I've just watched the Thaiger video you were referring to: https://youtu.be/5Arl98t3EqE Seems that even Dan in Thailand doesn't really know the answer to every question including what will happen to the bar scene in Pattaya in the near to medium term future... I find his comment about Thais being closer to their families than westerns quite interesting. When the bars had to close due to the pandemic, bar girls simply started going back to their families up north. But will they simply return back to Pattaya or Bangkok when the bars reopen? Are they that flexible? Another point Dan in Thailand made was that bars must be allowed to serve alcohol again. No entertainment seeking farang would travel all the way to Thailand just to sit every evening for two weeks in a bar and drink a Coke. But I think that'll be resolved in the not too distant future, when the majority of people in Thailand are fully vaccinated they will allow alcohol in bars again I think. The terms under which farang can travel back to LOS must be reasonable: No quarantine, bars serving alcohol and being open until at least midnight come to mind... Dan's point that Thailand competes with destinations such as Dubai, Spain, and Greece is surely true. But in the case of Spain and Greece these are party destinations during the warmer months of the year, but not so much during high season in Thailand from November to March... The Chinese bus loads full of tourists may or may not come back that soon again. I'm not convinced that the powers to be in Beijing really want their citizens to travel abroad in big numbers for fear they will bring back the virus again... Even if they do come back early next year it'll be good for the Thai economy and I don't think it'll interfere that much really with the entertainment industry in LOS. At least not more than before the pandemic. My thoughts are that there'll be a coexistence between the more family friendly tourists from the PRC and the entertainment seeking farang. My theory is that where's demand there will be supply sooner or later. Regarding ladyboy bars in Bangkok: I think many will be gone forever: Chili's, Casanova, Temptations, Mercury, London Calling, King's Corner... Some will survive: Obsession, Straps, Cockatoo, Check-in-bar, Why Not Bar. Some may or may not survive (pure speculation): Chaos 9, Soi 7/1 bars, Shadow, DC 10, Pinocchio's and all the other ladyboy bars in Patpong 2... And perhaps there's even place for new ladyboy bars as well. The relatively new bar area between Soi 5 and Soi 7, currently very popular with expats, has potential in that regard I think... Wearing a mask does not make it hard to breath at all. This is just not true. Due to the humidity it does make your face a little hotter though. I am not sure what all the fuss is over face masks. Papa Sam Posted October 16, 2021 Share Posted October 16, 2021 Some remodeling work going on at the popular Stumble Inn Bar on Soi Nana (Sukhumvit Soi 4), diagonally across from the infamous Nana Hotel parking lot and next to Big Dogs bar: Video: Roundabout min. 2:00 Slightly off-topic: Seems that the owners of Rumours Bar on Sukhumvit Soi 7 have sold their bar: At least it looks like a complete makeover is on its way... I loved their old location in front of Queens Park Plaza on Sukhumvit Soi 22... QPP has been completely torn down last year I think. In its place they're building a grocery store now (Makro?)... Anyway: the relatively new bar area between Soi 5 and Soi 7, originally called Nana on 7 or something like that, appears to have become a success story, as it's particularly popular with the expat community. And very off-topic: Patpong has lost another gogo bar.
