Friday Night: With the rains belting down all day, I was concerned I would be doing my compereing thing from home. However, they ceased at the right time and I was able to get to Soi Burkhao without any problem. Coming home was a different kettle of fish! The heavens opened as we closed up, and i got a proper drenching on the way back to Cell Block A Happily, we had a decent night, with a few guys dropping by, and barfines duly following. At the same time the online stream went very well, with plenty of chat while the high jinks went on in front of the camera: The Chatroom erupted when little Nuoy began to get a hard-on ! Last week I used airasia from Udon to U-Tapao and return . at both airports in the departure lounge it was very strict with only one person aloud on a 3 seater ( regardless of airline ) , even family's could not sit together . When it was time to board , we all had our assigned seat that meant both ways I had people next to me as though there was no Covid . The silly thing was there was many seats empty , you would think they would have spaced us out .

Although the Amazonians who worked there were not really my type, I did like the layout of the place. Casanova had a comfy feeling to it. One might expect there to be more pressure in a place with these somewhat rougher looking girls but I found the opposite to be true. I also liked the layout of Mercury Bar and when bars close less choice for the punter. I don't like the re-modeling although it looks like it can now handle more customers although not many customers around. Wonder if it will be LB or GG? So I guess True Obsessions is the longest running Bangkok ladyboy bar if the name change from Obsessions to True Obsessions doesn't disqualify? I prefer lounge style bars to what Stogie branded as shitpits referring to the NEP bar's pressure and pricing. But I guess if all the shitpits were gone we'd miss them. I have no idea of Thai contract law, but unless you have invested lots of upfront money it seems just walking away for a lease is a good option if future rent is no longe due and when rents drop and tourists comeback quickly reopen in a new location.

I have never used the delivery companies when in Thailand , I prefer to go for a walk and see what is available for dinner. I do have places I go regularly in Pattaya for different meals depending on what I feel like. If it happens to be pissing down when I feel hungry then I just wait a while . As far as a motorbike taxi or baht buss I use who ever comes past .

Yes I book flights directly with airlines rather than through agencies/bucket shops. The agencies aren't always cheaper, and usually not much cheaper than the airline. If you book through an agency you can't usually get a refund or change your booking. Also the agencies usually sell the worst seats at the back section of the plane. Booking a package holiday with travel companies like Kuoni the advantage is that if you pay with a credit card you can get a refund from ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) or from your credit card company, if the travel company goes bust.

Yes I'm not going to book. I just thought it meant Kuoni must have been given some indication by the Thai authorities that they could resume bookings from March. These are the two islands which have already been opened to tourists from China and Scandinavia from 25 October.

Well I found travel insurance for half the price quoted by TUI's insurers, so I'll go with that.

I wanted to visit Cuba because I had admired Che Guevara, Fidel Castro and ordinary Cubans in overthrowing the corrupt Batista regime, which was backed by the US. And the US had been hostile to Cuba sine the Cuban Revolution. Cuba had been known as 'America's Whorehouse' with bars, brothels and casinos mainly run by the American Mafia. I don't hate the USA, I don't like some of it's politics and politicians. I have been on holiday to the US too, and may do so again after Trump goes. It wasn't a cheap vacation. I like to get away from the UK winter which means a long haul flight - Cuba was the first long haul holiday I'd been on. I didn't have much money for holidays in those days. Cuba was actually more expensive as a holiday destination then than most other long haul destinations as they discouraged tourism and didn't have much of a tourist infrastructure. To get there I had to fly on an old Russian Aeroflot plane via Newfoundland. Do you go to Thailand for a cheap vacation in an undeveloped country? Cuba was, and is, comparatively well developed in comparison with many Caribbean islands. Certainly in terms of education, health and welfare services. Look at it's neighbour Haiti. Where did I say Cuba is a paradise? Some people, mainly younger Cubans, do leave because of the shortages and difficult living conditions which are mainly due to the US sanctions. Older Cubans remember life before the Revolution and are glad about the improvements to their lives. People also leave other countries including the US. Anyway this is derailing this thread (apologies to the op). If you want to discuss Cuba maybe you can start another thread.

Last night was an EPIC night as we beat one of the best teams in the pool league 2 frames to why not 1 frame to them , the owner of the restaurant / bar was not happy and walked out before the match was finished it was very close result 55.6% to why not 44.4% to them but you should have seen the scene our team went mad and Nam and I were the worse players of the night Catty sealed the deal in more ways than one she got the away team to ring the bell. And of course the other half got involved then it went downhill from there.

It may be that the Nightwish managers are on a lowish salary , without any profit-share bonus, in which case there is an arguement in favour. However, for any owner or manager with a profit share package , to be charging a premium for drinks bought in the spirit of friendship and camraderie seems well over the top to me.
