  1. Rom, perhaps the barfines for the posties are lower because they have less to offer? Just a thought.
  2. Maybe they are like ourselves, ageing, putting on weight, losing their hair, living in uncertain times. No longer with the bloom in their cheeks, just the cheeks in their bloomers. Still, They need loving, just like us. Have to admit, the real deterrent for me is the price of the drinks, especially the beers, Why is that? Apart from that, I could walk out of the bar with good memories.
  3. She certainly looks very attractive from those photos. A more experienced photographer might like to comment here.
  4. Judging by their hand actions, the way they point, I'd guess they are both our preferred gender.
  5. Pertinent question: How do you stub out a ladyboy? Asking for a friend, of course.
  6. Reminds me of the bridge club fiasco. Now that took some undoing, indeed. Hear no evil, see no evil and last of all, speak no evil. Onya Chewit!
  7. Decisions! Oh to hell with it! All and anyone of them!
  8. Seems like your luck and perserverance is paying off at last. An My is certainly a looker, in my view. Her shoes suggest that she quite tall but without knowledge of your height its hard to judge. Good luck with the balance of your trip.

    Club Q

Why do the police take these shooters alive so often? I recall in one instance of a copkilling in the States the chief was asked why the killer was shot 67 times when apprehended. His reply was in words to the effect: "That's all the ammo that we had!"
  10. Thanks for the update, PG. I compliment you on your perseverance. I would've bailed out of Viet Nam much earlier. Maybe its an subconscious attempt on their part to seek reparations for the more than a centurylong struggle to get their country's control into their own hands? You have an advantage over most of us, in that you are able to read and I assume able to speak the language. Keep plugging away. I'll look forward to further instalments.
  11. I've had an attempted pocket frisking but twigged early to the Mamasan's chagrin. The old bag climbed on with a couple of younguns, female. Two sat across from me, grammy being one. The other girl toting a lengthy bag sat close to me and the bag draped across her lap onto mine. There was ample room on the seats so I was suspicious. I'd heard about these activities. The hand next to me slipped under the bag and became too familiar. I watched grammy studying me and her girl. I made an exaggerated movement lifting up the bag whilst looking at grammy , dropping it back on the girl's lap. Grammy promptly rang the bell and the team got off. Once before a young gay guy got on with his mates and really pressed up to me. The seating was fairly open too. I actually shoved him further away, he laughed and then rang the bell. Maybe he had robbery or buggery in mind. Who knows? It's been almost three years, long years, since I've been back. I'd almost willingly undergo the experience again if it meant I was there having some enjoyment.
  12. Its a shame things havent worked out so well for you so far on this trip, PG. In years past I found it almost impossible to give the ferret a run in VN. Of course, I was old even then and the ladies were extremely picky. The only exercise the ferret got was with an extremely attractive taxi girl who had assisted me in getting a sozzled fellow traveller home to his digs beforehand. I suggested an interlude which she accepted to my great surprise. Went to a better type of hotel on Pham Ngu Laos? Road and spent the night with her. Regrettably, I was unable to exercise the ferret due to beer overdose. In the morning wasnt much better but at least I managed to pop eventually. A shame really, but it only cost 500,000.00 dong plus the hotel. At that time though, I hadnt been drawn to the allure of the dark side. I've not yet returned to that country and unless things turn out much better in the balance of your trip report I'm not wasting my time. Hope you have better luck from now on.
  13. So, reports on his demise are greatly exaggerated then? Hope you are correct because his accent is easier for moi to understand. Maybe my difficulties have something to do with what the Brothers told me should be confined to the vestry in company.
  14. Great start for your report, PG. Your investigations show that there is definitely an LB presence in that beautiful country. I'm sorry that I never encountered this scene when I stayed in HCMC for months although I wasn't activel looking in those years. Spent those months trying to achieve congress with the beautiful but exacting/extracting GGs. On a later holiday I traveled to Hanoi on the overnight "express" but all I gained was a boil on the bum. Riding to the French Hospital on one cheek of my arse for treatment was not the high point of that visit.

    His Bobness

Caught a 1964 black and white video of young Bob at some festival/concert. He looked like he had yet to take his first shave. The MC introduced him as someone who'd run away from home 17 times and got returned 16 times! He was fully kitted out with the mouth organ attachment plus geetar. The song? "Hey, Mr Tambourine Man!"! the voice? Nasal as buggery, of course!
  16. Sad occasion for her family, no doubt. I can somewhat relate to the fear she must have felt in that terrible crush. I ventured out with a GF on a New Year's eve in Silom in Bangkok. She, the GF, was mousefart in size and we were in a crowd the like of which I'd never experienced before. It was like being in a heavy surf with a sideways rip which picked us up and carried us in the crush. The only thing I could do was go with the wave of people whilst trying to travel sideways towards the edge. Eventually we made the edge at the pedestrian bridge near the BTS. Grabbed the railing and dragged us out. The fear was what would happen if we fell. Fuck crowds on New Years Eve! Stay home and watch it on telly!
  17. Sad that this bloke passed away. He had a friendly demeanour and spoke with an understandable English accent. I used to look forward to his videos about travel in LOS.
  18. "alone surrounded by rats."? Youre keeping the wrong kind of company, PG.
  19. Practical, Zeppie. A surfeit of water in places inhabited by these critters compels them to seek alternative lodgings after a while. One time on Koh Chang had an interesting interlude with a six inch centipede tickling my back as it sought dryer lodgings during a downpour. Then partner and I leapt out of bed and watched the ugly thing jump onto the floor and walk into the hong nam, exiting down a drain. It was a nasty fucker and was later told by one of the housemaids that she'd ben stung by one and needed injections. The discomfort lasted for days. Another time in Saigon during a downpour I saw a large rat dive out of a flooding drain seeking refuge elsewhere. In Oz itself snakes and crocs, especially in the north are displaced by flooding creeks etc. These are common to South East Asia as are the bloody downpours.
  20. Want to make a small fortune in LOS? Start off with a large fortune and buy a bar in Pattya! I've seen at least three instances of this happening to friends.
  21. Great pictures, Laawman. Just keep your eyes peeled for venomous snakes, centipedes, crocodiles and such. Still, I'd rather be there than here in East Coast of Oz where its been raining since I was born, I reckon.
  22. With respect, Woodie, to claim that young people who attend university are invariably brainwashed is in a way a tad of a generalisation. For that matter, I note that some of our more illustrious former P.M.s such as "Lord Abbott of Manly" (anxiously in waiting for his peerage due to his input in giving Britain's finest a leg up) attended a well known university. I don't think you could argue that he was similarly "brainwashed" unless you consider Jesuitical education is in itself a form of that black art. I suppose his proposed Aussie version of a knighthood of the late Royal" consort , the Dook, could qualify - Captain's Call and all that.
  23. There's a lesson to be learned there. All those handme downs and him having a willie. Confused,I'm thinking.
