Just my 2 cents in this thread : I share most of Rom's judgment on both "the apeman" and Nigel. I agree that Nigel had no respect for ladyboys and probably acted as a "farang racial supremacist" treating ladyboys as cattle and idiots to be exploited. I have rather a moderate judgement about "the apeman". I agree this dude looks off putting but what do we look like ourselves in our 50's and 60's ? I found he had a differet type of behaviour with ladyboys. He made them laugh and treated them fairly well. I could see he was playing a game with them and managed to highlight them as ladyboys. I found his game fairly funny. On the other hand, I don't give a sh... about what happened to the one you call Nigel. It seems he's gone to hell ... Let him have a good trip. Back to "the Apeman", I am not a native English speaker but I practiced English in sevral countries, particularly in the Southeast of the USA, so I have an experience of several ways of speaking English (that British people I met sometimes don't have). I may be wrong but I am convinced "the apeman" is a native English speaker. I also met a few South African guys either in South Carolina or in Georgia and I noticed I could identify them thanks to some typical expressions. I even remember one of them pretending he was from London but couldn't deny he was actually from Capetown. "The apeman" is probably someone living or having lived in several English speaking countries. I had read somewhere he had been banned from Thailand for performing porn movies in Thai hotels. I read in the same thread (in another forum) that he had been a member of the forum and had stopped posting after that. I am going to PM you (Rom) a few more details so that you can contact someone who could tell you more about it. But this is Thailand....... the Gentleman's club a bit further down from Katty seems to have reopened in the last couple of days... but those places are never really Karaoke joints... most stuff happens inside .i suspect if Emmy makes a go of the new bar.. While living in Issan the number of mosquitoes was 20 fold what it was in Pattaya. It has something to do with the ocean being nearby as mosquitoes like fresh water not salt water and there is no river nearby. Speaking of which there are actually more mosquitoes in Bangkok than in Pattaya even though the water of the Chao Phraya and the canals is really putrid. When I lived in patts for a few years 3 things that drove me nuts more than the open sewers were.. 1. heat during daytime (many a time thought I would have a heatstroke) 2. the traffic (saw many a drunk thai/ farang get into car accidents.. even saw 1 guy get decapitated in front of me by coming under the tires of a bus) 3. farang landlords (where do I begin) Dengue I didn't worry about as much after a few years. Issan I lived for 6 months and I gave up.. dengue was a big factor but the #1 deal breaker was I saw a farang have a accident and I tried to help him but translating instructions into thai for the sawang booriboon was an exercise in futility. I knew if I was going to stay in LOS I needed somewhere where atleast the doctors and nurses could speak enough english and me enough thai that we could communicate. Chances of that are a lot better in Bangkok/ Pattaya I'd imagine.

