Two Russian females were facing serious assault charges on Wednesday Night after an incident at a 7-Eleven Convenience Store located at the top-end of Soi Diamond in South Pattaya.

Police were called to the store just before 11pm and detained Miss Irina Lyubaykina aged 35 and Miss Elena Klepechina aged 27. They were accused of smashing a coke bottle over the head of one of the shop assistants, Khun Sayumporn aged 28. She sustained a head injury and was taken straight to hospital. The two Russians were taken to Pattaya Police Station where they refused to speak about the incident.

Reports from the hospitalized shop assistant suggested the pair purchased items to the value of 219 Baht. Khun Sayumporn claims she was given 220 Baht and gave back 1 Baht in change. The two Russians claimed they handed over a 1,000 Baht note and demanded the 781 Baht in change be handed over immediately. The shop assistant refused which is when the situation became violent.

Both Russians remain under arrest at time of publication pending further questioning of the shop assistant.

You dont want to spend even a minute of your hols in a Thai prison-DUH!!! Even if the worker was in the wrong, why be so stoopid over 800 baht!! All the times I have been in a 7-11 and paid with a 100 baht note, I have never gotten ripped off. Thats yet another job I wouldnt like. That beeping of the door alone would make me want to shoot someone!!!

Unfortuantely the Russians through their general behaviour are quickly becoming detested in Pattaya.

The majority do not speak any Englsih, let alone any Thai, they appear ignorant of any basic curtesy and manners and certainly make no effort, whatsoever to, ingratiate themselves.

The Thai tourism authority clearly stated, 5 years ago, that their new target focus group for Tourism was Russian, Asian and Arabs - I hope they are satisfied with the results? The Russians, Indians and Arabs are quickly becoming renowned for being rude and mean.

Rough week for 7/11 employees, a drunk Frenchman slaps a lady working there, better than a coke bottle over the head I guess.

http://www.pattayadailynews.com/en/2012/12/05/cctv-shows-frenchman-slapping-7-eleven-clerk/

A 44-year-old drunken Frenchman was arrested for assaulting employees at a 7-Eleven store on Walking Street. He had demanded a refund on a 50 THB pre-paid phone card after it was entered in his phone. When refused, he hurled his phone at employees and slapped an assistant manager’s face.

Why the French Tourist is pissed...Cause..............

"French scientists are warning that French men's sperm counts are plummeting at record rates.

A study of nearly 27,000 French men found the average sperm concentration fell more than 32 percent over the 17-year study period between 1989 and 2005. That's almost 2 percent each year."

No little French sperm...No little French babies...

So long, and thanks for all the wine...

And don't forget the Chinese Rossco, we've got herds of them stenching out the place, up here in Chiang Mai... TAT may love em' for the flight & hotel numbers, but the Thai in the street is really starting to hate them with a vengence, they're easily as rude & kurt as the Ruskies, as stingy as the Indians & as noisy as the Arabs... And they don't even want to try speaking English, let alone trying out some Thai... Bad combination!

Funily enough, I mentioned a post or two ago that I pulled a Chinese 'GG' tourist a little while ago... Well she was actually an ex city whizz kid who'd worked in the U.S. & happened to speak really good English... And she once said to me, "If you want to know who the Chinese are most like, look at the Russians"... Kinda makes sence.

It's always been an ambition of mine to shag a little 7/11 girl... How anybody could ever hurt one of these cute little creatures, God only knows?!

Pattaya beginning to earn bad reputation with Russian tourists

Friday, 30 November 2012 From Issue Vol. XX No. 48 By Vittaya Yoondorn

Russian Federation Consul Andrey Dvornikov told police and city officials that, due to increasing crime against tourists, Pattaya is gaining a growing reputation back home for being unsafe.

At a Nov. 19 meeting between Thai and Russian officials and tour operators, the embassy counselor cited the increasing frequency of gold and handbag snatches and hotel burglaries, saying crimes are being reported in Russia with many travelers forming negative impressions of safety in Pattaya.

n4seminar-1.jpgEvgeny Pisarevskiy (center), Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturism) and Russian officials address local officials and businesses about the challenges faced by Russian tourists in Pattaya.

Dvornikov blamed the increase in crime to the termination of joint Pattaya Police-Royal Thai Navy patrols earlier this decade. Ended due to budget constraints, the Military-Police Cooperative Patrol Project was supposed to be restarted in May 2009 following a mandate from then-Gov. Senee Jittakasem. But despite calling the program “essential” for tourism, the plan was sent to a committee for study, never to reemerge.

The Russian consul also was critical of Thai officials for the common practice of hotels taking tourists passports. He said passports were property of the Russian government and that Thai officials showed “negligence” in instructing hotels to demand and hold them.

Dvornikov’s criticisms came as embassy and Pattaya officials met to address the major concerns faced by Russian tourists, with security and medical coverage topping the list. The forum also gave local business leaders a chance to meet with Russian tourism executives in hopes of keeping their business juggernaut going.

