A not-so-brief history of Ladyboy Forums

No problem, Beijo.......the forum was actually a labor of love for 5 or 6 years and it was great that we could help out a lot of travelers in their search for Ladyboys in Thailand. I know that the 2 forums I read before I started my own really helped me a lot before I went over there, so it was our time to do a good turn for people who discovered LB's between 2001 and 2010.

As for the ladyboys; it's dead even with them. Yes, some of them became wildly popular and got a lot of customers after appearing on the website or on the forums, but without them working as models there would have been NO website! So I'd call that a draw.

*I may have another super-long story for you guys, similar to the extortion story from April. Same -same but actually nothing like that one:)

I think part of the reason the ATS website and forum took off so well WAS the customer service angle. It was unique for the time; you could not only view and chat about the models, but if we had their contact info we would be happy to share it with members. It was good for the girls and good for the site and its members, so win-win all around.

By 2003-2004 the models all started having e-mail addresses, or I would simply start a new Hotmail account for them which they could check at any internet cafe; and of course telephone numbers were always available for people who were coming to BKK or Pattaya. Within 3 or 4 years it was literally impossible to keep up with all those girls, but for a while the 'contact' feature worked pretty well.

Oaktoad/LavenderChaps was ahead of his time for sure. Not sure how he started the Yahoo group or how it became so popular, but by 2001 when I first found it and for 2 or 3 years after that he had about 100 good posters and even more lurkers. It was the main place I went to meet fellow mongers in the early days and to read about the comings and goings of BKK ladyboys.

Respectfully my friend, I think you may have your time line off a little. I found your site in spring of 2002 and of course the old site gadgets yellow forum. I am pretty sure I found QGirls in the months after that, and I think I was there slightly before you on QGirls, or at least your user name I knew you by, Tyurtsa or something like that. I can remember when you joined and you telling us how you came up with your user name. Pigdogg was there under the old Farangguy name, Paulo Daido who became a good friend later to both Pig and me, your old turncoat former friends Eddie/Teddy and Rod, a really smart guy in the scene who went by Lionracing, the Aussie cop stevendaniels...remember how he used to write his posts in one huge paragraph and didn't use the space bar between sentences? hehehe. He was passionate in his love and support of lbs though. Maybe he did it that way because of how he typed up police reports, who knows. Then of course LC himself posted a fair amount, and also my mercurial mysterious old friend Mr Lonely. That's how I recall it myself, of course I could be the one who is off on the time lines.

Thanks for that brief history, JaiDee.

I joined the ATS site way back 2006 and stuck with the forum through its various changes up until now.

It seems that, what is now Ladyboy Quest has lost mush of its life. It's pretty dead there.

The other day Dave Duke posted a link on that site for this site and that's how I found my way here. I recognize many posters on this site that used to post there, Deep throat, Kahuna, Pig dog, et al. There seems to be much more activity here.

Guess I'll be around here for a while. :hi:

I too like knowing the history behind the scene's and read all this with great interest. Thanks Jaidee.

Coming to Thailand for close on 23 years and chasing GG's only, has never been so much fun as the last 5 years of chasing LB's and enhanced soley by the forum's and the people I have now met through them. So all my thanks to the forum starter's and those that continue to run them now. :drinks:

Im the same as Strocube and had stuck with the ATS forum from April 2007 untill now, but as I know many posters and feel comfortable here at LBR will continue to post here.

cheers Foggy

This thread brings back lots of good memories.

Questionable Girls is where I got my info that enabled me to hit the ground running.

And still have friends from there today.

Things were different in the bar scene 9 years ago too.

There was Obsession, Cascade, and KC3 in Bangkok.

The only ladyboy bars in Pattaya still around from 9 years ago are Jenny Star Bar, Linda Bar, Hi Boss, and Sally's over in Jomtien.

I love this thread as it got me reminiscing about things past. I crossed the Ladyboy bridge in 2000, Aoy had just arrived in Pat Bar fresh from the farm and changed me forever.

At that time I was posting some stuff on BKKtonight.I guess we all remember that the LB threads were the most popular, but they were always fucked up by so many guys posting about how they would never go with a LB.

About 2001 I met one of our own (to borrow one of BBs expressions) in Toto Lulu in Jomtien and posted in BKKtonight. Then I got a private email from PDOG telling me about questionable girls, man I just loved that site and checked it every day for new material. I actually got to meet PDOG later and through him met Lefty, BB and many other great characters.

It's interesting how people have changed over the years. Now I sometimes see a trip report involving a LB on a mostly GG board and nobody bats an eyelid anymore.