Having been everywhere else in SE Asia, obviously Snoop saved the best for last: The Philippines! At PY, they periodically try to ensnare my stealth memberships there by starting threads on topics they know I have unique insights into that I would be itching to post. If I did post, then they could take a closer look at the account as to ascertain if it's dreaded old me based on editorial form and content. As a result, I don't post at PY on the very topics on which I could contribute the most. All this to say that they have had a thread running on "Ape man (sic) from ladyboyguide.com" and while I do NOT think that particular thread was started to trap me, it might as well have been as some years ago I also started a similar thread myself in response to a couple of BMs there speculating that I was the "Apeman" for writing on ladyboys with markers same as he had done in one of his ladyboyguide/ ladyboycock pictorials. In that thread, I posted what I knew about "Apeman" who was so-called only by disapproving farangs online (at PY and other Boards). The ladyboys called him "monkey man" but the man himself wanted to be called "Cowboy" as self-presented on his websites. I also posted what I knew about his Nosferatu-looking sidekick "Nigel" who branded himself online as "Naughty Nigel." My thread was promptly hoovered by PY's rootadmin himself because, at the time (2013?) "Apeman" had been an advertiser and I guess the rootadmin wanted to protect him and/or possibly regain his business. Not much of a chance of that as this was also after "Apeman" had ran into trouble with the Thai police, which was to be expected as more than a few of his "co-stars" looked underage. According to my expat source, the police apprehended his computer and "Apeman" immediately left Thailand not to be seen for a while. I don't know when exactly this happened but the ladyboy websites stopped being updated around 2008 (a sister GG site "ExploitedAsianTeens" also ceased and another "AsianStreetMeat" carried on a while longer with different farang performers, possibly having been sold). The ladyboy websites are still online as of this date 12 years later, which suggests the models were old enough and someone--likely the Apeman himself--is paying the domain renewal fees and collecting whatever revenue it generates despite the lack of updates. As regards Nigel he skipped town even sooner than "Ape Man" after having done time in the monkey house for the same reason ladyboys often do (see my next post below). Having said that, they were still remarkable enough mongers that they are worthy of public acknowledgment here at The Romscars Club, as well at PY where "Ape Man"'s dedicated thread has zero factual information and went off-topic, which is what happens when knowledgeable, outspoken BMs are systematically excluded. So if anyone wants to post any of this info there on my behalf please feel free to assist them. This is what I know, but there must be more to their stories. Please post here in this thread any further info/anecdotes/opinions you may know already or in the future on these 2 compelling characters. Today´s Whiskey Update: Bulleit Bourbon - Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Enjoy Bulleit Bourbon like the Americans do! Previously it has been bottled at 40% abv for the UK market, but now you can get the Frontier Whiskey at 45% abv, just like they have in Kentucky. A stunning bourbon that won a Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2012. On the palate you get a good spicy kick of rye, then softer notes of dried fruit and sweet spice follow. Toasty and nutty, with enough fruitiness to soften out the edges. This Whiskey you can enjoy neat, on the rocks or with a mixer but i recommend to drink it neat to get the full tasty flavour :-)

There are parties with live singers and performers occasionally at weekends at the bar near the Beach Road end of Soi 3. I can't remember the name of the bar (Red Carpet Bar?). The singers and performers are mainly lbs, from a ladyboy cabaret - not sure but I think the Alcazar Cabaret in Pattaya. I used to stop off for a drink or two on my way to Katty Bar when they had a show on. A couple of units up from that bar is a small bar with two or three ladyboys.

It's a real shame that mask wearing has become politicised on the USA. Lockdowns are asking allot of people. Mask wearing is not particularly onerous perhaps akin to motorcycle helmets or baby seats in cars. But I guess I understand how people might feel that mask wearing is bullshit since that's he way I feel about mask wearing in Thailand. I wear a mask so as not to be a rude farang. I do lower the mask if I walking in an unpopulated area. Maybe hard for you to believe that there are unpopulated areas in Pattaya but quite common nowadays especially at night. If I believed covid existed here then the lowering of the mask is extremely counterproductive since if covid particles landed on your chin once you pull it back up the mask you would be breathing in the chin particles. Never really thought of that before until someone pointed it out today. If I had to quantify risk, I think sitting at an outdoor beer bar that I'm more at risk for dengue than covid. Riding a motobike home from the bar I would rate as definitely riskier. With no reported domestic cases of Covid-19 in Thailand for six weeks I feel pretty safe. What would make me alter my risk assessment? A couple of domestic cases. If there was even one new case in Pattaya, I might significantly change my behavior. Re-opening borders is the big risk factor IMO. I'm thinking it is safer in Thailand now than it will be in the future so perhaps I should have my last gasp of freedom and hopefully not end up like Richard Rose III with my last gasp of oxygen.

The whole world has been put back several years, but in Thailand's case it is seemingly more with such a reliance on tourism. Stubbornly refusing to devalue the baht can only go on so long as they have no tools left in the toolbox unless they go for zero interest rates. Negative interest rates are for losers. Tourists don't give a shit about a country's interest rates, they focus exclusively on exchange rates. Interest rates are for locals. We can add June and all of July, plus several more months before tourists beyond any other Asian countries are allowed into their bubble. This face-saving bullshit could well end up biting them harder in the backside than is truly necessary. Wiping some painted smiles off a few of those smug high ranking faces wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Agreed and Agreed. For me, the location was ideal. Very private but without a desolate feeling. Soothing. Perfect. But unless someone knows about the bar, it's unlikely they would just stumble upon it. Except for perhaps Annabelle! Or maybe she knew about it. Best of luck to Emmy if she finds another bar!
