million dollars. They can say he owns three homes.  They can say his honeymoon was in the Soviet Union suggesting he is a pinko commie faggot.   They can say he is the reason that Clinton lost.  They can say he is too old.  They can throw all sorts of shade.   Probably the most damaging thing they dug up is something he wrote 50 years ago about rape fantasies.  Lucky for him that in these days of MeToo that his main opponents right now are  touchy feely hair sniffing Uncle Joe and Grab Em By The Pussy Donald.  Another line of attack is that he was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam war but tough for BoneSpurs Donnie to play that card.  In the primaries they will say that he is not sensitive enough to identify politics however branding him as not being astrong advocate of identity politics should help him in the general election.

Policies.  Bernie welcomes attacks on his policies so that he can set the record straight.  I think the 99% will like the idea of more for the 99% and less for the 1%.

A favorite attack line is that his policies will make the USA like Venezuela.  Really?  Wouldn't it be much fairer to say that his policies would make the USA more like Western Europe?

Free stuff.  Well why shouldn't health care be free?  If it is free in or almost free in Western Europe (of course every country is a bit different) why can't it be free in the USA?

What it all boils down to is that the very powerful ruling elite don't want Bernie.

He will win with the People on the issues so the powers that be must come up with lots of half truths to try to convince the People that pro-People polices are actually bad for the People.  An example of that would be saying a 15 dollar minimum wage is bad for poor people because it will put them out of work.  Now I suppose a big increase in the minimum wage might put a few people on the margins out of work.  And employers would probably get tougher with employees by doing stuff such as monitoring bathroom breaks.  But raising the minimum wage is bad for people making the minimum wage? 555

Should be a fun campaign. I'm looking forward to it!:yahoo:

Bill Maher nailed it in the Capitalism Plus video. Lots of people on the left don't like Maher as he is not PC but he cuts through the BS and tells the truth in a very entertaining way.

At the beginning of his career, Maher used to be the MC at comedy clubs so I got to see him live in a very small venue a couple of times. Other guys I saw in those clubs were Joe Piscipo (pre SNL) who was really polished, Gilbert Gottfried who was honing an unusual act, and Richard Belzer who was really funny but never really made it very big as a comic.   One night Rodney was trying out some new material there but not as funny as some of the upstarts at that time.

Bernie had a Fox News Town Hall the other night.  The Fox moderators were tough but fair and Bernie wouldn't take any shit.  IMO Trump and Bernie are the only two candidates that People are really excited about.

Trump says things that white guys in bars in New Jersey, Ohio, and Alabama have been saying for years.  Those in red MAGA caps love that he actually says out loud these exact same things.

Bernie is saying different things. Things that the People knew to be true on a gut level but that few politicians would say because these politicians depend on their Donors.

Trump managed to do a hostile takeover of the Republican party.   His anti-PC rhetoric is so strong that his base is willing to overlook a tax bill where 83% or so of teh benefits went to the top 1%.

Bernie is attempting a hostile takeover of the Democrat party.  Powerful moneyed interests oppose him bitterly. I reckon they will support Uncle Joe if he enters the race. If not they will probably support Kamala Harris.   But I think Bernie has the People because the People know that Bernie has their back.

Here's the Town Hall in two parts, well worth watching if you are interested in American politics followed by a Bernie rally in Pittsburgh.
