Bangkok horse racing (maybe this should be in Locker Room) - yesterday (Sunday) in the first race, the Maiden handicap at the Royal Turf Club meeting a horse named  "Lady Boy" was among the starters.

She is a young filly by Coal Play, ran a respectable race too, finishing second.  It was her first race start after trialling okay last year.  I'll keep an eye out for her at her next run.

It'd be fun to be in the stands yelling Cmon Ladyboy!  :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Is it an every day thing or do they race only on Sunday?

Easy to get two.

Parimutual system as in the West?

She is a filly - 2 years 11 months old. (so she is a proper ladyboy).and will go up in class now as she placed in the maiden race.

Bangkok racing is every Sunday (unless it clashes with a Buddhist day, in which case it reverts to Saturday). The Royal Turf Club (at Nang Lerng) and the Royal Bangkok Sports Club (at Patumwan) stage the meetings on alternate weeks.

Betting is by totalizator only (apart from the illegal bookmakers) and covers win, place, quinella (1st & 2nd) and trifecta (1st - 2nd - 3rd, in correct order).   Minimum bet is 50 baht

And NO, SP, I cannot claim to have cleaned up, but the place dividend on Lady Boy will cover the milky bars when you get here.

Not intended to hijack this as a racing topic, but an update on Lady Boy - on Sunday in Bangkok she ran another presentable race, leading early but run over at the finish, coming in 2nd.

However in the maiden handicap, "Rim Tara"  did nothing at all ... must be my dirty mind.

On Saturday night plain clothes officers from Thonglor Police Station raided the S22 Massage & Spa located in “Honey Plaza” on Sukhumvit Soi 22 following a tip-off alleging their were minors available on the premises being offered to paying customers for sexual services.

32-year-old Sukrit Kittipadung was taken into custody after admitting he was in charge of the business and now faces multiple vice related charges including sexual solicitation, procuring minors under the age of 18 and human trafficking related to child prostitution.

The sting operation was given the green light by newly-appointed Thonglor superintendent Pol Col Khajohnpong Jitpakpoom.

An undercover officer called the S22 Massage Parlour and arranged sexual services with Sukrit who quoted prices of 3,000 baht per hour per girl.

At the appointed time officer Praphun visited the Honey Plaza nuru massage shop and paid the 6,000b fee in cash and was taken by Sukrit himself to a room on the second floor where the two girls were brought to him.

Once he witnessed sexual solicitation, officer Praphun identified himself as a policeman working undercover and put everyone under arrest before calling in the back up team who were on standby in the area.

A total of 12 girls were taken from the parlour in an operation that lasted over two hours. Of the 12 taken away nine were under the age of 18. Cash, condoms, massage oil and a timer clock were seized as evidence.

In his statement Sukrit told police he used the internet to entice young girls willing to work as prostitutes who were paid 1,000 baht per customer. The parlour took a 500 baht baht fee and as manager he would earn between 500 to 1000 baht from each of the eight or nine customers who visited and paid for services each day.

I think they edited part of the report out. I've filled it in from my imagination:

Once he witnessed sexual solicitation, officer Praphun (was given a hand job and blow job, then proceeded to anally violate each of the defendants in order to ascertain that they would actually follow through on said solicitation, after the completion of which he) identified himself as a policeman working undercover and put everyone under arrest before calling in the back up team who were on standby in the area.

A Russian fashion model has been arrested for allegedly beating and online stalking his former Thai girlfriend.

But Ivan Lomakin, 29, denied the charge, saying he would never harm Stasha Dansitthitecho-udom because, he said, he loves her dearly.

Lomakin was arrested at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 3 am Thursday while he was about to return to Russia. He said he wanted to visit his ill father and did not plan to flee.

Phra Khanong police took Lomakin to custody Thursday evening.

Stasha, a nude model and singer, filed a complaint with the Phra Khanong on June 9 last year, alleging that her ex-boyfriend beat her with a dumbbell and he tried to force 40 pills of sleeping pills into her mouth and also tried to hurl her down a condominium. She claimed that a security officer came to her rescue.

Stasha also alleged that Lomakin stalked her online and posted messages and comments that embarrassed her.

But Lomakin told police through his lawyer, Buawarong Sapkingsan, that the story was otherwise.

He said Stasha had a quarrel with him out of her jealousy so he left the room. He said when he came back to the room, he found her lying on the bed with sleeping pills around her. Lomakin said he rushed downstairs to seek help from security officers.

Lomakin said he would like to send a message to his former girlfriend that he loved her and had never thought about harming her. He was planning to marry her but the two broke up first.

But Stasha told reporters that she would never agree to an out-of-court settlement with the Russian model. She would seek legal actions against him to the full extent.

