Recommended Posts

We are compiling a Master list of Accommodation in Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, The Various Islands, like we have done for Pattaya  Pattaya Hotel Master List so that there will be a definitive easy to use hotel thread for them. This will save members having to trawl through pages and pages of posts to find the place they are looking for.

So we are asking for your help in naming the accommodation you stay in in when visiting these places, maybe a comment about them if you so wish, and we'll create the list from your feedback along with the places we already know about

Thanks for your help guys, together we can make the forum as user friendly as possible.

From the Hua Hin master list:

Celtic Inn

At The Celtic Inn, every effort is made to make guests feel comfortable. To do so, the hotel provides the best in services and amenities. Concierge, room service, smoking area, bicycle rental, 24hr room service are just a few of the facilities that set The Celtic Inn apart from other hotels in the city.

Unless something has drastically changed since February the above discription at Agoda is wrong. It is a nice place to stay but is a guest house with, I think, only six rooms. Concierge? Room service? 24 hr Room service? The place is almost always closed and shuttered by midnight. Late night access to the rooms is via a locked side door. I'm not sure there is room service much less 24 hours. They will arrange a ride, etc for you so I guess you could sort of call that a concierge service. Again it is a good place to stay but the listing makes it sounds like the Hilton when it's a tiny guesthouse.

I recently stayed at the Ibis hotel back in March for 6 nights.

Located at south of Hua Hin. Very closed to Market Village.

Staff friendly and helpful. Having come from Ibis soi 4 Bangkok. There is a mini bus shuttle at 900 baht each. Though we used a taxi at 2000 baht and took the shuttle back 6 days later

I booked the hotel from Ibis soi 4 over the phone at reception with a little help from the receptionist and as Accor Advantage Plus member I received 10% discount.

The hotel is by the beach front,  You just walk by the side of the hotel and down a slip road onto the beach. Don't forget to look where you came onto the beach as it is easy to forget where you came on to the beach when going back.

Having come from soi 4 Ibis. It was like walking back in to the same hotel. As most Ibis hotels look the same   Though their is a balcony but I found it a bit small.

The room size standard Ibis, very clean and nice room. There's kettle and refrigerator in the room and a 7/11 and Tesco Lotus just 2 minutes away Also free coffee and tea available in the room same as all in Thailand.

Swimming pool is average size and the water very clear and clean. Don't forget to bring the swimming pool towel from the room.

Wifi in the all hotel area are free, asked the password from reception.

Overall very good service from all staff and very nice hotel.

Would stay there again if I go back to Hua Hin.

Agoda are certainly pushing their artistic license, with that section, there again come to think of it there was a ladyboy sent to my room one night at 4.30 am, so I guess that's close enough to 24 hours room service.

Tweaked it a bit just now. :geek:

Yes Thanks Lone Ranger. Doesn't look like I'll be getting to LOS this year, but I'm thinking of going for two months next Jan-Feb. I think I will probably go to Hua Hin, as it seems quieter than Patts, and with a decent beach to stroll along. If I get bored I might head over to Jomtien for a while.

At the moment I think I will book the Ibis for the first 10-14 days, then consider extending stay there or changing to another hotel.

Would appreciate any recommendations for reasonably priced (around £30) hotels near the beach in Hua Hin, which are lb friendly.

Edit: Are most hotels and guesthouses in Hua Hin generally lb friendly as they are in Pattaya?

Thanks bumblebee. It was good to meet you and Jimslim last November. Unfortunately I wasn't too well for most of my time there, which put me off LOS, for a while anyway, and I cancelled my trip this February. But I'm missing LOS again now, and as I have taken redundancy I will be able to go for a couple of months next winter. I'd like to spend some time in Hua Hin as I do like walking on beaches, but will probably go back to Jomtien for at least the last few days, as it will be easier to get to BKK airport from there for the early flight back.

Will let you guys know nearer the time and maybe meet up with anyone who is going to be around then.
