The Siem Reap bus departs Mo Chit at 9am and the return service leaves the Cambodian town at 8am. The fare is 750 baht. azza33
Nice post... Now a simple but important question.. Does one need to be holding the appropriate visa before they on the bus?
dixon cox
Does one need to be holding the appropriate visa before they on the bus? It depends which way you're going and what you require. Entering Cambodia overland you don't need to do anything prior, but having two passport photos would be useful and save you a few bucks. A one month tourist visa on arrival costs $20 (extendable by one more month once in-country), or an ordinary (business) visa (extendable up to one year, maybe indefinately, once in-country) costs $25. You could also prepare in advance for Cambodia with an e-Visa instead - http://www.mfaic.gov.kh/evisa/ Entering Thailand overland you will only receive 15 days upon entry, unless you come pre-prepared with a 60-day tourist visa, which can easily be obtained within Cambodia for around $49 and 4 working days to do it in from any or most travel shops. Yuzirneym
According to the link (and Google Translate) the bus until Phnom penh seems to be temporarily suspended.
360
Approx. $120 for a return ticket Bangkok (Don Mueang) - Phnom Penh on Air Asia. It's a 65min direct flight. The online entry visa application is $28.
360
Just saying flying is a reasonable alternative for this route. Less adventurous and more costly but worth considering.
360
Chill buddy, I find it contextually relevant, and hopefully of value to BMs who will be reading this thread when plannig their trip from BKK to PP. Let's all be a bit more tolerant about personal choice for mode of transport, this being an alternative lifestyle forum...
pdogg
It's very hard to find info from anyone who has actually taken this phantom bus. Researching this, one guy suggest the government bus from Ekamai station to Rong Kluea market, through immigration and taxi to Siem Reap, a couple days in Siem Reap and then Mekong Express Bus to PP. We flew Air Asia to Phnom Penh in late 2011 - I am sure it was from Suvarnabhumi - does the flight now go from Don Mueang?

pdogg
The bus does exist! Bangkok Coconuts write a great article about the bus trip. Key takeaway- When traveling from Thailand to Cambodia get an electronic visa in advance to avoid visa scams. http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2013/05/06/coconuts-test-drives-new-bangkok-cambodia-bus-service
