A foreign man who refused to offer Police his name or nationality was arrested early on Saturday morning after he was accused of damaging a Pattaya Police Truck during a fit of rage brought on by the arrest of his girlfriend on drugs offences.

Witnesses saw the man first throw a stone at the Police Truck parked on Pattaya Beach Road in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach and only meters away from the Police Station. During the angry attack on the vehicle, damage was sustained to the driver-side Wing Mirror and driver-side taillight. An aerial fitted to the roof was also bent-in-half.

In a bizarre attempt to elude capture the foreign suspect ran into the sea but later came out and was arrested. When arrested he refused to speak and was taken to Pattaya Police Station where he joined his girlfriend behind bars on a charge of criminal damage to a Police vehicle.

A 25-year-old man met his demise after getting hit by a train at a railway crossing in Pattaya on Sunday, January 1st.  His yellow Vespa motorcycle was crushed by train No. 5101 heading to the Sattahip district.

Pattaya police asked Mr. Thanthap Matanon, 27, who witnessed the deadly accident and were told the victim attempted to cross the railroad track when the train was approaching.  The victim tried to drive around the barrier despite the train already sounding its warning horn. He then got hit by the train and landed on the grass near the track, passing away.

The train driver, 43-year-old Mr. Weerawat Worawong, told The Pattaya News that the victim marked the 20th casualty in his 10-year career as the train driver. All of the victims disobeyed the barrier and tried to beat the train, but the train usually traveled at 90 kilometers per hour, which made it difficult to stop in time at close calls, Weerawat said.