Ah, yes, my mistake.... it's the Marine Disco. I've walked by it recently but haven't gone upstairs in years. JSB on the ground floor. Used to be packed later in the evening (morning) & in the dark it was hard to distinguish the freelance gg's from the tg's, at least it was for me in the 90's. That was where I typically ended my night if I was still solo. It just seems from my memory that it was jam-packed with girls & some lb's, but between the heat, music, drink & darkness... I don't have a lot of clear memories of how those evenings ended, or with who.

Do they still have the muay thai bouts below?

There was also the Simon Cabaret down the street, I liked it's down-market feel.

So that's what happened! I've been a lurker for some years, as some of you know, only bothering to post on LB-69 when I figured it was time to return the favor of much useful information gleaned over the years -- hence my first trip report last year. Had I known how much fun it was to post a TR, I would have been on it years ago when I first got to LOS.

I first started perusing TLB forums when it was still part of ATS back in the day, about the time when my usual porn trolling for shemales turned up this ridiculously hot ladyboy, Areeya. You've maybe heard of her? Anyway, I used to log in and peruse a bit, gathering whatever background/info I needed, then I'd be off again for awhile, gradually discovering the other forums. I remember walking into Cascades for the first time, several years ago now, acting like I owned the place and that I walked in everyday, no big deal. I pulled it off because I knew the drill, thanks to the forums.

When the TLB forums imploded, I never did really understand exactly what happened until now. I pieced together some info from threads on other forums, but always wondered; after all TLF was the "it" forum there for awhile -- planning a trip down to BKK? It was a must read.

Anyway, well-played, Jai-Dee. This is a great thread; very interesing. A piece of Internet history.

And I owe you as much as anyone for the valuable info I've gleaned over the years; hope the positive karma rubs off and comes back to you. And should our paths ever cross in person, I'll by you a bottle of your favorite flavor of karma. :drinks:

Aoy does not come from a farm, to my recollection. She is from Chonburi not too far north of Pattaya. I remember her mom dropping by in the early afternoons, about the time Pat Bar was opening for the day. She would also go see her mom sometimes and be back in time to go to work when the bar opened.

That was circa 2003. Now she has her own house, over on the dark side, and her mom lives with her I believe.

When I scan other forums these days and see some comments or stories which make me cringe I just smile to myself but I don't reply; we can let these new guys navigate the pitfalls of dealing with the ladyboys and in any case they don't want to hear what a jaded old fart would tell 'em anyway.

10 years, lots of posts, lots of comments and lots of friends made along the way - it's been a pretty wild ride and I have learned a lot and met some people I can hopefully call friends for life. If anyone else wants to add in their 3 cents and share with us when about you came into this story and which of the forums you have followed and which got you most interested in the LB's that would be great!

I think you sum up how many guys who have been in the scene a bit too long feel jaidee. Also it was a shame how TLF more or less shot itself in the foot by going the pay route and alienating some members, eventually fading to where it is today.

Time will tell if the recent events on LBP will have a lasting effect on its popularity also. We appear to be witnessing interesting times on the ladyboy scene, perhaps time for the next chapter in the history of ladyboy forums to be written.

A fine read so far old chap by the way. A must for anyone who wants to know how it all began.

Gotta agree fully with Jai Dee, this scene we are involved in is indeed a wild ride from the moment we get on it. As he says maybe some of the recent members would like to share how they entered this great tale. We are all part of this history after all.

Hi jaidee, thank you for a insight into the history of the forums, it was really interesting. I wonder could it be possible for staff here make this thread available for all members joining this great forum.

I hope i ain't gonna get in trouble for this but i found a old thread on LBQ called Minerva gallery, i just wondering was it same lb you and BB were chatting about.

wow, I'm surprised to see this thread is still alive 4 months later, but happy to see that some people enjoy reminiscing as much as I do!

It's fun to remember the days 'way back when'...... and it seems like the early days of LB forums was a magical time for us mongers; there was only one or 2 places to find info and meet like-minded people, so it felt like we had our own little club; BKK was alive with activity back then, and the people who got in on the ground floor of all that activity sure had a lot of fun.

Thanks for digging up the Minerva pics also, seeing that huge mushroom-shaped cock always makes me shiver :) Queen Raquela way before she ever became a Queen.

As I said, I can't add to trip reports or say much about the current crop of LB stars or bars, but once in a while I can hit the ol' memory bank and come up with stories like this; happy you guys enjoyed and thanks a lot for the nice comments.