Bars in and around Soi Nana have been told it’s back to business as usual from today as far as closing times go by Lumpini police, who declared to bar bosses on Tuesday it was early closing for two weeks.

It seems whatever reasoning they had behind their decision for early closing was scuppered when a blog made ridiculous claims the order was city wide bringing unwanted attention to local activities.

It was apparent last night there was no order outside of Lumpini as bars and clubs in Patpong, Thonglor and RCA all closed at their normal times.

To confirm, bars in and around Soi 4, including Nana Plaza, will return to normal closing times, effective immediately. Everywhere else in Bangkok is operating as normal, as they were all along.

Parts of Bangkok are at risk of getting submerged permanent in the next 30 years because due to land subsidence coupled with rising sea level, said Associate Professor Vichitbusaba Marom, a town planning expert at Thammasat University, on Friday.

She pointed out that sea level has been rising at an average of 5 mm annually while land in Bangkok has been subsiding at an average of 2-28 mm a year with the western side of the Chao Phraya river subsiding at more than 10 mm annually compared to an average of 15 mm on the eastern side.

Land subsidence in industrial areas is faster, averaging 30 mm a year, said the professor, adding that this means, in the next 30 years, parts of Bangkok will be under water.

She pointed out that another factor contributing to greater risk of flooding is rain and water runoff from the north and quick urban development such as construction of buildings that block the natural flow of water.

A taxi driver, who fled a police checkpoint because he was drunk on beer and high on weed was arrested in Lat Phrao this morning after police went full cowboy and fired a round into his tire.

Taxi driver Eakkalak Ketdech, 33, sped through a police checkpoint on Soi Lat Phrao Soi 112 and injured one officer in the process after he was stopped at around 3am early this morning.

Wang Thonglang police chased after Eakkalak on their pickup truck. At one point, officers were able to cut in front of him on Ramintra Expressway, but that didn’t stop Eakkalak.

He rammed the police car and continued on his way, prompting the officers to squeeze off some rounds aimed at his tires. It worked.

Eakkalak later confessed he’d just been drinking beer and smoking marijuana at his home in the Phaya Thai area before starting his shift. He ran the checkpoint because he was scared of being arrested.

Eakkalak was initially charged with drunk driving, reckless driving, possessing drugs and failing to comply with a police order. He was sent to the hospital for further drug testing, Khaosod reported.

Police took about two hours to convince a foreigner from jumping down from a room balcony on the 26th floor of Fuse Mobius condominium on Soi Ramkhamhaeng 3/1 at 9:30 am Sunday. The man was later identified as Schaffner Andrew Thomas, an American. Police said the American broke into the room while the room's owners were sleeping and he climbed over to the balcony and sat there until officials convinced him to come back into the room. He was arrested for causing trouble to others.

A security guard at The Address Asoke reportedly used a master key card to enter a woman's condo, with footage of the incident circulated online last night.

In the video, posted by the victim's family, a man in a guard uniform enters a room on the 42nd floor at 5:50 minute mark. Fifteen minutes later the woman who lives there runs out of her room in panic, holding a nightstand lamp, before going down to seek help at the lobby.

From another angle, we see the security guard run out of the room and hide in the emergency exit, waiting for the victim to go down the elevator before he can leave the scene.

After an anonymous user on Pantip claiming to be the victim’s brother, shared the security footage with the public last night, it became a topic of great interest.

In the post he said that he lives in the condo with three of his siblings, but his oldest sister was there alone Wednesday night when a guard came into the room at 5am while she was sleeping.

After fleeing the room, the woman reportedly went downstairs to seek help from the building security. They hesitated, claiming they needed to be downstairs. One guard agreed to go up to the room with her, but what she didn’t realize at the time: It was the same guy who just broke in.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will call off the popular "Silom Walking Street" for two months when the capital enters the rainy season.

Mrs Supawadee Sithikornphaibul, director of Bang Rak district, said today that the closure of the walking street for two months from June to July is the policy of the BMA for safety sake.

Normally the two-month period is the rainy season in the capital and there is  potential threat to life from electric leaks as sidewalk vendors used electricities for their stalls and there are also stage shows, she said.

Vendors, traders, shoppers and pedestrians might not be safe if the power lines laid on the sidewalk leak, she said.

In realisation of the safety of all concerned, the BMA then decided to call off walking street activities on Silom Road for two full months, starting from June 1 to end of July.

She also said should there be any change in the policy, the Bang Rak district officials will inform the public again.

Silom Walking Street has become a tourist attraction and a popular shopping place on Sunday as it sees one of Bangkok’s most famous roads closed down, making way for huge pedestrianised zone that gets packed-out with hundreds of food, fashion, and electronics vendors.

