Kasikorn problems....

Having successfully transferred monies via Wise for a couple of years, I now find them being rejected by Kbank for no apparent reason. I've rung their helpline twice, been into 2 branches, yet no-one has any idea why. I've sent with both Wise and now Revolut, but rejected every time. Wise say it's a Kbank problem and Kbank say it's the sender not giving the correct info. What a clusterfuck. Thankfully I still have a Bkk bank account which is business as usual for receiving cash from abroad. Oddly enough, an LB told she never uses Kbank because it's 'a cheap bank' - and I'm beginning to agree.

So......... where to go from here? I can do internal transfers ok, atm withdrawals etc, but no international. The only option I can think of is to close the account, wait until I'm out of the system, and then re-open another keeping my fingers crossed. I like Kbank solely because of the proliferation of ATMs - there's even one at my condo. With Bkk bank it tends to be 'wherefore art thou ATM?' as the one in TukCom has since disappeared.

Is anyone else experiencing this shitshow?

Sometimes if sending more than 50K there is a problem but sounds like your problem is deeper than that.

Recently it's becoming very difficult for farang to open new bank accounts in Thailand so I don't suggest closing your account. I have a Kasikorn account that I never use but I keep it open,  Think as long as there is 2Kin your account it will stay open but I have to check it out one of these days.

Since you like using Kasikorn ATMs and you can do domestic transfers perhaps the workaround is doing a Wise transfer to Bangkok Bank and doing a free online transfer from Bangkok Bank to Kasikorn?

Yes, I think transferring to Kbank is the only viable option here, but it's just annoying that I have to resort to that. I may go in and threaten to close my account, and they should ask why, which is when I'll give them the squalid details! Probably tell me to fuck off then and don't darken our doorways again - all said in the most polite way of course. Kbank charge me B200 p.a  for my debit/atm card so if I keep my account open I'll have to be mindful of that.

SCB Easy account has a cardless ATM and you earn 1.5% interest (for deposits up to 1 million baht).  Note, I have heard that Jomtien Immigration accepts this account even though there is no bankbook,

But to play it safe, I keep my Immigration money in a Krungsri Mee Tae Dai account.  The Mee Tae Dai is not for everyday banking as there are only 2 free withdrawals of any kind per month.

When going to multiple banks, I go to the 4th floor of Central Festival as all the banks are there.

All Thai banks are becoming more strict to comply with new anti money laundering (AMLO) organization rules as the US and other countries apply pressure for Thai banks to clean up their acts.

Unfortunately this causes issues for foreign residents who do have Thai bank accounts - particularly those who do not have a long term visa. I recently had to unlock my Bangkok Bank mobile banking and internet banking apps, by going to True getting a letter stating I was the registered owner of my SIM card and getting a Tax ID receipt changing my plan from prepaid to postpaid.

PD's suggestion is probably the best workaround for now, until you get some more information from K Bank.

I'll keep the Kbank account open for now. I've ring fenced 20k in there just in case of emergencies - like paying the 20k excess on my medical insurance in case of a claim.
