bumblebee
I have noticed on my strolls around town, often times I am approached by Filipinos trying to strike up a conversation. A couple of times I have been sitting on a bench and they say "Ahh you are taking a rest" and then go on to ask me where am I from. Other times there will be some activity near by, aerobics, kick ball, and they'll ask me do you like/have that game in your country. I am presuming these are the card scammers, ie they say they have a daughter going to your country, can you come to our house/hotel etc to give her some advice, and then gradually a card game is introduced in which although you initially win, slowly things turn and you end up paying big time, even with the threat of violence. Here are a couple of links to illustrate what I am talking about. http://fisheggtree.blogspot.com/2010/06/saigon-filipino-card-scam-mafia-still.html http://www.nzembassy.com/philippines/new-zealanders-overseas/living-philippines/scams-philippines Be careful out there guys, these rats are all over SE Asia it seems.
