bumblebee
I really do seem to have too much free time on my hands just now, and thus my mind comes up with all strange thoughts, no laughing at the back please. We all use the term BM (Board Member) when we refer to forum members, but surely FM would be more appropriate? Why has the term BM taken off and not FM? Anyway, that's my thought for today, apologies for boring you all.
farangbah
Why has the term BM taken off and not FM? ...because "BM" is a popular acronym for "bowel movement" and we never miss a chance to call each other pieces of shit! :ass: No, seriously folks, did the term "message board" predate the advent of the term "forum" in the early days of the interweb? DownLoLarry
I'm a latecomer to the internet, 1997, but as FB says I think message boards and bulletin boards were the terms back then. The Forums aren't a Werner Erhardt seminar nor a gathering of Roman Senators. I do prefer FM but I haven't seen it anywhere. Lots of less useful things to think about, for example. if Pattaya had a skytrain where would the stations be?

DownLoLarry
    I'd have a stop outside Lucky Love Bar, the stop at Koyo7 would empty pasengers right into the bar and the terminus would be Soi VC. Back on topic, I'm going to start using FM. I like it better; maybe it'll catch on.
KenW
I also like and will use FMs. It has a nice ring (so does Meena) and a bolt of history: In radio: Frequency Modulated For the Irish: Finn MacCool In politics (of the Westminster kind): Foreign Minister For celebrities: Fan Mail For a military sergeant: Forward March! Higher echelons of the military: Field Marshall For your local Aussie: Fuck Me! etcetera, that said it were
farangbah
I like the letters "FM" better than "BM" (bowel movement), but I like the term "board member" better than "forum member"... But that's just me...
SiamSam
I agree with FB. I like "Board Member" as a opposed to "Forum Member". It also conjures up a sense of class. I see Board as a business thing rather than a bulletin board thing.
