Unpopular Opinion: The Clubbing Scene in Pattaya Is Way Better Than the Lady Bar Scene

I know lady bars are a staple of Pattaya nightlife, but after spending serious time in both scenes, I’m convinced the clubbing scene offers a far superior experience, especially for those who know how to navigate it.

The biggest issue with lady bars is the built-in dynamic, from the moment you walk in, you’re automatically a customer. The whole setup frames you as a “mark,” whether you like it or not. Sure, you can make it fun or try to keep it light, but there’s always a transactional undertone hanging in the air.

Compare that to clubs: the vibe is completely different. Even if there are freelancers around, they’re off the clock and there for the fun like everyone else. The interaction feels way more organic. You dance, you drink and you vibe. Also I find it's actually cheaper than the bar scene sometimes the ladies will already have a table with bottle and it's not hard to get invited. In fact, I’ve had nights where a girl was clearly having a great time, and if I bring up money she actually would get annoyed or turned off. It’s like they have a mental divide between “work” and “fun,” and clubs are where the fun happens.

Of course, this comes with a caveat: you need to have some level of game. Clubs don’t spoon-feed you interaction like lady bars do. I’ve seen guys walk up with awkward approaches and zero game like asking — “how much?” — and get shut down immediately. You need to read the room, be playful, have energy, and most importantly, not come off like a customer.

Another major plus for clubs: diversity. In lady bars, you’re mostly meeting the same demographic — Isaan girls, often with similar stories, routines, and expectations. In clubs, I’ve met girls from Bangkok, Eastern European wome etc... If you’re looking to connect with someone on a more equal or relatable level — maybe similar lifestyle, education, or outlook — the club scene opens that door.

To be clear, I’m not knocking the lady bar scene entirely, it has its place, especially for guys who want a predictable, low-effort night. But if you’re someone who enjoys a bit of a challenge, values authentic vibes, and wants more variety in your interactions, the club scene is where it’s at.

And  NO!!! Its not gonna happen 60 yo low-status farangs picking non-prosti posh Thai girls in the clubs.  They dont want to be seen with cheap Charlie grandpas.  This is something I am observing in Angeles where the gorgeous younger girls no longer work in the bars.  They freelance selectively at the 2 or 3 top clubs and take their pick of the younger handsome foreigners.  Some choose to go with fashionable Koreans only.  I suspect they all end up paying way more than the barfines.

I've noticed something strange in the OP. Although the post seems to have been written by an AI, I spotted a couple of grammar slips that likely come from a word-for-word translation — phrasing that doesn’t really exist in English and gives away the author’s native language (I tested a few of them by running them through Google Translate). I've noticed this kind of posting on a few forums, even in different countries. Right, it's not going to happen at the RCA clubs in Bangkok where the vast majority of female customers are civilians.

But I think it describes the scene at JuJu Bar on Buakhao fairly well which seems to attract afterwork bargirls and freelancers.
