Whether there is a design flaw in all Max8's or whether that particular plane was a lemon, Boeing has delivered an inferior product.

Of course given the magnitude of the problem on the previous flight the airplane Lion Air should have been taken out of service until repairs were made and  a test flight completed.

It seems that it would have been very difficult for even a pilot such as Capt Sully to avoid crashing as the proper decision needed to made within 10 seconds of noticing the problem.  But then Capt Sully would never have taken off in this plane.

What is the relationship between Lion Air and Thai Lion Air?

I think I'll pass on flying Thai Lion in the future to save 500 baht!  Not that I really want to fly out of Don Mueang anyway.  

My experience was quite good with Thai Lion as I was on a nice new plane, maybe a Max8.

In the midst of the chaos that is associated with the Trump presidency, Congress has released its final report on the Boeing 737 Max. It is 238 pages long, but this Youtube video does a good job summarizing. For those Republican supporting forum members out there, I would like to know if you can continue to justify less government oversight and regulation of business, when things like this happen.

Air Asia now has flights from Swampy, not just Don Mueang.  

I don't even consider flights to/from Don Mueang.   Going to Don Mueang from Pattaya you can take the 130 baht bus Jomtien bus to Swampy and then the free shuttle but have to build in lots of extra time in case I hit traffic.   Coming back from Don Mueang they won't let you on the free shuttle unless you can show an outbound ticket so gets expensive even though time is not an issue for me.  

Air Asia may have a reputation for being low cost but once you get to the final price it is often more expensive than the competition.   Air Asia might b cheaper if you are only flying with carry on luggage.

AirAsia used to be cheap but that changed several years ago.

They are just domestic flights and those often aren't great from Swampy IMO. Often you have no real boarding gate, get bused to the plane and the domestic waiting area can be very busy. The bus to the plane also usually happened on my past Cambo flights on BKK Air.

Oh well I once got bused to a Boeing 787 at Narita for a BKK flight.

Tomorrow, Singles Day, 11-11, Thai Smile is having a sale.    Nice thing about Thai Smile is that the price u see is the price u get.  You get 20 kg free checked luggage and most of their flights are out of Swampy.   

You can pay at 7/11 for a nominal service charge about 30-50 baht.   It is neither booze nor fags  :homoswitch:.  Do you get stamps with that?  8P

The airline now has 500 executive positions, down from 740. In addition, the executive hierarchy will now consist of five levels. Previously there were eight, from the CEO to team leader.

The national flag carrier last March filed a petition to be rehabilitated under court supervision. It was one of the world's first legacy carriers to go under due to the coronavirus-induced travel disruptions. Its petition was accepted in September, and the company has since been working on a restructuring plan to be submitted by March 2 for approval by the court and eventually its creditors.

The elimination of executive positions is integral to the airline's rehabilitation. Thai Airways' hiring of air force officers regardless of their business acumen is widely seen as a critical factor in the former state-owned national flag carrier's financial plight.

The airline has been releasing its efforts for survival and rehabilitation in bits. In January, it announced that it had raised 2.7 billion baht ($90 million) by selling a 15.5% stake in Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services, which provides airplane fueling and other services. The proceeds will serve as working capital.

There are also industry reports that Thai Airways has been selling off jetliners in the secondary market, though it has not released information about any changes to its aircraft assets.

Thai Airways has often been criticized for the large number of models in its fleet, a factor that increases upkeep and repair costs.

In November, Chansin said 5,000 of roughly 20,000 employees signed up for early retirement.

Recently, a local media report said management has informed workers that the company may only be able to keep 905 of its current 1,300 pilots and 50% to 60% of its 6,000 cabin crew. On Feb. 8, the company said its aircraft and workforce adjustments are ongoing.

Ahead of the submission deadline, Supattanapong Punmeechaow, a deputy prime minister in charge of economic affairs, instructed the Ministry of Finance to conduct a further study of the rehabilitation plan's key points, such as debt structure, cash reserves and the airline's ability to service debt. The Ministry of Finance is the company's largest -- but not the majority -- shareholder.

"We need to do a lot more homework and weigh the information we have carefully to pinpoint the airline's real debt-servicing capacity," Supattanapong said.

As of Sept. 30, the company's total liabilities stood at 338.9 billion baht against total assets of 298.9 billion baht. Total shareholder equity was at minus 39.9 billion baht. Thai Airways has not released its financial results for the quarter ended December.

I've always had good experiences with Thai Airways.  Swampy departures, generous baggage allowance, and a price that often beat the so called budget airlines.

New rules for inter-provincial travel have been announced.  Planes can fly at 75% capacity.   This means nobody will be forced into the dreaded middle seat.    :party0011:

Certain destination provinces have additional restrictions but Bangkok and Rayong (U-Tapao) don't.

The CCSA also explained regarding the vaccine certificate for Thais and foreigners that they can apply for a certificate for international travels at the International Communicable Disease Control Port at Suvannabhumi International Airport (via pre-booking appointment at porthealth_bkk@ddc.mail.go.th), travel clinics at Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute (02-590-3430), and Urban Institute for Disease and Prevention and Control (02-521-0943 to 5)

The required documents for the application are 1. vaccine certificate (for two doses) from a hospital, 2. Passport, 3. Travel documents, such as airline tickets, and 4. 50-baht fee.