It runs every Sunday from 15:00 until around 22:00 and is particular easy to find in the centre of Bangkok – directly underneath Sala Daeng BTS Station.

The Silom Walking Street projected kicked off at the start of 2015 .

Unlike most evening and night markets in Bangkok where pedestrians shuffle along at a snail’s pace, often crammed into narrow, steamy walkways, Silom Walking Street offers a much more pleasant shopping experience. Vendors line each side of the pavement, meaning visitors  have the entire two-way road for walking space.

BANGKOK – Police say they have arrested a public bus driver in Bangkok for driving under the influence of methamphetamine.

Police first received reports that bus No. 75 broke down near Krung Thep Bridge in Thonburi district this morning, causing a 1 km-long traffic jam, said Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan Benchathikul, a traffic police officer at Bukkhalo Police Station.

Upon arriving at the scene, police officers discovered that one of the bus’s wheels was misplaced, Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan said. The bus driver, Sombat Kankaew, 45, was also questioned.

According to Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan, the bus driver suddenly started acting "strangely like he was on drugs."

"So we decided to escort him to a traffic lights control booth at the intersection and asked for a urine test," the officer said. "He tested positive for narcotics uses."

Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan said Sombat confessed to taking a tablet of methamphetamine this morning because he did not get much sleep the night before. Sombat has been charged with consuming Category 1 narcotics. The suspect will also lose his license for driving public vehicles, police said.

Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan added that police have received several complaints about buses on the No. 75 route, chiefly for driving too fast and breaking traffic laws.

Police arrested another driver of the same route in a random narcotics test yesterday. No. 75 buses, which run between Buddha Bucha Temple and Hua Lamphong Rail Station, are operated by a private company called Sri Sawasdi Yon Kit.

"I didn't expect that today I will arrest one more driver," he said. "After this incident, police will summon the owner of the bus depot to inform them about the behavior of bus drivers hired by the company, and we will talk about finding a solution to prevent danger that may happen to passengers or other commuters on the road."

The 22-year-old beauty who represented Thailand at the Miss Earth pageant two years ago was busted Sunday morning at a suspected ketamine party in a Bangkok motel room.

Following complaints of loud noise, Wang Thonglang district police raided an unidentified motel room on Praditmanutham Road at 4am on Sunday and busted 11 people with a small amount of ketamine, including Punika “Polly” Kulsoontornrut, second runner-up of the international Miss Earth 2013 contest.

"As photos of 'Polly' the beauty queen from Thai Miss Organization spread on the social network, the company would like to confirm she was at that party. Now she's doing fine and getting lots of support. However, we have addressed this inappropriate behavior with her. The company will stand by Polly’s side," it read.

Polly isn’t the first beauty to fall into the K-hole of suspicion. In 2013 Miss Maxim beauty contestant Kwanjai “Roxy Maxim” Khempradab was caught on video teaching a 3-year-old boy to smoke the drug famously used as an animal tranquilizer. Despite widespread public outrage, Kwanjai was let off the hook.

I don't think too many rapists use condoms.

My guess is that there was no rape.

A taxi driver accused by a 20-year-old passenger of raping her on the way home to her condo in the Phra Khanong area turned himself in Saturday and denied all charges.

Arttapon Namseesuk, 29, handed himself in to Phra Khanong police station Saturday to defend himself after the victim’s older sister filed a police report and publicized his taxi license on social media.

“The taxi driver raped my little sister at 5am today,” Facebook user Pinpay Lipinpay wrote Wednesday, posting a snapshot of his license. “She’s lost her mind. The police haven’t helped us at all. She’s a country girl who came to Bangkok to work and send money back to her family. Now’s afraid of being infected with AIDS (he did not use protection)!”

Arttapon came forward and told police Saturday he picked the passenger up at Soi Sukhumvit 20, when she was sickenly intoxicated and could not even tell him her destination.

He drove around until the passenger’s phone received an incoming call from her sister who told him to drop the girl off at Elio Condo on Soi Sukhumvit 64, according to Manager.

Atthapon added the passenger threw up all over his car, so he demanded THB500 more to wash it from her sister, who met him at the condo and proceeded to argue with him.

Arttapon left his taxi license with the older sister before driving away. His family is preparing to request bail and fight in court, Nation TV reported.

After the taxi driver came forward to tell his side of the story, the victim’s sister Pinpay Lipinpay shut down her Facebook.
Police have since sent the alleged victim for a medical exam. The results confirmed she is free from sexually transmitted diseases but it will take about two weeks to determine whether she was sexually assaulted, according to INN.
