  1. Thanks, BB. A subject very close to home for me at present. Interesting article.
  2. Your sense of humour is the same as mine SP. I don't have a specific character in mind but someone old (and preferably still alive) would be the go for me
  3. I'm with you Sam. Is there some connection we have missed? I hope Hard1 can shed some light on the matter.
  4. Silly me! Jumped in with both feet (again). Thanks route67 - I can shop in peace again tonight. And rx, thanks also for your insight into the staff profiles. People like that give wankers a bad name.
  5. My initial reaction was that this was a joke. I'll be at my local Mini Big C tonight at around 6 pm, and we'll see what happens. I'm basically easygoing, but if this is true, they might have an argument on their hands. 7/11 and Tesco Lotus can have my business instead. And Thais don't dither?
  6. That's a very interesting point. I originally was going to say that I like it because I simply enjoy it - no deep thinking required. But now it has got me thinking, and maybe it is a prelude to other things. I'll see where this takes me on my next adventure.
  7. Well ...... never seen anything quite like this in my life. And I only watched out of curiosity. How fit are the dancers??? Thanks for something very different, though I agree that the music isn't exactly Top 40 stuff.
  8. Customer is not the worst thing I've been called in my life - and it really doesn't bother me one bit. I suppose another word could be "punter", but that's a western word, also associated with horse racing and Ricky Ponting (former captain of the Aust cricket team) so I'll settle for customer.
  9. I went to Paradise last night - and not just the bar. Very attentive ladies. If I have one gripe it is the push to buy lady drinks - too pushy for my liking (but one can always say no). The couch area is a nice touch; almost a private area for pre action action. I thought the set-up with the ST room was good, too; so handy to the bar; and afterwards we went back to the bar where I talked with Kaew - lovely in the pics but even more so in person. Plan to call again soon.
  10. I've also voted oozers - I like to see the ooze. However, I'm happy to take the quinella with shooters. (first and second, in any order). Or should that be a Daily Double?
  11. Well the horse might not be up to much just yet, but Tara herself - a clear winner.
  12. Not intended to hijack this as a racing topic, but an update on Lady Boy - on Sunday in Bangkok she ran another presentable race, leading early but run over at the finish, coming in 2nd. However in the maiden handicap, "Rim Tara" did nothing at all ... must be my dirty mind.
  13. She is a filly - 2 years 11 months old. (so she is a proper ladyboy).and will go up in class now as she placed in the maiden race. Bangkok racing is every Sunday (unless it clashes with a Buddhist day, in which case it reverts to Saturday). The Royal Turf Club (at Nang Lerng) and the Royal Bangkok Sports Club (at Patumwan) stage the meetings on alternate weeks. Betting is by totalizator only (apart from the illegal bookmakers) and covers win, place, quinella (1st & 2nd) and trifecta (1st - 2nd - 3rd, in correct order). Minimum bet is 50 baht And NO, SP, I cannot claim to have cleaned up, but the place dividend on Lady Boy will cover the milky bars when you get here.
  14. Bangkok horse racing (maybe this should be in Locker Room) - yesterday (Sunday) in the first race, the Maiden handicap at the Royal Turf Club meeting a horse named "Lady Boy" was among the starters. She is a young filly by Coal Play, ran a respectable race too, finishing second. It was her first race start after trialling okay last year. I'll keep an eye out for her at her next run.
  15. Yes, the first one is "Billericay Dickie" (not sure spelling) from the album New Boots and Panties - Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
  16. Thats a very meaningful post, Kahuna; in some ways more so than the video. I can identify with your feelings - I'd told my doctor that "I didn't want to know" and he replied "think about it - do you want to pass it on to someone?" I did think about it, and like you, I had the work done (also negative). Caution is the word, for sure.
  17. We must be of a similar age - I can see the scene from the movie now. Your version is much better though, and if the chemistry is right, I am happy to wake up with her. That smells like ... victory!
  18. Well, I'll have to get out more. I posted a response, thinking I may be helpful, but apparently Rx and others are more widely read than I. Maybe next time I'll think about letting it go through to the 'keeper too. Never mind, "such is life" as Ned Kelly reportedly said.
  19. I'm with you SP; my drinking days are long gone, but water is fine - I can buy a ladydrink for the lady just the same, and the end result is not affected at all. So I think the point is to not be embarrassed by not drinking; just be relaxed about it all and enjoy.
  20. Yes I have been caught, and dobbed in by a so-called friend (Thai, male). Suffice to say that friendship ended on the spot, and Bangkok was very chilly for some time.
  21. Talking with a good friend who has his own taxi, and drives it himself, he assured me that the increase is no less than the taxi operators deserve - still cheap, but at least it is some reward for the hours they put in. When I compare the taxi situation with what I remember in Tasmania (Australia) I still can't believe how much better off we (the users) are in Thailand.
  22. I'll go LB - something about the face and arm, and the way she is standing; and yes I would like to also.
  23. With every round I look at the bill in my cup "just to make sure I have enough to pay for it" is my throw-away line. I've only been turned over once, in a bar where I didn't feel safe or secure, so I paid up and never went back. I feel that honest mistakes can happen, but dishonest mistakes are more likely; and what I would do next time would depend on how comfortable I felt about disputing the bill (and also how much the error was). Sometimes its better to have the wallet hurt than the body. Word spreads around about padding bars, and hopefully it will come back to haunt them.
  24. Just a guess .. With a Little Help From My Friends.
  25. I got lost in here somewhere, but is the answer to the dj question "Deep Dish"?
