Great photos BB...Brings back very good memories for certain...Sure wish I had a taste of some of some of that food.........Some great food to be had at those little stalls...........

And the next to last photo...There is always some poor guy who just landed with his suitcase in tow on Walking Street at night with no idea where he is going...I do hope he found his way...............

Cheers gents.  I notice those beach mats appear to be becoming more popular once the deckchairs are put away for the night.  Not sure if it's the same people renting them or another group run the night shift.  They are very popular with the Russians.

Let's have a looking Pattaya on Christmas morning.  I took a stroll alone before midday to reflect on Christmases past and family members I had celebrated them with who are no longer with us.  After all these years it's still hard to reconcile the hot weather around now with what I have experienced most of my life before SE Asia.  My first Xmas here was spent in Hua Hin.  I woke up on Christmas morning in my room in Bkk and thought "I need to spend today on a beach."  So I packed some essentials and headed up to Victory Monument to grab the first available mini van going south.  I was on that beach 6 hours after the thought crossed my mind.  Good times.

Because xmas in Europe has always been associated with mid winter and cold and dark etc I've never been able to get the concept of xmas somewhere warm it just seems weird .

Some years ago I was in the Canary Islands around xmas time and it seemed odd sunbathing with santa's and xmas trees all around .

Anyway I digress nice photo's BB .

My first December in Pattaya I was really looking forward to getting away from all the Christmas BS in a Buddhist country. I went in the back door of Royal Garden only to be greeted by Christmas carols playing on the PA. It was such a let down. There is no escape.

Big difference here is Xmas eve/Xmas is a very quite time with family/friends. In Pattaya it's just another excuse to shoot off noisy fireworks.

absolutely WONDERFUL pics BB. Stellar. The unknowns that do the decorating amaze me, some of em get so creative as with the Santa thing with guitar and moreso with the "snowflake umbrella" half in and half out of the water. I'm impressed by the thought behind it.

Personally I LOVE Christmas in the heat, it's all so wacky, like it much better than having my brain hammered on by incessant selling here at home. I avoid going out around Christmas. The economy seems to have made it a tolerable brief period of such as usually the hammering starts just before Thanksgiving and reaches a long crescendo for about a week or two before the day.

many thanks BB

Probably bump into you at some stage as I am here for 5 more weeks or so.

Well I have been accused and accept the accusation by some Thai LBs  > of being a butterfly man. So it wouldn't surprise me if the bumblebee and the butterfly end up flying around in some of the same flower patches. 555

Cheers chaps.  The unexpected always makes a wander around Pattaya even more interesting.  You see lots of those sardine like folk packed into trucks from 5 pm onwards coming up Thep Praya road after a hard day's slog on the construction sites for small money on their way to smelly galvanised huts and communal baths.  And we complain about our lot.....

There was a stiff breeze coming in off the sea up to today which made walking quite good without sweating too much.  Also the clear out on the beach adds to the feeling of being somewhere more tropical than Pattaya if you let your imagination play tricks with you a bit.  Only 2 weeks left in the place so I better make the most of these long wanders.

Some shots for those missing the place.
