  4. Kinda wishing I had bought that condo in Pattaya a couple of years ago. Now I can't fly anywhere. Americans banned in Europe and most of SouthEast Asia. MAGA! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/16/world/asia/coronavirus-thailand-photos.html

  5. Promotions, cat-calling, running out and grabbing my arm or blocking my path (pre-covid) are things which would never entice me to enter a bar I've never been in before. Yes, I may well miss out on some things but I don't care. I don't like to feel that I've been coerced or cajoled. If something is new to me I prefer to make the decision to partake by myself or with friends. Any of the afore-mentioned more often than not have a negative effect on me and I'll pass. Personal recommendations are always best. In terms of bars, clubs and restaurants I tend to think people, particularly expats and regular visitors, already know where they are going and have their destination in mind when out and about. I know I do. If something looks enticing it will perhaps be filed away for another time as when you're out you're already en route to a pre-determined destination.

  6. Not quite - tho' years ago the pubs on Fleet Street used to open odd hours for the newspaper workers. Not sure about the name of one popular pub - but it was known as The Flying Piss Pot !

  7. Some bars have been open for 13 days (15 - 2 Buddha days). Some others waited until after the Buddha days. After being stuck at home for months, many guys were anxious to get out. And in a generous mood since the girls are hurting and most guys have had low expenses while the bars were closed. The real test starts now after the initial surge. In the GG world there is simply not enough expats around to support all the existing bars. I think ladyboy bars are in somewhat better shape but there are probably going to be rainy nights with hardly any (or no) customers. A secondary problem is that expats tilt more towards drinking with their mates while tourists tend to interact with the staff more. But to a large degree guys mates are back in Farangland so a guy may just choose to stay home rather than go out alone.

  8. The ladies have all moved across to the Red Poppy bar, I had trouble with understanding why, but seems she wants to sell La Bamba bar. This bar has a pool table, but no dance poles.

  10. Walking home tonight I cut through Soi LK Metro. Many of the bars on that soi (not gogos) have 2 for 1 pricing. It's billed as a friendly promotion but I view it as a fuck you to customers. Unless I am meeting a mate at one of these 2 for 1 bars, I always avoid them. I like to check out new bars and often have one drink and leave. If drinking with mates, i don't want to have to time my drinking to fit a bar's 2 for 1 agenda. Promotions I do like are things such as Shaken or Stirred Sundays where you can have a ladyboy stir your drink with her dick or alternatively you can give it a shake.

  11. I'm pretty sure we are reasonably on the same side of the political spectrum from reading your posts. I used to love your country, in fact it was my goal and dream to "make it" over there. After spending a good part of my youth in San Diego I returned to Sweden. I have revisited several times as years passed by and for each and every visit I become more hesitant to pursue my dream. Now many years later I'm pretty comfortable deciding against it. I don't know if you follow news globally, or only local news as many Americans tend to do. Sweden decided on a laissez-faire approach to the Covid-19 pandemic compared to the rest of the world. Unfortunately Trumpers have used us as an example how they would like the U.S. to act. Nothing can be further apart than mine and your countries ideologies. The other unfortunate thing is that we have pretty much adopted your capitalistic system from being a "socialist" nation over the last 30 years. The bourgeoise and upper class will never ever let their fortune slip away over something so insignificant like the working class and other less fortunate people. Re-arranging the assets and powers of the world is something we could hope for, but I doubt that will happen, certainly not while the poorest who lost their jobs are starving to death as we speak. I'm afraid that number will be a lot greater than 100K. A long total lockdown would cause more harm on every level of society, not only financially, than a more relaxed approach. A 1 or 2 year lockdown is unrealistic. Italians and spaniards went nuts after 8 weeks. This is of course only my opinion. I respect yours and thank you for answering. Peace.

  14. Hendrick´s Gin This terrific Scottish gin is made using two different stills - the Bennett stillsteeps its botanicals overnight before distillation, while the Carter-Head has its botanicals in a basket up in the still neck, steaming them gently. You get fresh notes of cucumber with juniper, oak, a touch more citrus and vanilla. Creamy and savoury. The finish is long, refreshing and floral.

  16. Not too far of the mark Barforth - the girls are splitting their time between the bars. Nok has taken over interim ownership of Red Poppy Bar (and Beach Bar next door) and due to lack of staff some of the La Bamba girls work out of here now. La Bamba remains as is for the time being, but no telling what the future will hold.

  18. The only thing I can think of is that many Tourist based businesses like bars, restaurants, and tour firms re-opened on 1 July after Government allowed them to. The employees thought things would go back to as before - I think a bar owner on here said the girls in his bar thought that. But two weeks on, those businesses have realised that tourists still won't be coming back in the near future and have closed down again or are staying open with few customers coming in, probably only expats not spending much.

  19. Has there been a tightening of restrictions in Thailand in the last few days?. I cant seem to find any headlines re that. I have received messages from two different lbs saying that things have toughened up again. One saying she fears for her job. The second saying she has no more work as a tour guide after getting back on the road a couple of weeks ago. She had that job, as well as working in a market. Now does not have either job, lost her car to the bank, and to cap it off says she is bleeding from the bowel and wants to die!!!!. Has no money to see a doctor. Tried to reasure her by saying that because she has bleeding it does not mean she has cancer. I want to help her but where does it stop?. Could end up helping half of Thailand. I know that I will end up helping her as I would feel as guilty as hell if something were to come of this. And no guys, this is not the sick buffalo scenario!. She is not my gf, just someone I have known for more than 5 years. Was my first LB experience. Life is a battle at times.

  22. Seriously? I was banned on PY for posting about PY here. Hows that for totalitarian regime.

  23. As to you (The-Sith) getting 2 weeks suspension at PY is part of the harassment that precedes your banning ... quality content contributing BMs don't take kindly at being emasculated by thickos and will react which is what they ultimately want so they can ban you for good. And once they are on to you, any pretext will do. As you may remember, what finally got me banned was posting a picture and a quote of ... Hemingway ! Party on The-Sith... !

  24. More or less agree with you but I reckon it's more like 99%. Useful in my opinion for guys with Khmer wives, kids, businesses etc. Not very useful for you and me but in my case even if there were no onerous requirements I wouldn't go since I wouldn't be able to get back into Thailand. Lockdowns in the West bring up the legitimate debate of public health vs the economy. Closing borders brings up the debate of public health vs one segment of the economy, tourism. In the West some say, keep the economy open: if you believe you're at risk the onus is on you to stay home. But in Thailand/Cambodia you would be asking those who believe they're at risk to stay home just to save tourism related businesses/employees and the substantial trickle down effect. Not an easy question with no cut and dry answer. As for me, I am a prisoner of my own device, as if I choose to leave paradise, who knows when I'll be able to return. But the upside, is I do feel safe.

  25. Thanks for your first hand perspective as it is difficult to find objective reporting in the US media about Cuba, Palestine, Venezuela, and many other countries. There's nothing like unbiased on the ground observation. A popular right wing narrative is that socialism/communism as practiced by Cuba and Venezuela just doesn't work. But this narrative conveniently neglects to mention that the USA's policies, both official and covert, exacerbates and intensifies an uncooperative third world country's problems to achieve regime change.
