Are Ladyboy And Shemale Politically Correct Terms

By now, you've probably heard about the Indonesian ladyboy tht was killed, cooked, and maybe cannibalized by her chef boyfriend.

 

An Aussie newspaper is being criticized for using the words Shemale and Ladyboy to described the murdered ladyboy. RIP.

 

Shemale is usually used by porn sites.

 

What is acceptable may vary from country to country.

 

In Thailand, the word Ladyboy is perfectly acceptable.

 

Ladyboy is commonly used throughout Southeast Asia.

 

OTOH, I could see the transgendered community being upset aboutthese words if not commonly used in their home country.

An Australian newspaper has provoked outrage by calling a murdered transgender woman a “she-male” and a “ladyboy”.

Mayang Prasetyo, from Indonesia, was allegedly murdered and dismembered by her boyfriend Marcus Volke, who killed himself after reportedly being caught “cooking” her remains on Saturday.

The gruesome case was sensationally reported in the Courier-Mail, owned by Rupert Murdoch’s NewsCorp.

Its front page headline on Tuesday read “Monster Chef and the She-Male”, featuring a picture of Ms Prasetyo, 27, in a bikini and an inside story was headlined “Ladyboy and the Butcher”.

As outrage spread on social media, a petition was launched under the name of the Brisbane Trans Community, where the murder took place, demanding an apology from the newspaper.

I dont why but I dont much like the words Shemale, Transexual or Transgender to describe them unless they are kinda "manly" in their appearance

 

If a boy looks, acts and dresses like a girl then its a Ladyboy to me

Some Ladyboys in Walking St get even more offended when you ask them if they are Ladyboy and they claim they are " Not Ladyboy" and walk off in a huff as they have been outed...maybe they were post ops out to snare some greenhorn sex tourists

Shemale is certainly derogatory, relegated to porn sites & younger knuckleheads imo. To me Ladyboy is specifically referring to Asians, but I notice the usage is slowly spreading to other races.

"Ladyboy" has been and will always be the proper reference for me. With using the word "lady" it has a respectful ring to it and I find it infinitely more alluring, interesting, exciting, than shemale, transgendered, transexual, et cetera. However that is my taste. I like small, cute, female looking ladyboys whatever race/country/culture.

I'm a bit pissed about the $ensationalizing over this story, one does not COOK with chemicals. I suspect the chemicals were something like lye and crazyboy was trying to get rid of the body. He was a chef no? big pots?

     ANYHOO....the younger folks mostly use TG or transgender or traps an so on. Usually ladyboy implies Asian tho I agree, it's a nice term,cept logically shouldn't it be ladyman? Tho maybe in this day and time a 24 yr old is considered a boy? What about all those around and over 30? The other kind of woman fits for me but good fockin luck getting THAT into the mainstream

I used the word transsexual with a Thai LB once and she didn't know the word. Best I can tell in North America the word ladyboy will not be well received.

Marcus Volke was working as an escort in Melbourne's club scene to pay off his credit card when he met and struck a deal with Indonesian woman Mayang Prasetyo, who desperately wanted to stay in Australia.

It was an agreement that involved them living for a long time together, but eventually it led to their deaths.

Chef named in Teneriffe murder-suicide

Marcus Volke allegedly murdered his Indonesian girlfriend Mayang Prasetyo and cooked parts of her body. Volke's body was later found near their apartment. Ten News: Oct 7, 2014

In October 2014 Volke, 27, murdered, disfigured and began cooking the remains of Ms Prasetyo – born Febri Andriansyah – at their Brisbane flat, before evading police and taking his own life in an industrial bin.

An examination of their deaths and the response from police began on Monday, with Coroner Terry Ryan hearing evidence from first-response officers, an investigator and member of the Queensland Police dog squad.

During questioning by counsel assisting the coroner, Emily Cooper, Detective Sergeant Joshua Walsh told the court the couple had met earlier while working as escorts, according to police interviews with Volke's former partner.

"She provided the information that they were residing together for an extended period of time," Detective Sergeant Walsh said.

"During that time Marcus had accrued a debt of approximately $9000 in credit cards, with no means of repaying it."

Detective Sergeant Walsh said Volke had worked as a chef part-time, but was unable to continue because he was mentally unwell.

He decided to become a male escort in Melbourne clubs as a way of repaying the debt.

"That was where he came into contact with Febri Andriansyah," Detective Sergeant Walsh said.

"They came up with an agreement between the two parties that he would assist with her getting a permanent partner visa for Australia and she would assist him within transgender clubs within Melbourne and overseas, in Europe and Asia."

The pair had travelled through Asia and Europe together, working as escorts in transgender clubs, the court heard.

Detective Sergeant Walsh said Volke and his former partner had kept in regular contact through emails and Facebook.

"She was able to ascertain that he was struggling, with both his identity and his employment, and wanted to break free from that and start as a dog breeder in Brisbane upon his return," he said.

"On one occasion she stated that he was considering self-harm."

During Monday's hearing the court was told Volke had presented to a Newstead-based doctor with anxiety, depression and a sleep disorder, and had previously been treated by Victoria's Ballarat Hospital as a teenager.

The hearing continues on Tuesday.

This story is back in the news again at the moment as there is an investigation into Police conduct. Sad that there were warning signs and nothing was done about it.
