A British ­paedophile jailed in Cambodia for ­sexually abusing three young ­brothers will be \

 

 

Labour MP John Mann has slammed the ­government decision to pay thousands for the return of Richard Fruin, 38, writes Matthew Drake in the Sunday People.

 

Mr Mann said: “It’s absurd. He should be made to swim back rather than the taxpayer funding it.”

Fruin will arrive within days after spending two years in a South East Asian jail.

 

And his terrified victims have warned it is just a matter of time before the English teacher abuses again.

Vile Fruin, who has a ­conviction for child porn in the UK, boasted: “I am ­returning to the UK a little older and a lot wiser to ­complete any ­obligations with the UK legal system. I’m looking forward to putting this all behind me and settling down.”

 

Fruin, from Gloucestershire, is on the sex offender register and fled Britain after serving a year for ­producing sickening images of child sex abuse.

 

He was arrested in a raid on a guest house in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in October 2013, when he was allegedly found in bed with a boy, aged eight.

 

The traumatised child victim’s brothers, aged ten and 11, also ­testified they had been molested.

Fruin was released from the ­notorious Prey Sar Prison on the outskirts of the Cambodian capital last month. Sex offenders deported from Cambodia normally have to pay for their own travel.

 

One victim said: “Fruin is an evil man who has ruined my life and that of my brothers. My mum trusted him and believed he’d help us. Instead he took us to his room and gave us fruit peel to eat that was drugged.”

 

Fruin sexually abused one of the boys as he lay unconscious on the bed. He befriended the family after visiting the boys’ mother’s stall near a market for more than a month.

 

The victim said: “I’ll never move on from what he did. I feel great shame and am embarrassed because ­people know what he did to me. He should still be in prison because he will do this again when he can.”

 

Fruin was ordered to pay £1,500 ­compensation to the victims and a fine of £600 but the family believe he will never pay up.

 

Last week Fruin said he had no way to prove his innocence in the UK case and claimed “nothing happened” in Cambodia and he had been set up.

 

He said: “Two years is the least I have known anyone to get. Hardly the beast of the UK.”

Children’s rights organisation Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE) warned Fruin will offend again.

Executive director Seila Samleang said: “Fruin is a repeat sex offender. He committed offences in the UK before he arrived in Cambodia and did it again.

 

“He felt no remorse for the ­victims or the crimes he committed. He denied his abusive behaviour. In my opinion he is very dangerous.”

 

APLE warned that confusion over who pays for paedophiles to be ­deported from countries such as Cambodia is putting hundreds of thousands of children at risk.

 

Cambodia has a become a haunt for child sex tourists from Britain. It was where notorious ­molester Gary Glitter lived before he fled to Vietnam when authorities started to move in on him.

 

Fruin’s known record of­ paedophilia goes back to 2005 when he was charged at Gloucester Crown Court with 15 counts of producing child pornography.

 

He was released on bail and fled the country for seven years. He travelled to Africa and South East Asia before returning to the UK in 2012, where he was re-arrested and sentenced to one year in prison.

Mr Mann has demanded tougher action to bring child sex offenders to justice.

 

He said: “Action should be taken to try to recover the money from him and to make sure he does not offend again.”