The Russian delegation said their main concerns focused on information services for tourists, insurance, medical expenses and the general perception of security. Evgeny Pisarevskiy, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturism), pointed, in particular, to the disparity in the prices charged to Thais and Russians for medical care.

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh said communication remains the biggest obstacle Pattaya public officials and business owners have in dealing with Russians, due to low Russian-language fluency. But Ronakit also criticized Russian tourists, saying many can’t read or ignore warning signs posted around the city, leading to their injury or death.

He said the city is addressing the language barrier by allocating funds to the Pattaya Business & Tourism Association to distribute for training.

The deputy mayor also addressed the city’s highest-profile tourist problem: jet skis. He said the long-running extortion and intimidation scandal has gotten the notice of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who designated the country’s national security director to oversee resolution of the issue.

Still being debated in committee, the proposed solution involves requiring jet ski vendors to carry insurance to cover any damage.

As for medical services, Ronakit said, the area is served by numerous rescue services that can reach those in need within 10 minutes. He suggested Russian tour operators enter insurance contracts with those agencies and area hospitals to improve efficiency.

With Russian tourists having already spent more than 1 billion baht in the kingdom, Thai officials are keen to keep their largest new tourist bloc happy. As such, government and business representatives from both sides agreed to hold similar meetings again on a regular basis.

Some of their beefs seem very legitimate:

"The Russian consul also was critical of Thai officials for the common practice of hotels taking tourists passports. He said passports were property of the Russian government and that Thai officials showed “negligence” in instructing hotels to demand and hold them."

I been traveling to Thailand for long periods for some time now and I have never ever had a hotel attempt to hold my passport...I don't doubt the Russian official but maybe, just maybe, the hotels are holding their passports for a reason...Could it have something to do with paying or not paying the hotel bill or something like that...

It looks like hotels are only doing what they're told, I suppose at registration? Could be a police thing I guess, but surrendering passports is a big deal and the Russians are right to push back on that.

"In Russia, hotel surrenders to passport!"

Passports are sacred. Absolutely sacred!

Once I had my passport stolen in Xian, China along with every other piece of ID, money, credit cards, the full meal deal. I was in the middle of China without anything to prove who I was. I had nothing. It was a nerve racking, tremendously miserable and scary ordeal. That experience taught me a valuable lesson. My passport will NEVER leave my person again. Under no circumstances will I surrender it anyone. I even get the heebie geebies when a hotel clerk takes it away to the back room to photocopy. I am extremely paranoid about being disconnected from my passport. When I travel the only thing of value is my passport. Everything else simply does not matter. Money, credit cards, clothes, cameras, cellphones, computers, whatever! I could care less. Passport is all that matters to me and the sooner the better we are able to insert a passport chip into our body.

Unless I am missing something here...That's a quote from the Russians...Not the Thais...Nor the Yanks nor the Brits nor the Aussies nor anyone else...Just the Russians...

Have you ever been asked to surrender your passport by a Pattaya hotel?

I never have...Never, never, ever... Nor by a hotel in Pattaya or Bangkok or Chiang Mai or Koh Samui or Phuket or Korat or Khon Kaen or etc. etc. etc...............

Nope, but I'm a trusty-looking hansum man :)

from another site: ''Instead of taking passports, which are the property of the Russian Government, police should hold credit cards as security,'' he added. http://phuketwan.com/tourism/russians-seek-improved-safety-security-pattaya-17083/

Your hunch may be correct regarding payment

Its a bit rich coming from the Russians....In Russia youre compelled to carry your passport around with you should a policeman want to ID you, failure to do so (or a copy) results in arrest...(happened to a friend of mine)..Youre also required to register with a police station upon arrival....failure to do so will result in a fine upon leaving the country.......

My brother done a midgit once, a propper one too, big head & the stumpy fingers, the lot... He tried to tell me he was doing her a favour.

Man, oh to do a Jap, especially a newhalf... They can happily put me in the box after that, I'd have done all I wanted to in this life!

Never wanted to do an Asusie!

I can mark all the rest off your list including a Yank, lived with the bitch for two years, she wouldn't shut up!... And I did a mile of Euro pigs in my youth.

Interestingly Willie, most countries, including the UK, have a law similiar to this. Only difference being in the UK and many other places this law is not fully enforced, or even given any credit by the Police. I was in the States about 12 years ago, just outside LA,and a Policeman friend of my cousin reminded me to carry my ID at all times as it is a federal offence not to have an official form of identification on your person at any time. I'm sure our American brethren can confirm/deny this.

I am not sure what you mean by "surrender" but I have had hotels ask for it upon check in. All they do is make a copy of the picture page and give it right back.

Now I dont know if any of youse read THE STICKMAN ' S column but he has writted about police stopping and searching farang around Asoke. I guess you really should make a photocopy of the picture page and hand that over. Here in the US of A i dont know of any laws REQUIRING one to carry ID. If you get into any bother the cops can find out who you are just by asking your name and SSN.
